The Schofield combines everything I prefer in an old west revolver. Single action for that hammer pull and it's easy to reload. No loading door you have throw open to reload, just open the top and slip your rounds in. If I was a character in a western, I would choose the Schofield as my sidearm.
@RealAaron3172 жыл бұрын
That's why many people preferred it than other revolvers back then...
@silverjohn60372 жыл бұрын
@@RealAaron317 If memory serves No 3's like the Schofield were in short supply in the US because Smith and Wesson was tied up supplying guns to a Russian contract. Colt was able to produce enough guns for their military contracts but still had enough production capacity for the civilian market in the early days and won the loyalty of a lot of shooter who hadn't had the chance to use a No 3. It would have been interesting to think what westerns would look like if Colt had won the Russian contract instead of Smith and Wesson.

I think I remember hearing that since the barrel can be flipped like it does when reloading, it is less precise than the fixed barrel sort of revolver.
@silverjohn60372 жыл бұрын
@@orderlyhippo1569 In a good quality gun like the Schofield or British military Webley's there was a slight difference in accuracy but it would only really matter to a target shooter. This Schofield revolver is also featured in another Wild West franchise called Call Of Juarez. It appears as the Quickshooter and has the fastest reload of all revolvers in the franchise.
