Pelargoniums are my most loved flowers! I grew so many from seed this time last year and had a lot of success. I have grown every type of colours but my favourites are the coral and salmon ones. They do take time to germinate and then even longer to grow as a seedling to maturity but SO worth it! Be careful not to overwater them, especially as young seedlings-they usually like their soil to dry out between waterings. They also thrive when being fertilized regularly. I love when they start blooming in early Spring as it allows me to enjoy their beauty indoors when it is still too cold to grow them outdoors (I’m in Toronto, zone 6b). I never have to deal with pests on them either as they seem to have natural pest-repelling properties! What’s more, after summer ends, they can be overwintered indoors and they’ll continue to bloom for you as long as they receive enough light. They also benefit from a cut back once a year so they don’t get sparse/leggy. They can live easily 3-5 years, so you can replant them year after year and save money that way! I plan on growing a few more this month from seed because I enjoy the process a lot. I am so excited for you, Amanda! I look forward to your seedling update videos😊 Best of luck!

I moved from New Hampshire 3 years ago not knowing anything whatsoever about gardening in Texas. Amanda, you are a godsend and my number one favorite KZbinr. I live in zone 8b and have been following you for about a year and have especially been enjoying your seed starting series. Thank you so much for all you do, I've learned a ton from you!

I live in New Hampshire and my average last frost date is around mid May. I usually start my geraniums from seed in late November in order to get sizeable plants that are blooming by my last frost date. 😊🌸

Thanks for sharing your experience, sounds like I might be a little late! Hopefully 16 hours of light per day and consistent fertilizing can speed them along a little bit.

Excited for you and your geraniums! I have Maverick White I’m going to start ASAP. I didn’t know their true leaves would look like the actual leaves and the seedlings have a fragrance too. How fun! Looking forward to the update on these beauties.

I love starting geraniums from seed! I also bring mine in from outside in the late fall before frost. Sometimes I trim them back, shake off all the dirt and put them in a brown paper bag to store. In spring I get them out, pot up and put under grow light for a week or so til it’s time to move them outside. They do great. This year I put them in small clay pots trimmed back in my kitchen window.

I’ve never tried overwintering geraniums like that, but it sounds like a great idea! Do you store them inside?

Love your channel! You are such a wealth of information and I’ve learned so much watching your videos. I’m new to gardening and this is my first year seed starting. Question: I started my bullseye salmon geraniums from seed last week. All of my cells germinated and but I noticed the leaves look a little yellow/pale. And some of the leaves are curling/cupping. Any idea what causes that?

Amanda I started some geraniums in January last year but you are correct they should have been started earlier. I did not find them difficult but just that they took time. 😊

I know you've grown petunias and I really like your plan of getting your plants to garden center sizes by planting time. I plan to grow petunias from seed and wondered what amount of time I should give them. I'm zone 7b so I'm thinking I could get them out mid to late April. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

🥰 those little baby cacti are so cute 😍. I just got my garden stalk today that ordered on Black Friday. It is the inventors bundle that comes with all the bells and whistles at an amazing price. My early Christmas present. I know I want to grow strawberries but not sure what else I’ll put in it. Maybe some herbs at the top. ❤
