I Tried 8 Unique Weapons In Dragon's Dogma

DO NOT sleep on these weapons. My first time in Dragon's Dogma consisted of really tough battles as I had no idea what I was doing. Had I gone to the Black Cat in Gran Soren I could have bought some very useful weapons that double your damage. If used correctly, certain unique weapons can become powerful assets for your build. But which ones should you use? I tried 8 of them and here are the results.
Set in a huge open world, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen presents a rewarding action combat experience. Players embark on an epic adventure in a rich, living world with three AI companions, known as Pawns. These partners fight independently, demonstrating prowess and abilities they have developed based on traits learned from each player. PC users can share these Pawns online and reap rewards of treasure, tips and strategy hints for taking down the terrifying enemies. Pawns can also be borrowed when specific skills are needed to complete various challenging quests.

The flat damage reduction system is easily missunderstood. +100% raw damage doesn't translate into double damage, you typically do much much more. These weapons are much more powerful than what one might think by numbers.

a weird thing is that as far as I remember, according to the wiki the multiplier from Bane weapons also affects the damage multiplier from periapts. So the Bane Weapons can far far surpass anything in their field with periapts

I love this game, im glad it is receiving more attention. For me it strikes a perfect balance. The atmosphere is superb. The music is *chef kiss*. Played it way back when it released on the ps3, bought it again for the ps4 will definetily buy Dragons Dogma 2.

Have to agree although I am a pretty big fan of the Stamina Hammer and the Dragon's Flight. The Stamina Hammer for the hard mode runs since you won't any stamina and it does a decent enough job pulling agro so that enemies don't wonder off when you are charging attacks. Dragon's Flight is great because the game is called Dragon's Dogma and there are just a few dragons in it to fight.

Iraklis is great for crits, but I noticed it has far less stagger than the more advanced longswords and hammers despite the iraklis being gold dragonforged Can someone please explain? Thank you.

@@migueltorres1949 it is a great sword not a great hammer, so it does slash damage instead of blunt, dealing less stagger damage.

@@migueltorres1949 also you probably won't be using stagger skills with it anyways. You want to use multi hit abilities and the jumping heavy with eminence

There's an archstaff that has the same effect as the force hatchet, when it's fully powered up it is the most powerful staff in the game; and with the way spell users keep their distance it's not hard to do. Also the magic bow you featured has the highest stats of any magic bow before you beat the dragon.

If you have a Stamina Hammer pawn or just normal warrior/fighter pawn with their draw aggro skill. Just cast High Miasma or High Lassitude and rack up the hit count easily, then just use your most damaging spells. For me, having at least 2-3 sorcerers in a party (with accompanying Wyrmkings rings for each) is a must have for the sync.

The force hatchet is so fun and ridiculous. The difficult style of play that goes with it keeps things interesting. And if I'm being honest, 1 out of my 8 online Ur Dragon kills was while using it with a bow and blast arrows! You should try killing the Online Ur Dragon if you haven't, SheenShots. There are some exclusive drops and they look really cool!

My main trick is to set up Holy Enchanter on Mystic Knight and then lay down 2 ruinous sigils and 3 great cannons. Thanks to having a couple of Bitterblack items they last long enough that the instant the Ur-Dragon steps into the two funny little circles a billion orbs get shoved down it's throat. Then I just broad swing the three of them at once for a while. Very funny, 10/10

You can get a Griffin every other day. In 3 different places.. outside the castle is easiest. Has to be sunny and bandits outside. Don't attack the bandits just let your pawns attack and watch the skies... then towards the end or middle of battle a griffin will show up.. almost everytime .. chase it or it'll just fly off. In my playthroughs i fought 12 back to back.. once even coming out of the catacombs under the bridge and it snatched me up. I apologize if this information you already know.

Made my main pawn use adept robes and legion's might. No need for healing potions, and gets back up if they go down. Except for dealing with death on BBI.

I didn't know about the Force Hatchet + Bow combo, that is gonna be fun. As for Griffinbane, if yer doing a Solo Hardmode playthrough and leveling as assassin, I simply cannot describe how many orders of magnitude better this makes the earlygame. It bullies Griffins, it bullies all varieties of Harpies and Gargoyles, and it has one of the strongest Stagger stats of all shortbows in the game, it's insane.

I had never been able to finish off the goblin commander because he always jumped out the window, but this time I had the bright idea to knock him down and carry him into the stairwell. it actually let me kill him fully without him saying anything or jumping out a window. I cant believe I never thought to try that with how mad he always made me, the coward.

one of best movement animation in 3rd person rpg game... its not perfect and sometime jank a bit, but still the best imo. i hope the new dragon dogma game will polished the movement more and fix the jank :D

There's also a staff that does the exact same as the force hatchet but for magic, I forgot what it's called though. I think it was caged fury...?

