Hiking 39 Miles through the Grand Canyon

The day after Thanksgiving, my good friend Harmen and I went on a hiking adventure into the depths of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The trek was originally supposed to be 5 days for me, but a toe injury forced me to end my segment of the trip early. Starting at Lipan Point, we headed down the Tanner Trail to the bottom of the Grand Canyon where we met the Colorado River, camping near Cardenas Canyon. In day 2 we hiked through canyons, including seventy five mile canyon, and up and over the Papago wall and slide - a very tricky section requiring our full attention. We ended up camping at the mouth of Red Canyon on the shore of the Colorado River for night 2. On day 3 I hiked out up Red Canyon to the top of the rim. Even though I ended my trip much sooner than I would have liked, I thoroughly enjoyed the trek and time on the trail with good company. Until next time!

What an amazing video, thanks for this! I'll be hiking out red canyon in March -- do you have any advice for route finding on the way up?

Glad you enjoyed it! Red canyon was much longer than I anticipated but a pretty good route out of the canyon. As you approach the top, it feels like you are almost climbing vertically. I recommend downloading an offline map for navigation…I use MapOut for all of my hikes and is the absolute best offline map. Let me know if you have any other questions!
