INSANE Magick Archer Build In Dragon's Dogma

Magick Archer builds are the BEST in Dragon's Dogma. They have access to all the skills that make the game easy, and you get to fight at range keeping yourself safe. This build here is the best possible setup I have been able to find. Shooting off massive ice bolts over and over or switching to lighting that bounces around the room a million times. Here is my favorite magick archer build and how you can set it up yourself.

This is an interesting setup, but if I may make a few recommendations/changes: -Sinew is okay if you have nothing better. 20 extra lbs of carry capacity helps, but it's not that simple. What it does is adds 5lbs to each weight category (very light -> very heavy). As a ranged vocation, you want to be mobile to keep at a safe distance, so you want to keep your backpack as light as possible. Your move speed is decreased as you go up in weight categories. Sinew will give you an extra window before you start slowing too much, but you're not getting the full 20 lb effect from it. I would recommend the strider's Leg-Strength augment, instead. This treats you as one weight category lower; meaning you can get to a light load and still move at your full speed. You could combine the two augments to give yourself a rather hefty limit before even reaching the first slow down, but that's taking up 1/3 of your augments. That, and you can just have your pawns be your pack mules, negating the need to carry so much stuff around in the first place and freeing up augment slots for something else. -You probably don't need both Impact and Emphasis. Heck, I usually run without either as magic archer and still find myself knocking things over quite easily. However, if it fits your playstyle and brings you success, it certainly isn't wrong. -Endurance is rather pointless, imo. 100 stamina isn't gonna make the difference when your class has over 3000. Personally, I'd go with something like Athleticism, which makes sprinting cost very little stamina. That's a more efficient way to keep your stamina stores high on a magic archer. -Articulacy- This is an augment I'd suggest to anyone playing a magic archer. It applies to your magic bow skills that have a charge time. This stacks with carrying the Wyrmking's Ring to make all your spells/bowspells cast 20% faster (I think that's the total; would be nice if the game specified it). since you already have Acuity, you have access to Articulacy. -Magical Gleam ain't my cup of tea, whether I have a ring upgrading it or not. A lantern provides enough light (especially if you find an elite version) and a Ring of Dessication will solve any visibility problems. I know they can be hard to find, but a ring with 9-fold Bolt and Explosive Volley is a godsend. I'd strongly suggest Explosive Volley instead, even without the upgrade. Explosive Rivet is still a great attack skill. It's usually just as effective as holy damage against the undead, but they can damage non-undead as well. Those frostwyrms that cause so much trouble? Weak to fire. Phantom armors that like to block everything from the front? Doesn't matter; the bolts still stick, and the explosions can break their guard and knock them over if you stack enough of them (about 4-6 is usually enough). The best part is that your pawns can detonate the bolts. You just need to aim for a weak spot that your pawns like to target. -If you want to play a more magically-inclined archer, the Sapfire Daggers are the strongest magic daggers in the game, and they have the potential to inflict a magic defense debuff. If you ever plan to use Grand Scension, I'd recommend these daggers, but otherwise, Framae is the way to go. Now... with a lot of my recommendations, there is a clear issue. You have to max your ranking in several vocations (warrior, strider, sorcerer, mage, and the magic archer itself). That's a lot of effort just to complete the build. I totally get if that's not something people would be interested in when you can get a simpler (yet still effective) build with fewer vocation changes. But... that's the beauty of Dragon's Dogma! So many ways to play, even within the same vocation!

If anyone needs a fast way to level vocations. You can get a ring of perseverance from bbi (or 2 if you restart on hard) and asura armor. You can can just kill the SPOILERS… guards in gran Soren post-game, they spawn infinitely and you level up vocations insanely fast. Takes like 20-30 mins I think to max a vocation.

For daggers i cannot live anymore without the awesome combo of scension and shackle skill. An aoe that locks a lot of small enemies, and can be followed by a scension for holy damage and health regen, is just too good even into bbi.

you can use magical gleam to farm death, just do the usual lock death above a fall and use magical gleam for a knock down and thus fall to her demise for an easy win, the ring upgraded version makes this even easier

This is moat suitable for those who have not reached Level 200 and for those who do not care about the loot from Death. After Level 200, you will want to use Magickal Gleam to knockdown Death and safely push in damage to it.

