Thank you doctor for this video. I have tried almost everything to look younger + delay aging as much as possible, anything from face exercises, vitamin C serum, Fraxel, collagen supplements and of course Retin A (7 years straight), home devices and what not. However, nothing made any real difference compared to the high-quality derma pen I purchased for around 100 bucks. Within 3 months of use, my skin has improved DRAMATICALLY. I don't look like I'm 18 again, but definitely not 44 either. My fine lines have disappeared completely, and my nasolabial folds are way less are nonexist (Never had jowls though). People often underestimate the power of wounding and the revolutionary effects it can have on the skin.

To be honest what really helped my jowls was lifting heavy weights at the gym. Especially upper body work outs. I shredded fat and my face became more contoured and even improved double chin. Nobody talks about that. I think when you lift heavy you automatically clench your jaw so thats why it helps.

Ladies, dont underestimate the power of good posture, as well as face yoga. I reduced my double chin and firmed up my jawline drastically by doing that. A lot of us have tight necks with shortening of the platysma muscle that pulls your face down, especially lip corners. Your skin and muscles are very responsive, so dont feel disempowered. The beauty industry fear-momgers a lot. How is it that you can work out your body but from the chin upwards yoi can't? Just as you have to do body exercises properly so you don't hurt yourself, same is true for face exercises. Edited to add: I tried posting more info below but those comments were deleted. I'd add the info here, but then this will probably get deleted, too. Do your own research folks and always have a healthy skepticism of big industries.

Ok so let me give my 2 cents: I am 49, very active, lifting weights, lean, eating healthy, doing all the right things, etc. Have tried all the treatments, everything (massage, fillers, pdo, dermaroller, etc.) . Currently I am 20 days post-op deep plane facelift, so I can tell you: NOTHING lifts your jowls other than surgery. You can mask it with fillers, you can do thread lifting that lasts for few weeks, you can do Sculptra that will ultimately ruin your face and chances of a successful surgery, lift weights, you can do everything that will take money from your pocket - it will all be a waste of time. I am so glad I had the courage to go throught with it finally!!! And just 1 more thought: surgery results are very natural and actually does give you a younger face - compared to all the derm jowl-treatments that alter the face in time, not in a good way (puffy pillowface) I think it is beneficial to leave the lifting to the surgeons, and the skin issues to the derms. A derm can give you beautiful wrinkle-free skin, but will never lift your jowls or face.

@@gskyle4822 Sculptra is irreversable. My surgeon said that he saw so many cases where during the facelift operation, he coudn’t disect the different planes correctly because they were stuck together by the Sculptra granules. Now even if those Sculptra granules cannot be seen now, they are there underneath. These granules will keep forming even after 10+, 15+ years after the treatment. And also, the collagen that forms from Sculptra is not a “good” form of collagen- it is thick, sticky, non-consistent and unpredictable.
@agnesjuhasz77155 ай бұрын
@@gskyle4822 Sculptra is irreversable. On the contrary to what derms tell you, it forms "bad" collagen, which is thick, sticky, and unpredictable. Once you have it injected, it will keep forming granulomas under the skin, even if you do not see it visibly for years. These will keep on growing, forming even after 10+, 15+ years after injection. My surgeon said that he had cases where during operation, he was not able to dissect the skin-muscle planes needed, because it was all "stuck" together by these formed granulomas. And derms keep on injecting it -I am not sure if they know the above or they are just ignorant about this fact. My face really began to change when I reached 74. I began to notice both static and dynamic wrinkles. I’m very fortunate as I always took and take good care of my skin. I have always used sunscreen and covered up. I don’t have any discoloration or freckles on my face neck or chest. I grew up in New England, Hawaii and Florida. Ironically I am not a beach goer or sun worshiper. As a child I had some severe sunburns on my back. Consequently I have a lot of freckling. I have noticed some jowls appearing. I consider myself fortunate as I always get questioned about my birthdate. I have to frequently prove my date of birth. My eyes have drooped a bit. But I still have smooth skin on my eyelids. And, very minimal crows feet. My father had beautifully smooth skin. He did have minimal jowls. My mother had jowls but didn’t have obvious wrinkles until her early 90’s. So I believe we do owe a lot to genetics but the biggest thing we can do is wear sun protection.

Having lost 120 lbs (with 68 to 80 lbs more to go), not to mention, being in my mid-60s, I am learning to accept my face and body with all their lumping, sagging and wrinkling. It can be hard sometimes, but I can do so much more in a slimming package now. Luckily, I spoke to a cosmetic surgeon who advised me wait 2 years after maintaining my goal weight before doing any procedures. This makes sense to me because after losing 100 lbs, I had a weight plateau for 9 months. In the past, I would've gone back to overeating and regain all the weight and then some. So I'm giving myself a deadline for health! I will do tape measurements every two weeks. I am scheduled for my first Dexascan on July 3 to measure muscle and body fat. These I will do quarterly and then monthly until February 14. Whatever I weigh then, that's where I'll stay.

