The GT 500 has been my dream car since 1968 when I saw a GT 500KR in the showroom. I made that dream come true in 2014 when I bought mine in Ruby Red with white stripes. The performance is amazing.

Wow,,,,that is awesome Garcansdad.....i can't imagine the feeling everytime you get in that Car in Drive....i Certainly have that similar feeling when i'm driving my GT...even tho it's not as fast..lol....do you have yours uploaded on the Tube? love to see it

Check my channel. I've got a car collection. Your GT has an advantage over the GT 500. You have independent rear suspension and the handling is better in your car. True, the GT 500 is a straight line racer but the newer Mustangs are track cars. They have the suspension improvements. I was looking at an '18 GT in Royal Crimson with the performance pack. The dealer is feeling me out to see if I'll actually buy it. We'll see. Thanks for the comment.

I got my 2013 GT500 out of state also (Ohio) in late 2015. Purchased from a dealer who advertised it on eBay. I think there were at least 25 pics and a short video. It had 8K. The previous owner was 70 years old. He traded it in for a Ford Raptor. I'll go out on a limb here and say that I think he was trying to find his youth again. My dream Shelby was a 1967/68 GT500 but with a purchase price north of 100K, my wife would divorce me on the spot. We moved to Germany in 2017 and I had to have it here, perfect Autobahn car!
@rhampton19144 жыл бұрын
That's awesome Peter thanks for sharing that. I must say the torque on this car is just absolutely incredible. I personally been looking at the new 2020 GT500 particularly the automatic why I would love to get my hands on one of those.
@PistolPC0074 жыл бұрын
The 2020's look really nice. If we were still in the US I would have taken the car to Shelby in Las Vegas and done the Supersnake conversion, not just for the extra HP but the handling package. I have a good German friend here who purchased a 1968 427 in red. He got in Florida. It's funny he has cowboy boots and a BIG Texas belt buckle. He works for TomTom and he is always going to the US and just about every time he goes, he goes to Shelby America. Our next car will be the new E Mustang, so we will have that, my Shelby and my 2018 Focus RS. During the winters I park the Shelby and use the AWD Focus RS, love that little car.

Hi Peter. I had the shipping on my GT500, the one in the video free as part of the deal, but would have been around $1000. Chicago to Clearwater, FL. I am pretty sure he had some room to move, but I still got a great price with a car that had such low miles. Even back then it was hard to find one with such low miles. I took great care of it and it always won a trophy (Best In Class) and the shows I would go to. Everything was original except for a super small mode on the induction area. Hope you find you dream car. There's nothing like it when you have the baddest car in town... you know.... nobody can beat you, even with their nitrous kits. You just need good boots to get all that power to the ground. Otherwise, it will just spin the tires.... even in 3rd gear. If you have any questions, LMK and I will do my best to answer them. Vince

Now that my Shelby is in Germany it is the perfect autobahn car. The only bad thing (some people will say it's a good thing) is that I usually drive, on average, between 120-150 MPH on the autobahn in the fast lane. The roads are so smooth that you can safely sustain high speeds and there are rules that everyone follows. Technically the left lane should be used as a "passing" lane unless you keep up the speed. The rule is (and it works 99% of the time) that if you are driving in the unlimited lane and someone is coming up fast, you move over until they pass. You have to be aware that if one car passes you there will be 1, 2 or more autos close by. You must pay attention because the guy coming will not slow down until they are 1 meter or less off your rear bumper and they will stay there until you move! When I am in the mood I will move over and let the car pass, then I get back in the unlimited lane and repeat the process to them. I know, it's a testosterone thing. I don't do that much anymore as I know most cars have speed limiters on their autos. When I do pass them, they try and keep up thinking that I have a limiter too. Once I prove my point the I have one of the fastest cars on the autobahn, I will move over and wait a few minutes until they pass me again. Most people will smile or give you then thumbs up. For those of you who are wondering, I've had the car over 200 MPH but not for sustained periods. Most autobahns have some sort of road maintenance going on, so speeds drop to 80 KPM to 120KM. I must say it is still concerning when I pass the polizei on the autobahn.

Another chance to push on the pedal....and it gets me excited too! The pizza guy wonders what happened. I told him no more delivery, I got a GT500. He gets it.

Nice purchase...you'll never forget that first drive home. What surprised me about my car was how it was geared. Sixth gear and you will be barely pulling any rpm at highway speeds....
@v-grooves85317 жыл бұрын
6th. gear at around 1000 rpm and I am doing about 62 mph & around 19 mpg. Major overdrive gear there. But, if you want to pass someone, you don't need to downshift, you just push a lil harder on the pedal and the car moves. I am lucky Reggie got some nice video of me picking up my car. He really is a great guy and helped me out many times......and his video skills a pretty good to.

I wish your friend would have got the Shelby GT500 Super Snake now that thing is a pure monster
@rhampton19145 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your visit and comment...That would have been nice..i agree...i must say tho that after you start getting into the 600HP +...You become sorta accustomed to that power so anything beyond that is not tooo much noticeable...compared to a 300HP and 600HP which is night and day in every which way...lol
@v-grooves85315 жыл бұрын
I am Reggies buddy Vince who filmed my car. It really is a pure monster, but in reality it is almost impossible to put that extra power to the ground on the Super Snake. Even with my 662 HP + 630 '#s of torque and drag radials, the tires would still break free depending on different situations, which gear I was in, RPMs and so on. I could also gain over 115 hp and 120 lb-ft of torque with a simple pulley swap to get the supercharger spinner faster creating more boost (16.8 psi). So yeah, its always cool to be the king of the road, but when you can't really use it unless you drop some big slicks on the back, its not practical. The car for me was about pulling up to a red light next to a hot vette, camaro or Ferrari and showing them what Carroll Shelby had in mind. :).

Had any issues in the long run? From what concerns me if that for a super low mileage car that had been sitting for so long can bring up bad problems.
@v-grooves85315 жыл бұрын
It did not sit. It ran almost every day where there was no rain. I am disabled and cannot drive long distances so that is why the mileage was so low. I agree, the worst thing you can do to an engine is let it sit.... it's the kiss of death in my opinion. And I am not the type to just go into the garage and start it up, get my micro-fiber towel to remove the spec of dust off the hood and close the garage door until next month. I ran it the car wanted to be ran and it would see redline and everything in between.