I like to use immolation instead of instant reset as well as explosive rivet with a ring that buffs both sixfold and explosive rivet, I focus on a more hybrid style with strength increases augments included with the magick ones, mostly for awakened daimon to just grab onto him and use thousand kisses with immolation to kill him super quickly, instant reset has some other sweet fringe uses as well (like opening a door and using reset to cancel the animation to get through it quicker) the rivet is extremely effective vs frost wyrms and cursed dragons, especially if you have a melee pawn that can trigger the explosives while you’re firing more of them, overall cool video! good take on magic archer!

If you are looking to have loads of fun this is a great class for it. Run with strider early on and then play a bit of sorcerer alongside this one. You'll end up with a lot of magic power and have a great time with the awesome abilities.

A bowspell I really recommend is Great Ward Arrow. It trivalizes battles against status-inflicting monsters, such as cockatrices and harpies, and it also makes you immune to the Wet-status meaning you don't need the Ring of Desiccation to keep your lantern on! It's a great replacement for Magickal Gleam for that reason, and it frees up a ring slot so you can grab a daggerist band and buff your dagger skills instead.

2:20 There's also a Magick Bowman's Band that has upgrades for Sixfold Bolt & Explosive Rivet. So, depending on the Skills you've equipped, bring the ring that suits your build.

I like to use Explosive Rivet in place of Magical Gleam, good damage and good stagger. It's also possible to get a ring that upgrades both Sixfold and Rivet if you're lucky (33% chance per Magick Bowman's Band I think).

Stun-lock Death with Ricochet on the Blackwing Bow. Ranked up most vocations to get the Augments but 160 levels as Magick Archer. No need to min-max vocations. With good gear and good pawns (Sorc+Mage+Ranger - no Tank needed) and Magick Rebalancer (Dagger skill) am clearing BBI fairly easily. Use the Framae Blades and Conqueror's Periapts for Dire Wyrms. Regarding the min-maxing of vocations consider this - Arisen and Main Pawn are level 187 but Ranger is 145 and Mage is 100 - haven't seen better.

Hey, so I use a warrior pawn as my main; particularly as I level Magick Archer. I highly recommend taking a peak at the inclination stuff. I like to use Scather/Challenger/Mitigator on my warrior pawns. You can reset your pawns inclination with Rift Crystals in the Encampment; at the stone where you get your pawn. I would love to see if you find any interactions that I've been sleeping on throughout my DD gameplay XD

The explosive bolt actually makes a really great parring if you have it. For the dragons you can place the bolts on their heart and then go melee. It grants absurd damage and usually stuns as well.

nice video, since i´m looking for a build 4 NG+. i played a sorc. to lvl. ~130, so i guess the switch to an magick archer should work. btw: since i have a fighter as my main pawn, the most effective way ist to have ONLY dragon´s maw equiped, and nothing else to make use of the perfect block of NPCs.

Min/Max is not worth it lol, 100% Magick Archer from Level 10 shreds everything once you get the best weapons.

If you really want to 'min/max/ then you unlock sorcerer at 10 and level to 200 using sorcerer. Its not fun, but its the full dps build. But yeah you don't need to do that, you can magic archer all the way and do everything easy enough. Just maybe get the mage and sorc augments for magic damage.

No this won't affect your overall gameplay enough to bother with. Especially if its your first playthrough. I played each vocation whenever I felt and this is the damage I got after doing that. Min/maxing as they call it is for repeat playthroughs to see how ridiculous you can get the damage. But you will end up with really strong attacks either way due to the best weapons.

Picked up this game again from the old days of xbox 360 so. What level did you switch out vocations? What stats do you have for this character?

Stats were all over the place because I played whatever class I wanted whenever. In the end the weapons and rings will make up any difference in scaling you mess up. Mage into sorcerer give you the most magick though if you want to max it out.

holy cow that looks so fun to play, I know the level up stats in this game are kinda weird being that you gain stats based on which vocation u leveled up with so would I be able to still be strong on magic archer if I'm level 53 right now and have only played warrior/strider/assassin? my strength is high but my magic is really low lol.