It's theoretically, the strongest staff in the game once it is charged. I have used it extensively as well as the Sanguine Stalk and they are roughly the same although with the sanguine stalk there is no charge up and no downside with getting your stamina knocked to zero. Fun weapon and you can pretty much kill anything in the game as a level 10 Sorcerer. I have soloed Cursed Dragons and the Drake prior to level 20 and the Caged Fury does crazy damage compared to any other staff that you could get that early in the game.

it's also great for money earlygame if you're not in hardmode. Buying a ton of empty vials and loading up your pawns with spring water is nice if you want something expensive as hell

A small correction: There is no "Hardcore" mode (altho I wish there was) but just Hard Mode, which to be honest, for the most part, it feels more like a cheese mode.

Stamina hammer is your best friend if you are playing a mage/ sorcerer. Equip it to your pawn and almost all enemies will ignore you, leaving you all the time you need to cast spells.

If you need money to get these, assuming you got the Dark Arisen addition, just sell that monocle from your storage as soon as you can. It's worth over 300,000 gp.

its worth noting that the effective weapons are usually superior to the bitterblack 3 weapons against relevant targets because the damage calc is fucked, it doesnt double damage, it doubles total *strength/magick* Take an elder ogre, they have a defense of 980, and early on in bbi you can expect to have a strength stat floating somewhere around 1700-1900 on a well prepared build around level 70-ish, using the cyclops bane ofc probably on the lower end of that spectrum, in my recent run it came out to abt 1600 -Before motion value a regular weapon on an elder ogre does about 700-900 damage, losing half of your strength to punching through the defense -If the cyclops bane doubled damage, it would do around 1400 (700 after reduction from defense x 2), but it doesnt, instead it does *2300*, WELL over double Edit: also fully charged force hatchet is just straight up better than the bb3 swords, albeit with a skill curve

If you want to upgrade any vocation you haven't played yet. Equip 2 rings of perseverance and the Asura armor. Today I chose mage vocation the only one I didn't play at all and was able to max vocation ranking extremely quick.

Zombie bane shield is, in my opinion, the best magic knight shield. Perhaps not in terms of stats, i don't know, but its aesthetic are just mxwaah👌🏼, especially when buffed with holy or dark affinities, and using respective magic skills..

@@SheenShots Indeed.. when I [rarely] play as a mystic knight I just use sword only since I'm not really the “sword and shield ” guy, I always prefer playing as a magic caster or strictly swordsman, but I made an exception for this shield in particular.. plus i love the shield skill that creates a big holy force field when you block😅, “HOLY FORTRESS” I believe it's called..

Thing to note, all of the bane enemies are (to my knowledge) the most effective weapon in the game for dealing with their respective enemy type. Now is it worth investing in these instead of level 3 BBI weapons is the question. Also, caged fury and iraklis are by far the 2 best weapons from the black cat, being potentially the best weapons for their class.

The only one I know for sure is the Undead Bane Magick Shield. The damage multiplier makes it equal to the bitterblack 3 shield, but t also multiplies the multiplier of periapts. So if you ever wanted to delete a cursed dragon with only perfect blocks it's the funniest choice

People really sleep on Legion's Might. Mage staff that when Equipped by a Pawn gives them Auto-Resurrect. While it does not have the best damage, Makes great for a healer/boon pawn.

I quite agree that there is no bad vocations...but mages are boring all the same only reason they Might be fun for a very brief time is grapnel and spellscreen...those two aren't worth it tbh. BUT as for comparing MA and Sorc you are absolutely wrong in dismissing the latter so easily:) if you check the wiki you will realise that archspells deals way more damage than any spell MA has at same magick (except great sacrifice and even then by having more than a certain amount of magick grand gicel can pass its damage) and let's be honest MA has no where near as sorc damage without min-maxing and that whole mechanic is tedious and not fun at all games are supposed to be enjoying and fun not feeling like a chore In the end it all comes down to personal preference because these two vocations just work differently some people like to pew pew away and kill things with ricochet in BBI and that's fine some people like to plan ahead use one or two fast spells(or even focused bolts) use a good pawn setup to gain a few seconds and/or terrain advantage and the wipe the floor in the whole area(and don't give me talk about it not being useful in hard more or in BBI I have seen and used it myself) I do love MA and I always switch between all 9 vocations so that when I make comments I do them knowledgeably and I can tell for certain that sorcerers are actually quite powerful(I have even tried using all 5 archspells along with one faster or utility spell and it Still works when you get the hang of it)

You don't unlock the black cat until the last quest in act 5, and there is 6 acts. So this isn't early or even mid-game.

I think their main purpose would be to take on a very difficult variant of certain monsters early on. The ones with damage increases are the best weapons against those enemies, but you have to decide whether or not that's an enemy you will need more damage against.

Ya they completely re did fall damage for the sequel. No idea why. You can just jump off any cliff in the first game without dying. But a 5 foot drop takes a quarter of your health bar in a second lol
