When you have products, you have to apply them properly for them to work. Hyaluronic acid is a water loving hydrophilic molecule. Your face should be damp. Right after washing it is the proper time to put it on your face. Use some rose water, coconut water, or aloe water to provide moisture if you need to. Otherwise, the hyaluronic acids will such the moisture from your skin leaving it dryer than before. Use an oil like Pomifera Rose to moisturizer and lock in the moisture. Pomifera Rose will be absorbed into your skin. It’s an amazing new oil for the skin. It acts like an occlusive to hold in moisture. Check out Pomifera Rose oil blend or the pure version. I used to be a consultant, but I’m not now

Reminders to myself: 1. Topic HA stays in the first layer of your skin (doesn’t go deep because the molecules are too big to penetrate). 2. It can dehydrate the skin because it absorbs the water. 3. It may cause irritation. 4. Glycerin is better.

@valinorhelena3 жыл бұрын
From what I learned about the use of hyaluronic acid serum, you should not use it on dry skin. Because if you do, it'll cause exactly what you say by drawing the moisture it wants from your skin. First, you wet your skin with water, then while it is still wet you use the hyaluronic acid to bind that water, and then while it is still wet you use a moisturizer to lock that on the top of your skin so it doesn't evaporate. Glycerin would apparently work just as well, but you don't really see glycerin serums in the drugstore. But yes, to use hyaluronic acid on its own is actually drying and all those skincare products manufacturers should be sued for spreading misinformation.

The way I use HA is that I slap it on my skin, wait for 5 mins and then either spray facial mist or splash tap water (ours is very clean) on and immediately follow with either oil or some other product that seals the moisture in. Used this way, HA smoothens the fine lines without drying the skin too much.

What type of serum? Have you tried replacing the Hyaluronic Acid with a Polyglutanic acid serum? There's one from the inkey list. Polyglutemic acid, Glycerin, Centella asiatica, N-acetyl Glucosamine and Beta Glucan are better than HA. Try it, it might simplify your rutine even more. A serum with Polyglutamic acid + a moisturizer with Beta Glucan, Centella asiatica and Glycerin. Plus, a lip balm with Lanolin or simply a nipple cream with lanolin.

I feel like not a lot of people actually know how to use HA correctly….You’re supposed to dampen the crap out of your face, and then put it on. HA itself is not hydrating, but mixed with water it allows the water to sink into your skin, and can be very hydrating.

I think you didnt watch the video correctly, it doesnt matter what you do with it it will not “sink in” to the place where it’s needed - the dermis. Its just sits at the top and not doing much longterm. It literally is taking water from your skin afterwards no matter how much water you put on your skin. Whats the point of the HA if you need to put a moisturizer on after, it takes the moisture from the moisturizer. Like whats the point 😂

Luckily my moisturizers don't contain any HA, but the serums all do. I totally love this video! I'm a bit late to your video but its still relevant because of how massive the long play HA is making in marketing stories! I am a formulation chemistry student and I also had the same thoughts about HA as a straight hero topical! As a formulations chemist, the rule of thumb with HA, esp. the Sodium Hyaluronate, is to use super low % in context with the rheology modifier we're using.. really to help buff up and assists in hydration of the rheology modifiers we use in formulation. It helps makes things creamy, smooth and feel silky. So for the consumer, it's used in a way to support other key ingredients that keep your skin moisturised. It boosts the body of the moisturiser, so it feel amazingly smooth when it's applied and helps keeps the formula stable longer (from oxidizing) which is a great thing. But to claim that it will actually plump, it's the combinations of all the ingredients together that will do that... not the HA.. literally, no. Love your work Dr. S.I x

Yes, it is known for drying out your skin if there’s no humidity in your air, but it won’t for people that live in a humid climate or have a humidifier in their house. Glycerin also pulls water from the air and if there’s none, it pulls it from your skin. I am in my mid-40s with no wrinkles. Is there any actual evidence that it pulls from the air first and your skin second? I hear people say this alot but I've also heard of people using the misting your face method in humid areas and still getting dried out. Also how humid does it have to be before it stops pulling from the air and starts pulling from your skin? Is 50% humidity for your area ok? Or does it need to be like 80%?

@@samanthahewitt6038 hey just anecdotal evidence but I am bi-coastal. I live between Seattle and Eastern NC. While Seattle gets plenty rain and overcast it's actually not humid like NC.
