I don't completely get the connection between the water heater and the switch. It sounds like you would open a valve when your solar water heater gets to a certain temperature so that it runs through your hot water heater so that you get free hot water instead of having the hot water heater heat the water. Is that correct? if so, can you tell me how you connected it to the valve. This isn't exactly what I'm trying to do, but it's close. I'm trying to figure out a way to have my hot water heater supplement my HVAC heater. So, I'd like to have my instant hot water heater kick on and heat my floor with radiant water heating when temperatures get very low. So, I use my hot water heater to keep the floor no colder than 50 degrees (F) or so.

Hi Roberto, I am making a DIY solar thermal system. Is it feasible to provide shelly 1 firmware update to activate relays based on the difference between the two temperatures measured by the probes connected to it? Example: relay ON when T1-T2 > 5°C Thanks.

Have you succeeded to implement 1pm with water temperature measurements. I'm trying to use it for underfloor heating. Unfortunately for now it behaves very unreliable. And most appealing is that technical support is slow on answering.

@@MichaelKainzbauer This is their replay on my question how to setup thermostat schedule with temperature limitation (for electric underfloor heating) without any cloud involvement. Cause if no internet the floor can overheats which is totally unacceptable. *You can not setup a thermostat with Shelly 1 with sensors attached to it, because the function searches if you have actual sensors in your room. You can only set actions with the unit. and then *There are 3 ways for heating management - configuring a scene, temperature automation or thermostat schedule. In temperature automation, you are not able to define time schedules. Maybe for best it would be to set scenes. If temperature is less than X degree, turn on 1PM. If temperature is more than X degree, turn it off. Activation time for both - 6:01-22:00 And same logic for the other hours. They haven't read my objective and propose what is categorically NO. I found out that shelly support up to now useless. my shelly 1pm is still working on it self. Support now start to believe me that a scene (which switching on 1pm from 6 to 22) I did some time ago and then deleted is still active. Support still trying to resolve the issue. Conclusion is to move from cloud to mqtt like home assistant. I'm waiting for ready made solution "home assistant blue" 140 euro and you program with ease whatsoever.
