I think they were large cogs in the Rebel machine. Significant, but far from the only pieces required. They allowed the Rebels to field ships of the line to counter the ISD, but the starfighter corps definitely lifted its own weight, as did the smaller ships. Ships like the CEC models, Gallofree GR-75, and Kuat Nebulon B.

The Liberty is one my favourite cruisers in Star Wars. One thing they really showed with the liberty and other Mon Cal is where are all the arnaments and gun batteries? In all canon sources we only see lasers coming out but never the actual gun ports.

Well following the theme of the MonCal building these underwater and rated for submarine levels of pressure it stands to reason that the weapon emplacements would be stored within the hull when not in use, problem is no one has ever bothered to visually show it.

I absolutely loved the MC80 Liberty and feel sadden when they disappear due to Era Change in Thrawns Revenge. Also, the Fondor Battle can be said that they were trying to capture the ISD for the Starhawk Project.

By far my favorite Mon Calamari cruiser, such a magnificent battleship that was in many ways superior to those of the Imperial Armada, and one I would always have in any fleet. Great video about the BEST MC80 cruiser of Star Wars, I will wait for the Venator video with great excitement

enjoyed using the MC80 as the Rebels/New Republic in Thrawn's revenge. as any other faction, I focused its support first, then targeted its shield generator with every gun I had. Empire of the Hand was always a good counter.

liberty is my favorite mon cala cruiser i really would love to see one on screen again in ahsoka season 2 i love the dagger design it have and i always build a couble of them in thrawn revenge as the nr as part of my main attack fleet early on before they replace by mc80b and mc90 wich would be cool to see a video of those

The Home One type easily. The rebel alliance did not have many capital ships that can really go toe to toe against an ISD but the Home One is able.

EXCEPT in star wars empire at war total corruption where 1 attack imperial fighters with ion cannon is able to disable the shields but rebel fighter with ion cannon cant stop increase fire power to weapon special ability from the empire...so playing rebs in that games has its draw backs: Gripe.

Obsolete weapons. The closest thing to super-duper space nukes are the main batteries on capital ships, proton torpedoes, and Baradium Missiles. You don't really need nukes when your main guns energy bolts which are discharged in the tnt equivalent yield are rated in teratons. (Fractalsponge always rates main batteries in Star Wars around the 100-300 teraton range and he wrote the Essential Guide to Warfare, and Disney marvel artists keep stealing his designs) Also nukes are greatly reduced in power in a vacuum, which is what space is.

I think 10 squadrons is 120 fighters, not 72, (a common imperial wing number of 6 squadrons), a common reoccurring number and probably just a misspeak. Also the Wookie people can't do math as the article is also incorrect. The article is also nonsensical, as it states there are are 20 twin battleship ion cannons, but the opennings have 3, and there is no apparent oppennings for others, so I suspect people are just making things up. I have never been able to justify the Mon Cal talk of shields vs what is displayed on screen. Ackbar "We won't last long against those syar destroyers!" And the battle with the Dauntless where the Dauntless not only recovered from the battleship ion cannons, it killed the Liberty class with a volley from only 1/2 of its main battery. A battery that doesn't have the same punching power as an ISD I. Lots of barrels yes, but each bolt won't penetrate as deeply. I did not hear where it was stated that Mon Cals (the Linerty type in particular here) have 3 times the shields, though I will listen again for a reference. Not knocking the presentation which was well done.

@mirrorslash028 I understand, I have never found anything that gives a number for the shields. Like "twice as strong as" or "three times as strong as". All I have ever seen is "strong, redundant" or "multiple redundant shield generators", with nothing on an actual strength. Just statements of "famed" or "renowned" mon calamari shields. That is my complaint with the "mystic" of MC shields. If they were so good everyone would copy how they are employed, or simply add more shield generators to their own ships to match. It could be five weaker shield generators that can keep coming back up, but won't stop heavy weapons fire as effectively as single much stronger shields.

But it is, the classification system would classify an MC-80 as a Star Destroyer. The NR and alliance used the propaganda term Star Cruiser to avoid the negative connotations with the SD term

Well they are formerly civilian liners. Thats why the New Republic made proper designs for warfare but even then the Mon Calamari ships are still quite prominent like the MC80b which is the combat variant.
