This is a REACTION video. If people don't want you to talk they should just buy the song and listen to it. I wore out the cassette (yes, I'm old) listening to her first album. She. Is. Amazing. Her later stuff is really good, too.

I'm glad I came across your reaction to Tracy Chapman. Today I watched your "reaction to your reaction" on Pavarotti. Your mind has been opened, young man and it is a beautiful sight. I'm 73 and have every CD Tracy Chapman every made ... love her style. Some may call me odd for liking everything from swing/classical/rock/country .... and on. Tough beans folks .... I am VERY ALIVE.

One of my favorite songs and artists ever. I'm so glad you spent time to follow the lyrics, I have seen many people latch onto the optimistic sense of breaking free at the start and miss the key point, that she got trapped again. I love the way the same chorus can feel so hopeful and uplifting at the start and then tragically nostalgic by the end. I very frequently get teary-eyed when I listen.

Tracy Chapman is a great singer-songwriter & storyteller. Have always loved her unusual voice. She is best known for her hit singles "Fast Car", "Talkin' 'bout A Revolution", "Baby Can I Hold You", "Crossroads", "Give Me One Reason" etc.

Oh Tracy Chapman! I am a huge fan! I am only mad that she did not continue to make hits. Her song Give Me One Reason is partially responsible for our 21 year old daughter. My wife did this little dance and lip sync thing.....well never mind.. Our 21 year old is our gift from that night. I love her voice! There is so much pain and history in her voice! Great reaction buddy, I am so happy to see that you are doing okay.

Brilliant singer and song . Unique voice - so thoughtful. She breaks my heart every time I hear this song. Soft voice, the resignation, her dreams, hopes, all that quiet strength and determination, going somewhere different and better, in a fast car. And the cycle carries on. But now so many grandmothers keep holding on, keeping it together. Everyone trying, dreaming, surviving, but someone has to feed the little ones.

Tracy always had that angelic voice and was “easy on the eyes “ a lot of the music back then was junk , Tracy elevated any song she sang , with ease and gentleness . Her performances always vocal nuances not a visual one .

I love this song. It is about a mismatched couple. Tracy has ambition and wants to get out of her current situation and have a better life. Her partner lacks the same ambition and would rather just stay in the same place. Finally Tracy breaks away because they are growing further and further apart in their goals.

Compare her relationship to her parents. Also her relationship with her dad and what her mom did. What the character had to do to take care of her dad and then her new man. That beautiful repetitive guitar compared to when it picks up when she seems happy driving "around." Just a beautifully well written song. If you think about a different take on Springsteen's thunder road or born to run. Chapman really hits and focuses on humanities issues with getting trapped in cycles of behavior that grind us down. Well and the people that bring decent people down. MC is a good hard working person that sacrificed so much for the wrong people. Quit school for her dad, supported for everyone in her life. Sorry love this song....

Tracy Chapman is awesome! You should check out her songs "Sing For You" and "Change." Also, I recently ran across an artist I think you'd love. His name is Nolan Taylor. If you ever get the chance. listen to his song "Darkness" For those like me who've struggled with depression, songs like this are a lifeline.

Could you please, please, please play marvin Gayes song...What's going on? Play it everyday till the world listens to the words and understands that this hatred has been going on for way, way too long! I am in the hospital recovering from a stroke. but it is my heart that is breaking from the continuing hatred and social injustices. I know you will listen to the lyrics and help me get the message out there. I know you are a kind soul and I appreciate you!