Anyway don't worry, EVERYTHING comes in handy. Fighter and warrior get good health and defense, Strider and assassin get good stamina (resistance) and strength, all of this will come in handy when playing magic archer so don't worry.

I have not tested it enough to say "yes its amazing" but I will say its pretty good. Definitely some room to play with that one. Problem is, magick archer has several dagger skills you really want. So it's tough to select Grand Scension over say Immolation, Magick Rebalancer, and scarlet kisses. But it can be great for large groups as far as I can tell.

I remember doing what someone called the orphan challenge as a magic archer. You make your character as small and child like as possible and rush to getting your pawn so you can go to BBI right away, then you’re not allowed to use any pawn, your personal one included, you picked a vocation and couldn’t change it, and you couldn’t leave the island until you beat Deamon. It was hard and throwblasts are really the only option at first, I can’t remember if there was a limit on how many you could by for the challenge, but it was a fun challenge.

Six fold will upgrade to 9 fold once you find a ring from level 3 gear in Bitterblack Isle. It can be tricky to get but seriously its power is incredible.

Level what ever feels good to you. People have done side by side comparisons of characters leveled entirely for magic, leveled entirely as magick archer, and entirely as ranger. There was very little difference in the time it took them to clear the same room of enemies with the same gear. So if you are playing and feel like you need more stamina then grab a few levels as a ranger

It has been already demonstrated that min-maxing Patk or Matk isn't as game changing as it sounds. Choosing your augments correctly has a greater impact. Thus, leveling all the way as the class you want to go for is very viable indeed. Or just leveling a bit as every class to get your preferred augments.

None of the videos "demostrating" that actually does it. In fact in one of the Nihil videos testing MA the damage of well min maxed Great Cannon vs Str GC is 300% higher, yeah, that number is right, and people in the comments is still like "as you can see stats don't matter"

I've owned this game for a while, but I never really got into it, so I know very little. With the sequel coming out, I want to to finally dive into it. I see a lot of great build videos, but what I don't see is how you build your character up, from day 1, to be able to utilize these builds. This video showcases augments from a variety of classes. Is there a recommended level for each class? A recommended order to persue each class? When should one head to BBI? I've seen it referred to as end-game content; others say to go early - how. Much of this is very confusing for new players.

So let me ask another question. Its kind of noobie but I just need some clarification. I been watching videos and reading and there is a lot of talk about min-maxing. I get why to get the perfect set up build but since I'm very new to this game if I just want to play through as say MA I don't really need to worry about min-maxing right? The class as it is it is fine to get through everything just fine in its pure form/build without need to worry about not good enough stats and such? Thanks in advance for any input.

So Dragon's Dogma has a LOT of content. On your first playthrough it will take a long time to max out your level at 200. The best way to enjoy this is to play a class until you get all its skills. Then do the same for each other class. By the time you do that you still might not be at 200 although likely much closer. Min maxing does make your character strong, as a pure assassin does some absurd strength damage. But equipment is far more of a difference. So much so that a basic rusted bow and a level 3 bitterblack isle bow might as well be in two different games. Which means at the end of the day you should play whatever seems fun at the time rather than trying to bulldoze through with min/max. In other words on a first playthrough ignore min/max and stats altogether. Mainly test out the skills and find which ones are better for certain enemies. You could play MA from when you get it till you stop playing the game and have a great time.

The bow with the highest magick damage possible is what you want to go for. BBi Weapons level 2 should be available and give you a good option.

New to the game and interested in a MA. Is there an ideal height/weight selection at character creation? I know size and weight affects carrying capacity and stamina regen. Or does one not really need to worry about such things as the game progresses?

Weight is pretty cool as being smaller lets you climb and move faster, while being large grants more carry weight and slower movement. overall a standard in between works well for most things if you want to experiment with several classes.

My ring is paired up with sixfold and that explosive arrow one, so I use that instead magical gleam.

What should you be leveling up to get good stats? Or do you think you should just go Magick Archer as early as possible?

I would play all the vocations to mess around. Then settle in on sorcerer for some levels as it gains better magick damage. Finally go into magick archer for the end game power boost.

