The mention of the mix makes sense, as this is regarded as the one song that they can't improve on when playing live. They've never been able to quite get the same punch from the guitars live. Their most interesting video is probably "Don't You Tell Me". It used to have a great live version with a bass/lead battle in the middle of the song, but the MV is still really good too, and a great song.

The symbolism of the young blindfolded girl represents the transition of the protected life children have and as in the lyrics life is a roll of the dice....so when the young girl removes the blindfold she gets up and faces life for what it is....highly symbolic but that's the gist of the song...life depends on the roll of the dice we throw...accept the roll... Great reaction guys....keep going on this band they just get better and better
@sacluvsBM4 жыл бұрын
And that young girl is Miku. Almost every single Miku penned song is autobiographical. She is the one who rolls the dice. She is the one that "Seized the moment". She is the one who "winning or losing l'm playing. ." You are well served if anytime you get to read the lyrics of any Band-Maid song as a first person narrative of and about Kobato Miku.

Matt Tate They’re dressed as Maiko. Maiko are apprentices Geisha.
@sacluvsBM4 жыл бұрын
@@powbobs In one sense a Maiko can be so considered but it is considerably more than that not to mention the roles have changed over time. In the original meaning from the 1880's a Geshia's job was entertainment through the arts of the customers of Ontari at your local bordello. Literally they would be playing music or whatever in the lobby while the customers waited on the woman of their choice. There is an excellent reference entitled "Of Ontari, Maiko and Geshia". As a side project Band-Maiko only has one song. Gion-cho. All of the other 8 Band-Maiko offerings are Band-Maid songs given the Maiko treatment of additional traditional instruments to augment the guitars and drums and Saiki singing in Kyoto dialect in them all. Gion-cho is the only song conceived by Miku as a Band-Maiko effort from start to finish. Gion-cho is euphemistically referred to as the (adult) "entertainment district" of Kyoto.

You guys should check out Band-Maid's "Secret My Lips" video from their KZbin channel. It was recorded on January 9th 2017 at the Mynavi Akasaka Blitz concert hall in Tokyo. This is another song from a long list of examples where their writing and musicianship are on full display. Secret My Lips is a over three years old now, but is from an album in which they gained creative freedom for both their song writing and arranging. It's too bad the bass isn't quite as clear as the live version.

Very true. Don't Let Me Down, while not a Band-Maid song, is x rated. And Gion-cho which is entirely them is filled with sexual innuendo and references throughout the entire song. Even a song like Daydreaming is a woman saying after running into an old lover "damn you were one rotten son of a bitch but the sex was so damn good l am daydreaming about if a roll in the hay would be worth it? And when she makes this proposal and is mulling it over she says "no matter what we cannot go back (to what it was before). Great point made and l thank you for pointing it out. Best regards.

I would say so. Saiki is a fashionista who has modeling credits in Modern Marriage a Japanese Wedding fashion magazine. With her style, poise and incredible good looks that are very much in line with any top fashion model l am sure she would have such a career today if she hadn't gotten the gig as lead vocalist for the best hard rock band on the planet. Similar with the irrepressible and loquacious Miku. She, undoubtedly, would have wound up a Japanese TV personality and host as she was at times for Japan in Motion. There’s no band that has given enough of a shit to learn and hone their craft and skills and really WORK at it like these ladies have. Of course there are more brutal, heavier bands out there, but that’s apples to oranges. Toe to toe, they make every other Rock band look uninspired and shitty. That’s why they’re not simply “J” Rock.
