@CyanideCarrotАй бұрын
Hmmm. Heavy austerity and letting the rich do whatever they want, leads to an increase in poverty. Where have we seen that one before?
@fabioriveros991Ай бұрын
I don't want to sound like I support Milei, but the increase in poverty is only according to ACU (an Argentinian university) and INDEC (a subsidiary of the government whose funding was cut), both of which are officially against Milei, and whose indicators don’t match those of international institutions, like the IMF or the UN in general
@Archangel657Ай бұрын
@@fabioriveros991so what does the real data suggest then?
@mauroalexisfernandez2357Ай бұрын
Don't listen to him...INDEC is under the direct control of Milei's national government and the UCA has been a well established and trusted organization when measuring poverty in Argentina during every single previous government. As a matter of fact, the same Milei based his criticism of previous governments on that very same University's data lol. Nobody in the government denies the numbers (they just blame previous governments, something every single president and political party has done for the last decades non-stop). Everyone is allowed to think if the situation will truly and systematically improve or not, yet data is accurate and non-biased (once again, INDEC is literally under Milei's direct control and UCA has been regularly attacked by peronistas, thus making it something very far from a staunch anti-milei organization).
@haloringindex3124Ай бұрын
Except that milei is right in blaming the previous government. Basically the previous Peronist government just keep figures lower by printing and spending massive amounts. That would never work in the long term and it didn’t exactly help. Their way of doing it is essentially print money until currency becomes worthless, then give the worthless money to poor people so they statistically aren’t poor anymore. This figure is more just unmasking the effects of the previous government, but since milei is the incumbent he takes the blame. Also of course there’s always gonna be some rise in those numbers when it comes to austerity, but that’s also the previous governments fault. Austerity is painful but it’s the ONLY way out of the mess the peronists got Argentina into.
@mauroalexisfernandez2357Ай бұрын
@@haloringindex3124 we were talking about data being biased or not...i am not defending Milei nor Cristina's/Alberto's Fernández government (as a matter of fact i despise them), however and agreeing with how atrocious the previous government was, this current government can't just put 100% of blame on the former (and disastrous government). Mistakes and wrong decisions have also been made during this, almost 1 year, incumbent regime. Once again, inflation has indeed reduced rapidly (even though it has stabilized with a slight pendulum up and down the 4% mark), but it is also true that recession, unemployment and under-employment (particularly poorly payed jobs) have made a speed-run even more astounding and decisive, together with other things such as (to name a few) severe troubles related to foreign currency reserves accumulation or delaying public services and related prices adjustment or national payments (both to other public or private entities) in order to avoid a political bad image for the government (thus, going against economic rationality, something shared by all previous regimes).

Milei explicitly predicted this: to get better, Argentina will have to suffer higher poverty for a while. Inflation is down 4% monthly, which by Argentinian standards is pretty low. If the peronist opposition won't succeed in sabotaging him, Argentina will get a LOT better in the next years.
