These interviews are fantastic. They should be shown again on TV

That's one of the most insightful things I've seen on youtube I must say. Some men who spend hours in front of the mirror should be told that!

@Oscar301 Agreed. John has often expressed scholarly observation of Fields as a comedy writer as well as a comedian. In another interview he did, he sited "It's A Gift" where Fields had a bet on that he could make the audience laugh at a blind man, so "he made him a threat," meaning that he was a force of chaos in Fields' quest for order as a storekeeper in that film. Impressive interview so far. Off to Part II!

You opinion, I think you'll find. TV ratings of Victoria Wood would disagree with you, and Kathy Burke was in Harry Enfield and Chums amongst other comedy shows so she is a comedienne. Fact is, there are people out there who like these ladies and just because you don't doesn't make them bad comics.

How do I lose? I think Dawn French 'the lady' is just as clever and as funny John Cleese. They don't deliver the same type of comedy but diversity is what makes the world great. I don't think any less of her or think she is less funny because she's a woman.

@straycoolcat I so agree with you! We should be celebrating our female comedians- our funny women! It's time to get them out there!! Women can do anything a man can do- including making us laugh our pants off! ;D

I really liked her and she was very popular. What about Victoria Wood? She was on there along with Whoopi Goldberg, Julie Walters, Kathy Burke, Jo Brand, Meera Syal etc. Funny people. :)

Haha! Jim Davidson too. Ugh. I apologise for instantly assuming you were sexist, it's just that I'm good friends with a female comic and she comes up against it all the time - not because of her material but because she's a woman. I understand that this was not your point of view and I apologise.

You´ve got a very subjective heterosexual way of seeing things. Most of the population of the planet feel the physical attraction of men quite powerfully. In nature it is the male which pretty much always attracts aesthetically/physically. In people, perhaps humour is simply another added attraction factor. For me, though, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders represent the `coming of age´ of female humour
@AliciaMooVProducts15 жыл бұрын
Just putting my opinion in... I think that there are just as much funny women as men in the world, but I believe unfortunately society doesn't view favourably, funny women as they do men. I think that society views it that men being funny is more 'acceptable' than women. And I think this could be partly due that men still are the dominant sex in the world. Which is stupid. :D

Agreed with you there also! It's been quite therapeutic having a good rant about these unfunny idiots, haha!
@PXR0515 жыл бұрын
There is no biological imperative for women to be funny, as men find them attractive as they are. Men, for the most part, are physically unattractive, but rely on humour to become so.
@AtheistBrit15 жыл бұрын
Well as it happens my top comedians are all male (Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard etc.), but I do love quite a lot of the female comics. I'll agree though, there aren't as many funny ladies as guys - I'm not sure why that is though. Is it that guys don't like female comics because subconsciously they feel intimidated? I don't believe that, but it's an idea. Guys and girls are different. I guess those differences prevent the ladies from being as popular or successful as the guys.

Cant wait all the Pythons are dead, cause I think it will finally proof if there is an afterlife, cause if so, we will definitely hear some laugh from there if they are all there soon hopefully.