I noticed my jowls sagging back in 2018. I was 44 and a half. I thought, ''well, aging, what can you do''. Fast forward to now, 2024, at 50 and a half. For different reasons, I went without my usual, daily, huge glass of orange juice, milk chocolate, chips, rice and eggs, for about 2 weeks or so. I was also not sleeping, I got about 4-6 hours most nights. Lo and behold. My jowls? Gone. I am partly reintroducing my usual ''diet'' to see which one is the culprit, but I suspect the sugar and empty calories in the obvious aforementioned. Lack of sleep didn't effect me as much as my diet. So, they were not huge to begin with, but I noticed them, they aged me, I thought, considerably (1mm on the face makes a real difference). I'm not saying this will work for everyone, maybe not even for most. Also, one more thing: I knew a middle-aged woman some years ago that was going through some stressful times. Once the problem was solved and she probably started sleeping better and stopped feeling so stressed she looked about 10 years younger from one week to the next. It was amazing to see.

My cycle disappeared out of nowhere for half a year. My jaw dropped when my gyno jotted down “perimenopause”. It’s been a rough year. Mother Nature give me a break. She took me from my maiden phase to my crone phase with no gradual transition over years. No it all happened to my skin in a month. 😑 Oh and there’s the Melasma that came out of nowhere too.

I’m 50 and I definitely notice jowls, more so after losing 70 pounds. But I’ll choose the weight loss over my face 😅. It does bother me though but I won’t do anything invasive (can’t afford anyway), so I just do a short facial massage morning and night and hope for the best. 🙏🏼. I love your videos and I giggle when you talk about young influencers being fetuses 😂. They have no idea what’s coming for them! I certainly didn’t. Trying to just accept my face the way it is, care for my skin and body and mind the best I can and let go of feeling the need to look younger and embrace each stage of life and all that comes with it. 🥰. Oh one thing I am starting to do but it’s very hard, train myself to sleep on my back because I’ve noticed the jowls and nasolabial folds on my right side are more prominent than the left and I suspect that’s due to side sleeping. So maybe that’s something to try as well for anyone wanting to help the jowls situation? 😊

I recently had a 30 min. lymphatic drainage facial massage to help with some fullness/water retention (?) I was seeing under my eyes (upper cheek area). I swear I noticed a difference that night. And as the days passed, I noticed that my cheekbones looked more pronounced, those festoons looking things under my eyes were 75% gone... and my jowls were about 60% gone! My face looked more oval at the bottom instead of leaning towards rectangular cause of the fullness/puffiness. I plan to get lymphatic drainage regularly now. Try it!!! It does seem that some of the fullness/distortion in our faces as we get older could be lymph/fluid retention. Would love the doctor to chime in with her thoughts on lymphatic drainage.

Ma’am, while I love that for you, there is literally no way that you, an 80 year-old woman could be mistaken for being just a few years older than me. I’ve never seen that. Even the best face lifts cannot provide the plumpness of collagen and how the eyes are set in youth. At your age, your eyes will have receded to an extent. That just looks older and is an indication of being older. I am inspired by your happiness and satisfaction at 80!

I wish I could come to you for any fillers or Botox, because I DONT WANT IT TO LOOK OBVIOUS, but I'm all the way in Texas... I got my dad’s jowls. My mom and sisters did not. That said at my mid30’s my face looked GREAT! And I didn’t have any wrinkles. I became obsessed with sunscreen and avoiding the sun by 30 but I’d started wearing sunscreen in my late 20’s. This was the early 80’s so everyone thought I was a freak. In my late 40’s my jowls and turkey neck had started but I only had a few light wrinkles. In my mid50’s I began to do medi stuff including something that was done to my neck that was fab (can’t remember what it was but it was $1800), Botox and very minimal filler. My industry did not want women over 48 to be doing what I was doing. At age 63 I was forced into retirement and stopped Botox and filler. My jowls really came out at 65-66. Then I saw a video about a bunch of microcurrent devices and at 68 I got the mini nuface on a serious Black Friday month sale. I watched all the videos and started using it. It took 5-6 weeks but I started to notice a change in my jowls! In 8-10 weeks there was a change in my neck. Sure I still have jowls but they look like they did when I was 48 so I’m happy. I do it every day but 2 days out of the week. I have less wrinkles on my forehead than my 38 yo niece (who doesn’t wear sunscreen like I was at her age). People accuse me of still using Botox but I do have wrinkles (tho Botox would lessen them)
