Slight flaw in your Redstone where you went by colom by collom in stead of row by row your hopper carts are still picking up more than 5 colors depending on how the sheep are configured

Yes, and worst bit is that they are passing under the same colour sheep in the same order, so you are still least likely to have a slot available to pick up the light grey wool.

That hopper clock is going to contribute quite heavily to lag in the area. A better system is to have an observer watch when the grass turns to dirt, which will send a pulse to the droppers/dispensers (idk what one does what). It will also trigger when dirt turns to grass, but it'll be much less demanding compared to that 30 something triggers every 5 minutes. Plus, you'll get the wool as soon as it's ready to be sheared.

I just finished my own sheep farm and was wondering why he didn't use observers. Although I believe observers run their test every game tick, so I'm not sure which is laggier.

9 sheers never go as far as you’d hope. I finally added a hopper and double chest above each of my dispensers. So nice to not have refill every week.

Before too long you can have a chest of iron ingots feeding a Crafter instead to auto-craft shears as they deplete and go even longer without maintenance.

The "flying sheep retrieval method" should be a Scabland game! Either most or least sheep "muttonized" in a minute wins

small bit of additional building that you could do for the sheep farm: Instead of wooden trap doors on top of the dispensers, now that all the sheep are colored, replace them with hoppers. Then you could have a massive input chest filled with shears that get used and replaced as they break in the machine. This way no wool gets caught in the machine either. The shears will break and will be replaced before the wool gets pulled in. For those that doubt what I'm talking about: I've built a redstone bee farm in minecraft before. One side shears, the other side bottles. Two hives, one for each. If there was not enough of shears or bottles in the respective dispensers, the drop would be pulled into the dispenser instead of another area around the block being used through the dispenser.

Nice overall design Ren! I see two problems though generally speaking: - If you needed more wool over longer periods it lacks a shear delivery system (But I know this is purpose built, so not a huge deal...) - You should have made 4 rail lines, or used a minecart yeeter perhaps. That way, the minecarts won't get full of say, light gray wool instead of missing colors, and then "yeet" the minecarts faster to get unloaded and return for collection. Just my 2 cents :) This video motivates me to design an even better Sheep Farm for my RyokoCraft server.

2 Rail lines would be enough, but with a bit of fiddling around. The real problem here is that the colors needed to be split by rail line. You need to set the sheep so that there is at most 5 different wool colors to collect from each line, and the sheep colors were distributed in the other direction.

I hate to say it, but Scab Castle is looking kinda nice! The colour combination and the proportions are pretty satisfying! Like, the base is the right size for the towers, the lines balance out nicely... nothing's way too big or too small. The Theme park castle I don't love is Shanghai Disneyland - it's a proper chunky fortress with little towers on top. Or the roadside attraction version with a little box and huge wonky towers repurposed from industrial machinery! That sheep farm does look so satisfying, and having the master switch with the hopper clock is so much less fiddly than using observers to trigger the shears. love all the sheep bouncing against the trapdoors!

Replace the wood trapdoors with hoppers and run a minecart shear-dispensing track over them to avoid having to refill each sheepshearing dispenser manually. Use the surplus trapdoors to replace the iron ones, to have access to re-dying the sheep. Also, expand the woolgathering section to include all sixteen colours for future projects.

A more effective pen allocation would be 15 light blue (1 less) and 2 purple (1 more). This give a standard variation of 26 blocks required per pen allocated versus your 73. The maximum blocks required per pen allocation goes down from 547 (purple) to 352.75 (orange), making this 35.5% faster. Rounding percentages can be deceivingly dangerous.

In fact, since the completion time is limited by the number of purple sheep, 37 of them were superfluous. 27 light gray, 12 gray, 10 light blue, 8 orange, 5 lime, 5 yellow, 3 pink, 3 magenta and 2 purple sheep would complete the task 1.27% faster. Light gray would be the new bottleneck in this scenario, but you would only need 75 sheep.

Wow. So many derp moments in a single episode! I am just going to point out one though, that nobody else mentioned as far as I saw: Since you can craft shears anywhere without a crafting table, There was no need for Shulker Boxes here. You could just have carried the Iron Ingots to the Wool farm in your inventory, and craft the Shears just before putting them in the Dispensers. Anyways, good to see you are back!

I smushed the side of my bus against a concrete filled iron pipe. It flattened the rub rail and lifted it a bit and unflattened the side quite a bit. Yesterdy I scraped off not enough of the old paint and sprayed more white on it. Again not quite enough, LOL Poor bus, she a beast. The good part is it costed me nothing to "fix" and I didn't get in trouble.

Once the required wool is obtained you should 1)add 8 more cells bringing the total up to 128. Then re-dye each sheep so there are 8 of each color, now youll have a general wool farm of quite bonkers proportions and might be able to cut into the wool market.

My late night calculator work reveals 9x shears with 238 durability each for a total of 2,142 wool from a full dispenser. With 112 pens that a grand total of 239,904 wool blocks. Just under 139 shulker boxes full! Woo!!

The single hopper monecart probably wouldnt have been a problem over time, as the dispensers are triggered more frequently than the sheep eat, so there wouldnt be every colour of wool to be picked up each time the minecart passed. But two is safer, as it makes it more likely a colour isn't present.

Fishing rods need a new enchantment: Yoinking. Levels 1-3. With Yoinking III the fishing rod would pull those sheep much farther out of the pen. And make rids compatible with feather falling so things yoinked take less damage.

Great video Ren! If you notice that some of the wool isn't getting picked up, you should try to break it up so you have two tracks, each with 5 colours of wool to pick up so the hopper minecarts aren't overloaded. You can have them go into the same sorting system, but you'd just need two unloaders. :)

Not sure about this, but I think one of the dispensers is empty. I've not seen one of the sheep get sheared. 1st line, 7th-ish row from the end of the line, an orange sheep. That's a cool looking farm btw, I've never built one this large, moving all the sheep is too annoying for me :D

I built a sheep farm that I slightly altered from a KZbin video where they go back and forth on powered rail and are attempted to be sheered on each return. It's much faster and is an interesting build. I had multiple double chests for each dispenser of sheers.
