Another great video! I like how you decided to cut the 'confusing' footage and explain why, thank you for being a 'real person' who has issues just like the rest of us! For constructive criticism, may I suggest a lapel mic for bench top talk, it should cut down on the echo. Looking forward to the next video!

Glad you enjoyed it, Adam. I'm usually using shotgun mic, but for the bench top talk I used the camera internal mic, which apparently was not a good idea. Thanks for your constructive criticism. Keep noticing stuff like this and keep watching :)

Can you use a 18650 battery instead of the 2x CR123a? if I recall correctly, from candleforums, the batteries should be the same size, just most of the 18650 are rechargeable.
@KPeyanski3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that, but it seems logical. Unfortunately, I don't have any 18650 batteries to test
@Pabula3 жыл бұрын
@@KPeyanski Thanks for getting back to me, i confirmed with Shelly, and yes the 18650 will fit fine, the problem is, the sensor is designed to operate at 3v, while most 18650 are 3.7v, so he thinks it wont work, sad because there are really good rechargeable 18650 from Sony, Panasonic, LG and resellers like Nitecore that has 3500mh batteries, so it would be really good if at some point Shelly supports 18650 rechargeable batteries.

how did you integrate the shelly door in home assistant? I am not able to find it in home assistant, I need the shelly id to fill the config.yaml ( I was able to integrate shelly 1 and plug)

there is no shelly id, just use the method that I'm describing in the video or try the native shelly integration available in Home Assistant

Great video! Can you tell me if the Shelley Door/Window sensor is rated for outdoor use as well? Does it specify indoor or outdoor use only? I'm not able to get the sensor here in Canada yet but would like to consider using it for an outdoor gate.
@KPeyanski4 жыл бұрын
It is not rated for outdoor use unfortunately. I wanted to do the same, but to protect it from rain somehow. Still thinking how to do it.

You should tweak a bit the automation. It shouldn't be hard just check the HA automations documentation

Can someone please point me in the right direction - I'm trying this with dw2 sensors, I got it working to the point where when I triggered a sensor I got a notification from gmail that something was trying to use my account (that's absolutely fine, I can sort permissions later but it PROVED that activating the sensor triggered an automation that at least ATTEMPTED to send a mail so I'm good with that so far, however as soon as I try to add a sensor section with "- platform: mqtt" etc. I can't validate my configuration.yaml file, it says: Component error: - Integration ' ' not found. What am I missing from my config? I've used mqtt explorer connected to HA and it correctly updates state etc. so why am I getting the configuration error? Any pointers to info appreciated!

Are you still using this and how are your finding it? I have one installed but most of the time it doesn't work. The sensor battery is fine and its setup correctly but the transmission is slow slow from waking up to doing anything that its not recognised that anyone even opened the door. I have it configured in home assistant using MQTT. For example, HA says the door was closed 3 hours ago. If I go an open the door now, wait until all the flashes have finished (to signify its booted up and done its thing) and then close the door so it does the same sequence, that should be two sets of communication messages sent but HA still says the door has been closed 3 hours ago. valueMosquito logs, I'm seeing: "1611944068: New client connected from 192.168.X.X as shellydw2-483FDA8XXXX (p2, c1, k60, u'mqtt').

I'm not using it at the moment. I wanted to mount it outside and to cover it somehow in order to protect it from rain/snow. Unfortunately I didn't manage to think of some good cover till now and the Door/window sensor is still waiting it's time.

@@KPeyanski Ok, thanks. I did post on the home assistant group and one of the dev's advised that the build in Shelly integration in HA still in testing for battery operated devices but should be committed soon, so fingers crossed that will fix the issues I'm having.
