TuanPINGAS No, you aren't; I like the Japanese dub better too. Even for Sonic games and I grew up with the crappy English dubs for those. I'd like a mod for both the Dreamcast undub version and the PC one that uses the retranslated subs from here, like what the fans do for Sonic games with Windii's subs. Maybe Windii could do the same for Shenmue 1 and 2 as well?

Stephanie Yung not to mention there’s no pleasing people these days. Take note that because they share VAs, they probably hired the same studio that worked on “gems” such as Megaman X4 and X7. Yet when you have more mainstream VAs that work on anime or even the movie stars and singers that worked on Kingdom Hearts people complain that it doesn’t sound like it should. I mean do you want them to try to sound like the Japanese voices? I find it better for the voice to actually fit the character rather than trying to emulate someone in a totally different language that has its own style of intonation and what not.

The first scene was especially better because of the Japanese dub. In the Japanese dub, you can feel how Lan Di's attacks damage Ryo and his father's lungs. You could hear them struggling to breathe, showing the impact of Lan Di's attack. The English dub doesn't make much sense, like, what is it about Lan Di's attacks that are so lethal?

Very clever how they made a movie out of the first one and included it in the second games release. The second was on xbox and since the first was on dream cast, they assumed no-one had played it so got them up to scratch on the story. I watched it before I played the game back when I was 12.

I think you mean that they're washed out. He was probably recording over composite which tends to blend together RGB. This is why people play Dreamcasts over VGA now.

God dammit both dubs are fine. I prefer japanese only because the words sound really cool. But they dont put much more into it than english dub. They are more dramatic than necessary and sometimes too dull, like with english dub. But maybe if I understood japanese I could better tell whether or not it is good acting or not. A lot of the time all japanese acting kinda just sounds on the same level to me.

Hm why dosent Sega kickstart another Shen mue? If drop in a few Million bucks to the funding sum they could finance the game why very low risk. Sure the old ShenMue Games were a financial disaster but what on earth did Sega expect when they invested nearly 100 Million dollars in a Dreamcastgame?? The DC wasnt even sold 11 Million times -.-

Pretty sure I heard her say Hazuki kun which is the informal title you'd give someone close to you. Also yeah the saying the last name thing is probably because Ryo's family is well respected and so she's showing respect to his family. She'll call him Ryo after they hook up

This tiny movie doesn't do justice to Shenmue. I was thinking of showing it to my friends but I can't even enjoy it and I've played the game. The pacing is very off, it is quite loosely edited, jumping from plot point to plot point. Character to Character it reminds me of The Last AirBender movie.
