For small sketches, I use ordinary sandpaper. Grit 1000. Size 23x28 cm. I buy in hardware stores. For larger and more detailed paintings, I use professional pastel paper: Pastelmat, Canson Me-Teintes, Canson Me-Teintes Touch, UART...

Beautiful work! Is it better to select out a limited palette for your particular painting, like you did, rather than using your entire 120 pastel set? Do you always do that?

Loved this video, Sheshina. I watched it because I am currently working on a pastel sunset seascape and I have orange colors in my sky, as you do, and I wanted to see how you would put the orange color in the sky reflecting in the ocean water. Just wondering why you didn't put down any orange-yellow reflection in your water. I only saw you use lavender, blue, and pinks of varying color. I'm new at this, so just wondering. Thanks.

Лана! Конечно оформляю. В основном покупаю рамы в Икеа с паспарту. Но так как наждачка нестандартных размеров (23х28 см), то остается пространство сбоков. И я покупаю пастельную бумагу Палаццо, у нее очень приятные оттенки и фактура. Формат А3. И режу дополнительное внутреннее паспарту. Чуть позже сделаю пост в группе об этом. Ewa, everyone chooses for himself what suits him best and what he likes best. For example, I like abrasive surfaces. For small sketches, I use regular sandpaper. And for large paintings, I use Canson Mi-Teintes Touch and Pastelmat. I also use pastel primers.

I live in Russia and need to order pastel paper, wait a long time and it's expensive. Therefore, sandpaper is a way out. But this is not the only reason. I really like sandpaper :))) I like the effect it gives. I use pastel pencils only at the sketch stage of the outline and for specifying fine lines. If you work in the technique of photorealism, then you will need to select paper for pencils. I do not work in this technique. And thanks for the compliment!:))
