@@georgefloydsinhellwbreonna5330 ive dropped hogs with a 10mm just fine... And it also holds 15+ rounds.. 500 mag seems like overkill. Not to mention its objectively harder to make follow up shots and you only get 5 rounds. I would feel alot more safe out in the wilderness with my glock 20 than i would with a 500 magnum with only 5 rounds. Or id just take my 45-70 SBL out into the wilderness with my glock 20 on my hip. 500 magnums are awesome and hurt to shoot(in a good way, kinda) But i wouldn't put my life on my ability to make quick and accurate follow up shots on a charging bear or hog. Its much much much harder than people realize.
@georgefloydsinhellwbreonna53302 жыл бұрын
@@cosmicbilly I’ve hit a sizesble boar twice in the head with 220gr 10mm from my Glock 40 and it shook it off. I followed the blood trail until it went off of my property onto someone else’s and the trail was over half a mile. Never has a hog walked away from either the 454/500 and since I do this a lot it’s what I carry. And I’m a decent enough shot to where rarely do I need follow up shots. But understand, I’ve got a Glock 40 in a brace with a red dot and 30 round mag for hunting whereas the cannons are for suddenly being charged or if a bear decides to show up. 10mm is the smallest caliber that I carry when hunting. Back ups are far bigger but that’s why they’re the back up.

For the record, he had them only shoot one because the recoil can flip the gun halfway out of your hand. Some people instinctively squeeze as the revolver flips upward in order to maintain control, accidentally letting off a second round when the muzzle is pointing upward or even backward. If it flips far enough, the trigger essentially pulls itself against your finger. Once you know what the recoil feels like, it's not much of a problem. The likelyhood these guys would have let it flip that far is unlikely, but he's just trying to be safe.

7:44. This is what makes the 5.56 so deadly, maybe even more than the .308 in some cases! Yep! It’s not just about grains, weight and foot/pound of energy, it’s what you are doing with those. A 5.56 fired out of an 18 inch barrel, 20 inch most optimal, and it starts tumbling or even fragment inside the target is deadly because it’s delivering a lot energy over of a larger sized area compared to a .308, which concentrate most of the energy at the tip, a far smaller area and thus, a lot of energy are lost in penetrating a target. Of course, things gets screwy when most people pull out a MK18 and wonder why anything beyond 30 yards, the 5.56 don’t do anything! Well, DUH, with the 10.5 inch barrel, the MK18 looses so much velocity, at anything beyond 25yards, the 5.56 looses too much speed and literally, becomes nothing more than a .22LR at that point! Right tools for the job people!

Cool pistol. The sad thing is? So many people think a bigger gun is better. A .22 or .38 will kill a human being quite easily if you have decent aim and they are not in armor. Bigger just makes it easier for a 1 shot kill. A .50 is useful for some things. Wildlife like grizzly bears and lions in particular. But so many in the US at least think that guns are magic wands that make things better. In my own experience, they do nothing but make things worse. For every good thing I hear about that happens with a gun, there are 4 or 5 bad things. Malfunctions, loaded weapons left out where kids can get them and play with them, or simple ignorance of weapon properties. A .50, even that pistol, will go through a LOT of materials and overshoot is a big deal with larger rounds or faster ones. So, yeah, kid plays with a gun, it goes off and kills a neighbor across the street. Now, don't get me wrong. I am NOT pro-gun control because I KNOW it will not work in the US without drastic changes. (Martial law type changes) I like guns. I like seeing them, handling them and shooting them. I grew up with them and learned what to do and what not to do with them from my Dad who grew up in Texas and served in the US Army in Vietnam. For me, a firearm is a tool. Like a knife, an axe or a hammer, it is designed to project force. No more, no less. If you need the tool or may need the tool, that is one thing, but simply getting it to have it is a bad idea. I am utterly ignoring the thought of a drunk teenager getting hold of a .50, pistol or otherwise, and deciding to shoot up his girlfriend's house because she dumped him. There is a REASON most towns in the 'Wild West' were VERY peaceful most of the time. The local law made newcomers to town take off their guns when they came into town. Not for any political reason, but because it is called 'survival' and 'we don't want to clean up the mess'. If you argued, you got shown the town limits by a group of deputies with shotguns! Simple. The famous gunfights were rare for a reason. Saloons were often at the edge of town to limit collateral damages. Alcohol and firearms are only a good combination in certain segments of the US population for culling the less than intelligent. Humans are selfish by nature. We do not want to give up anything we think is ours. We often do not care about anyone else. Why should we if we have guns? Well, except for the fact that there is ALWAYS someone with a bigger gun or more of them.
