Good morning Arnie and Lynn. Sorry about your little lamb. But congratulations on Belle’s babies bringing sunshine in the barn. That lamb with the goatee is beyond cute. I have never been a farmer but watching your videos has made me fall in love with the sheep. They have such sweet faces that melt your heart. You guys obviously love your sheep and the sheep reciprocate in kind. I start my day by watching your video and I appreciate all that you do. And I say delete someone that is routinely nasty. And to top my day you showed Heather that is a beautiful ewe and I thought of my daughter in heaven. It brought tears to my eyes and smiles at the same time. It is perfect that she is a sweetheart. Have a great day. Big hugs. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

In the words of world famous beekeeper, Mike Berry, " This is not a how-to video; this is a how " I " do video !" You did right to delete the comment, and I agree with regeneststeffen that you should block him, too ! Lots of youtubers block the trolls. And what's wrong with making money ?? It's something we all need and do in some fashion. I am not a professional sheep farmer, but I do have livestock and I can't see anything wrong with how you and Arnie operate. You have a goal and are working towards it; raising purebred breeding stock for others. We can buy crossbreed animals at any market; we expect to pay more for carefully planned and nurtured animals. Your way gives you the opportunity to keep the ones you like for one reason or another, like that adorable black goateed one born last night. If you were purely market breeders they all would have a target on their backs from birth. Screw the trolls ! Toss him out where he belongs in the manure pile. Maybe his b.s. will at least fertilize a field ! LOL

Of all of the sheep vlogs on YT, I respect yours the most. Sheep vlogs come in all kinds of genres. Some vlogs are like soap operas. One I found is like a horror movie, and another felt like an infomercial. (pushing lots of products and the latest tech) Many others being a bit of a gong show. Yours is like a PBS show (CBC in Canada?) and I mean that with the highest level of compliment.

I’m so sorry for the negativity you have experienced and it’s not nasty to delete or block that person at all. I was raised that if you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all. I’m thankful for your blog, you have shared things that I have already done in my own flock. Raising sheep isn’t easy, we all can use as much advice and ideas as we can get. We have had wooden tongue, also bacteria from foot rot from scratching their face with their back foot, lumps can be caused by so many things. I drain anything with a large gauge needle and send off to the vet.

That guy can just stuff it, your farm is great. For those of us who love sheep and can't have our own, or are preparing to have a flock one day, we appreciate your videos! I'm looking at the smaller sheep for my backyard fiber flock, since I've got chronic pain and need some easier to handle, but love the larger breeds and how they're taken care of. Lamb races and their little bleets are so adorable! I see the sheep and see "sweater, mittens, scarf, socks" and "yup, I'd spin that fleece" lol! Have you thought of selling raw fleece on the FB marketplace or FB spinning/fiber groups, or Etsy? Best wishes, and more snow weather coming our way east this week...

I don't really have time for selling, packaging and mailing fleeces. But oftentimes, we will invite local spinners and weavers to come down on shearing day to watch, help, and buy fleeces. So sorry that the tiny little lamb didn't make it. I was such a little nugget... At least it was together with his mom for its life... True getting babies isn't like doing the dishes. It is exhausting. And... these sheep look much harder on themselves than humans do. You have to admire animals in comparison with humans. They lamb, get up and take care of their kids. We have a child and the first 2 days we are like mashed potatoes... 😂🤣 Have a nice evening and a beautiful day... see you tomorrow... big hugs from Belgium...

I love sheep. We had a MINI sheep herd. 2 ewes and 1 ram and they were suffolk. Every year they had twins. Unfortunately the babies ended up grown up and on our table. But our mom's and dads were pets. Same with our 2 cows. I was never around when the little ones disappeared. I have learned a lot from the behavior of lambs. I also bottle fed a baby milk goat named lilly. She was a handful and I ended (Saanen) when she was grown taking her back to the dairy I got her from because she would shock herself to get out and eat the Rhodi's which are toxic. After one vet trip to our house, she still wanted to be a repeat offender, sooo... she went back to the dairy. I follow others who raise market lambs and the episodes I skip past is when they are loading the sheep to go to market. I appreciate your affection for your babies...... and the longevity of your girls is a testament of how you care for them. To each his own, however those that would harass, your farm because you do what you do, is a reflection on them and not on you. I appreciate your attachment, which you have the freedom to do, because you are not raising "market" lambs per say. Kudos to you and hubby, what you do is hard work and definitely not for the faint of heart. Blessing you guys!

Lynn thanks for sharing. I'll never understand folks that come to a video, decide it and/or the Creator of the content is awful, not worth watching, and has the worst things to say, and then they come back again and again and again to say how much they dislike the work. Perhaps they didn't realize that they can select the "Don't recommend this content creator" option, and *poof* it's like that creator doesn't exist. (Although I'm very annoyed with KZbin... every day I have something like 10 funny animal clips videos in my recommends, I always say "don't recommend this creator" and you'd think that the algorithm would start to get a sense that I don't like that content. But perhaps merely interacting with it enough to say yuck is enough for KZbin to keep offering it to me.) I love the little black chin. I thought she would be great if you called her Goat or Capris (even though it's not an L), but that's not an L. But the way you described her made me think of a keepsake, or the kind of photo you'd put in a locket, So Locket - Lockie - Lucky.... perhaps she just needs to be Lucky, born with a magical goatee that makes her special! Is Toonie (Tuney?) in the soon-to-lamb group? Do you have more ewes that haven't been brought to the barn that will lamb, or is that now "it"?

Ok, I remember why I was surprised that you sell all your ewes. I was assuming that most commercial breeders pair rideau ewes with terminal rams. Can you go into more detail in your videos about how you can make as much money with suffolk ewes as with rideau ewes? Rideaus-more twins, better breeding out of season, better mothers? Vs suffolks-better weight gain? I.e. why do people think you won’t make money with suffolk ewes and what are they missing? Also: a while ago you did a vlog explaining all the great advantages of suffolks but I don’t think you did a companion piece on dorsets. Could we have that one some day please? Thank you for your patience and for all you do!
@EwetopiaFarms2 жыл бұрын
I think I have videos on all those things but I will do more. However I hate to compare with Rideaus because it can cause bad feelings and I don't want to do that. We had Rideaus and have been bleeding them out with Dorsets by crossing them because we don't like them. But plenty of people do. But I will try talk a bit about it in tomorrow's video on bottle babies.
@alisoncummins27262 жыл бұрын
@@EwetopiaFarms Yep, making specific comparisons is always delicate. Would it be any better just getting hand-wavy with “maternal breed”? You sell your ewes to other farmers who aren’t doing the maternal breed x terminal sire thing. Is there a difference in farming style associated with the different choices?