Magick Archer does not have access to any decent bows until post-game, so plenty of time to be other vocations to collect their Augments. Expect to beat the game and BBI way before Level 200, so min-max is only relevant for long-term players. That said, most of your stats come from gear, not vocation deltas.

Sounds like my type of fighter & way more fun than a regular Strider. I had a similar Dark Elf in Elder Scrolls. I’m curious, can he still climb ogres or does he lose this skill?

All classes can climb as far as I know (except sorcerer and mage maybe?) but strider gets a passive damage buff of 66% when climbing

Currently playing magick archer! It is a blast to play... I thought ranger was the best for long range.... but MA is really OP too.

Each class if used correctly can be so goo. But for me he ranged classes out play all the others. Ranger and MA are brutally awesome.

The Magickal Gleam is really useful to knock down Dark Bishops. Especially the one in BBI that is paired with a Cursed Dragon. A direct hit with the Magickal Gleam makes them fall to the ground and then you can whoop their ass when they're on the ground. I even used Magickal Gleam to one-shot DEATH once when it was near a bridge. The Gleam knocked it down and it fell into the void LOL Anyway, the set up in the video works like a charm 👍

No, because especially when running a mixed vocation you deal magick and physical. SO either upgrade only helps you in the long run.

Hey I’ve been playing as an assassin. I’m level 60 but I really want to play as a magick archer. Since assassin gets next to no levels in magick attack or defence is it possible for me to still switch now ?

Yes you will be perfectly fine. Magick archer is strong enough to not get any correct levels and still blast through the game.

In your build, does stat growth matter? I have a max level character geared towards hard melee, I'm talking full Warrior. If I change my equipment and vocation to Magic Archer, will I still achieve close to, or the same, amount of DPS? If not, I'm not opposed to replaying game, It has been quite some time and I want to get back into it. Edit: If they do matter, what would be your recommended stat layout? How many levels in mage, in strider, in magic archer, etc. Can you tell I like min maxing?

Stat growth did not matter for when I did this build. I ran pretty much whatever vocation I felt like whenever. And the magick damage is still ridiculous. In order to min max any of the vocations you do this: Strength = Fighter 1-10, Assassin 11-200 Magick = Mage 1-10, Sorcerer 11-200 Thats about as far as min maxing gets in terms of complexity. Those vocations are the only way to get the most possible strength and magick out of your character.

People dislike minmaxing because playing a character you didn't want to kinda stinks but the difference is ENORMOUS, everything you find telling you otherwise is missinfo.

Shouldn't you replace the stamina skill with the skill that reduces how much stamina your magic skills consume?

You can, but only if your not running or doing other things constantly. If your using daggers regularly too I like the extra bit of stamina so it still helps out. Up to you though.

There are a variety of ways to do it if you only want exact stats. I would actually run strider 1-10 for more stamina, and then continue with you idea. Stamina is really nice when you want to be doing ranged combat often.

Ah that can take a while to get. Luckily clearing out some of the monsters can drop decent amounts, but it will be a lot of fighting and looting.

Magic archer is ridiculously op in bbi, but I hated having yo rebuff with magic rebalancer at every fight. I played MA just to get past bbi until I have enough gear and then switched to an assasin.

Gleam has its use against cheesing death but is such a waste on this build explosive Rivet has so much more use cases considering it shores up your offenses against certain enemies being absolutely devastating against wyrms in particular or anything you wanna knock down. Also as much as canceling with the daggers is nice I'd argue a skilled enough player can forfeit in favor of shadowpin being able to slow enemies and dish out some solid damage without them getting off any hits rather than needing to recover from hits.

I agree that Magickal Gleam is niche, but I also prefer it over Explosive Rivet. The problem I have with it is that the skill does very little damage on the initial hits, and pawns aren't smart enough to detonate them for you, so you end up having to get into melee to do it yourself. That's really bad on a glass cannon build, but also kind of a waste of time in general. For Wyrms, I tend to bring Immolation and a set of gold daggers, goldforged. The biggest threat from Wyrms is their fast and aggressive spellcasting, inflicting Silence makes them far easier, especially for the double Frostwyrm fights in BBI.
