Sheeran Looper X: I'm Not Mad, Just Disappointed

It's "funny" to hear your story. This sounds just like my own looper journey (just started a few month ago). I ordered both the Looper X and the RC600 im March. I really wanted to love the Looper X because it's so damn fancy. However, I also felt frustrated with the X as it just lacks important workflow features. In the end, the RC600 workflow seemed to work better for me so I ended up building a looping board with the RC600, 2 Boss FS7 and a few FX pedals. It's been a whole lot of work to tame this beast but now it's really FUN. The X had to go back...

Been waiting for an update on this since launch. I use the headrush looperboard which is good, but i want those big pedals. Its a bummer that the sheeran looper had to upgrade pedals, then remove important features. Can they even fix this with a firmware update idk, but been waiting around 6 months for something.

I too use the RC600 and researched the Looper X a lot - but for the way I loop I just don't think the Looper X will work for me. Sure I'm annoyed with the tiny footswitches on the RC600 and the miss-hits/double-hits that happen so often, but I'd prefer to put up with that over scrolling the function of the pedals for the way I loop. Nothing against the way Ed Sheeran does it, and perhaps I could learn to do it that way, but I really just don't want to or need to.

@@FreeBeat I’m not sure the Looper X has enough footswitches for proper functionality for 4 channels… with the way RC600 or even RC300 users have learned to loop.

Same folks made this as the folks that made the Headrush and MPC Live/X/etc (as well as some other stuff). MPC Live was initially (and continues to be) lacking in functionality due to firmware. Ironically (or at least to me) the "Sheeran Looper" has the same stomp pedals as the Singular Sound BeatBuddy. Although the Beat Buddy was pretty great out of the gate, the Aeros Looper and ESPECIALLY the MIDI Maestro were marred with dis functionality (the Maestro literally DID NOT WORK for over 6 months after shipping). I'm trying to show a trend in manufacturers releasing kit, in hopes of getting capital to then, later make it work. In your case, as mentioned, the parent company of the Sheeran, had the Headrush out for years....why would a flagship, high-profile artist supported device, not be at 100% out of the gate!? I have the RC-600, and we are still getting updates, BUT I know that, that device is 100% hardware and not a Single Board Computer (think Raspberry Pi) running software. Your ES Looper OS looks strangely like my MPC Live's OS. I think you should give up on the Ed Sheeran X...with the money you get back, maybe buy some of those big pedal switch toppers and feel a little more like you did wit the ES Looper.

It’s a real shame they’re yet to make good on those promised features. It’s great that you found a setup that works better for you, though, and you’re lucky to have been able to try the Looper X without buying it outright. I’m sure this whole thing would sting a lot more if you spent $1300

Singular Sound Aeros... blows the doors off the Boss.... 6 full stereo tracks of any sync/length by 6 independent song parts, auto bmp detect, fully midi programmable with that Morningstar, 1/3 the size of the RC, same price

I originally looked into it, but the IO is way too limited sadly. Super powerful for sure though, just not what I needed for my rig.

My Aeros is so rad when it works, which is sadly only about half the time. Still great for writing, but I wouldn’t trust mine in front of a crowd. 😕

The X only pretty obscure workflow. That workflow simply involves recording on different tracks and then muting and unmuting them. It works well for the way. Ed Sheeran plays his songs live but for most other folks they will find it quite limiting when trying to play. It has basically zero customization as of right now. The rc-600 basically lets you set a huge variety of parameters for each individual track, including how they interplay with each other, different sync options, start and stop options, etc, all for each track. You can also set any pedal to any feature inside the box, from effects to starting/ stopping tracks, to mixer adjustment, it's basically only limited by your imagination.

505 mk2 still has bugs. My 505 mk1 with FSB1010 pedal switch with 505 eprom works flawlessly for me.

that's the main issue with this pedal there no start and stop for each track the way ed uses it he makes one beat loops so that it doesn't matter if he has stops because when he pauses the track and then resets the the song all the loops a one bar loops so it make it reset easy!!! but if the loop is longer and you can't stop individual tracks that's a problem that boss has the answer to with individual stop on each track!!!

@@ndguardian i already researched the eddie looper, it's previous headrush version, the rc 600 so i already knew the eddie lopper was a dead end - pretty but dead.
