shift issue 99 GMC New body style Sierra 1500

My 99 Gmc Sierra started going into limp mode transmission wise. the gauges and clusters all remained working and the fuse for ign 0 was intact . so here is a video of what i discovered was causing the issue . as well as a surprise bonus issue that arose from the fix.

when fixing wire's I always solder them together you'll be sure not to have to go back in to fix it. unless a chipmunk comes back.... but remember to use the rt solder thin electric solder of course not plumbing solder.. and remember to always put a little on tip just before you start. good video. bro.

Just put a new transmission in my 2000 Tahoe it's stuck in 3rd gear will be checking this tomorrow.... hopefully this fixes it....truck set for almost 3 years

Check you transmission harnes I had the same thing and my transmission harness was disconnected

I just bought a 2003 GMC 1500 Z71 off road for $1500. The guy says that it needs a transmission. I'll look for the pink wire.

I should say that my 2002 GMC YUKON XL IS ONLY DRIVING IN FIRST GEAR AND WONT SHIFT BUT ITS NOT SLIPPING AND THE CODE READS NO CONNECTION TO THE COMPUTER. AUTOZONE SAID THAT I SHOULD BRING IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE COMLUTER ... IM LAUGHING BECAUSE I WAS INTENDING ON RUNNING THE 12V LINE TO THE TRANS .... LMFAO

Ok think i may be having the same issue not sure .. I recently bought a 99 gmc sierra 5.3 l v8 4x4 with the 4l60 e auto trans .. Check engine light was on when i bought it.. Scanned for codes and itv was throwing a fault code for shift solenoid a , was still shifting at the time tho.. And it's am easy enough fix so bought the truck.. .. About 4 days into driving it.. I hit a pothole and speedo went all crazy then stopoed working seconds later .. All while the trans was trying to figure out what to do.. Now i was able to limp it off the main road and chevk things out .. I couldn't find any major signs of catastrophic failure ... Shifted manually ( column shift) thru every gear and they all work like they should 1 ,2,3 ,r , even d .. But won't auto shift like it should.. So endedv up towing it home asi didn't want to cause damage to it .. As of now I've changed fuses to brake switch , btsi under hood . couldn't find the vsb (speed buffer) behind glove box .. To try resetting that , nit sure about that anyways , i have replaced both shift solenoids with ac delco parts , new fluid new filter ,, replaced ignition switch.. Csuse i read somewhere that the 12v source that powers the solenoids goes thru that 200 $$ cluster fuck of wires and there were a few big cuts showing bare wires in a few.. Probably due to the steering wheel being lowered .. Idk for sure but replaced that .. Ive read multiple things and with each new thing i read it seems to contradict the previous .. So i guess my first question would be was your s giving you a fault code for solenoids ? And two .. Do you know if the 12v supply to the solenoids is a constant ? Or is it only supplying while running? I still have yet to check for 12v current to it .. But just trying to get a feel of where to go next .. Any input would be appreciated .. Thanks

Dude my buddy had a 98 that did this and his ignition switch turned out to be his issue.....not at all saying thats yours....but can yiu imagine his surprise when he put that brand new transmission in and it STILL didn't work....thought he was gonna shit 😅😅😅

If it's electronic throttle body you probably have a poor connection on one of the pens on the wiring connector. I unplugged mine squirted die electric grease on the female side of the plug and worked it down into the holes. Plugged it up never had a problem since

Same here! Brand new from autozone. As soon as it it hits 120degrees I go into limp mode with no codes.

I’m having the same issues . Shifts great when cold when temp gets up to operating temp it loses all gears and engine stalls does not cut off . Help.

I’m having the same issue on my blazer imma check under the fuse box tomorrow reply to this comment so I can update if any you all wanna know what I find out about mine. By the way I replaced several solenoids and changed my filter and fluid numerous times as well as the inner harness because I believed it was an electrical problem***** but will check the fuse box connections ASAP.

@@stevenswiatek6268 A-B solenoids. But I’m still having the code for 3/2 downshift solenoid that could be just a bad ground. I saw another video that explained how the ground going to the computer for that particular solenoid tends to go bad and they used to repair it for free but stopped or give an upgrade kit to replace the bad wire inside of the harness. Also to note***** When reinstalling the transmission pan, be careful not to damage those two A-B solenoids because that was my issue.

Does anyone else ever think that some people make videos on repairs that they make on purpose to make themselves look and feel like a GENIUS. ( example , cut a wire ,make it look like it is old and corroded, or put there own chew marks on it .) I AM NOT AND SAYING THIS IS WHAT THIS PERSON DID .
