Alexander Bobylev Never used him for that, so I don't know what he does. I always used Tali, EDI, or Liara, simply because those are the ones I always have with me during that mission. I play an engineer, usually, so I have someone with Overload and Incinerate to go with mine, and I have Liara against geth for her Warp against the armor of a Prime.

Azarathian Mage I tried a lot of squadmates on Rannoch mission (saving admiral Koris). This was the moment when I chose James and Kaidan. What caused me to pick James to disable AA gun is unknown. Then I saw his "method": kicking control panel several times. And Shepard's facepalm a moment later. Kaidan was like "Really, Commander? This is your tech expert?". I couldn't stop laughing. As an engineer, I pick Vega a lot because of his incendiary ammo (squad bonus). My Hornet sets enemies on fire (I use combat engineer build: weapons + powers). Then, overload for fire explosions. Plus, overload helps James to finish enemies with his shotgun at close distance. Some punching also works.
