Thank you! I've been riding a secondhand CAAD13 105 disc for a few years and noticed some inconsistent shifting. Inspected the RD and the bushing bolt was really loose. Problem solved, right? Nope. After realizing my RD was hitting the chainstay while dropping to small cogs, it occurred to me that it probably wasn't mounted properly to the hanger (as you demonstrated). Bingo! Now it's set like it should've been all along. Cheers!

Great video, I thought there might be something to do with the remaining cable so I wrapped it around the pinch bolt so that it's pointed away from the cassette and spokes. But I guess the solution is to just trim it really short. I'm also having trouble with the inner links of the chain sticking on the pulley teeth. It seems that either the CN-HG701-11 chain is too narrow or the teeth on the upper jockey wheel are too thick. I'm hoping it will wear in. *Note it seems the chain from Amazon is counterfeit. Going to the LBS tomorrow to see if they have a real one.

It's great that you mention the two stops (lugs) on the rear mech and where to place it but I can find no mention anywhere on the internet as to why. After all, there are two lugs and a range of indicator marks telling me that it could in fact be mounted in a variety of positions between the two. I know that some B-stop screws on some Shimano 105 rear mechs make contact with the hanger stop whereas some (such as this rear mech) do not.

Outstanding video and great instructions, thank you 🙏 My 2x gravel bike was struggling to drop into the 11 cog, and a bit hit and miss getting into the 42 tooth as well on occasion - but always dropped into the 11 noisily once I was pedalling hard - what a pain in the ass it was to nail down until I found this vid. Both the H and L limit screws had been set quite conservatively 🙄 and once I watched this carefully 👀 and then turned each of them 1/2 a turn in the right directions - peace was restored - 👍😃😃

Did mine today but I just took the bottom jockey wheel out of the derailleur instead of breaking the chain as I couldn't be bothered. My gear cable rusted, split and blocked the outer cable casing also. My local dealer selling cheap crap cables as I bought it only a year or two ago but the previous cable that came with the Raleigh bike lasted over 20 years! So some things were better in the past. Now I've got to go get another cable and casing but I'll still limp into town on the bike (dislike walking) in the smallest front a rear sprockets until I get the parts to get it working again but as the bike breaks I learn new things like there is a b tension screw I'd previously always ignored. It's a messy business though, oil and dirt and crap wise. Easy with a nice new bike on a stand in your case lol.

Is it possible to adjust H and L bolts after the real derailleur cable has been attached and fixed to its place? Or, only possible to adjust the those bolts - smallest and largest cog screws without the cable attached? How is your 105 performing over the miles? I am encountering an issue with the 1st cable entry/exit angle before the pinch bolt. The cable is gradually wearing into the derailleur body. On other models it seems as though there is a tongue guard, which is omitted on this model and I could not see it installed within your video. Have you had any issues like this? Do you have any suggestions to fix please? I am unable to post URLs here but search for "Shimano RD-R7000 cable cut into thread?" and you should find the exact issue I am having, with pictures! It seems I am not alone

So my derailleur won’t go into the lowest gear but I’ve already turned the barrel all the way back (anti clockwise) and checked the low limiter screw. Do I have to pull more cable through the bolt of the derailleur to add more tension? Or what should I do? Thanks a lot, this video was very straightforward and easy to follow

If you are removing your derailleur and putting a new one on, that’s as good a time as any to do the test in the hanger to see if it’s bent or not. Or just replace it altogether while you’ve got it apart.

I have a problem with the chain swinging a lot, even falling off the Crown, when it's in the heaviest gear (big chainring and small ratchet) what could it be? The chain is not long, it didn't happen before, it happened after almost 2,000 kms. today I took the cage out of the gear and changed the spring to the other hole to increase the tension of the cage and keep the chain tighter, but I'm still in doubt, I don't know what else to do, could you help me?

Hi there, I have a troubleshooting issue. I have this derailleur on a 11-34t cassette. I got a new chain and I'm pretty sure I sized it right (big to big method, making sure it fully engaged on the rear sprocket). However, when I go from the smallest sprocket to the smallest chainring (I don't do use that combination while actually riding) my chain tension becomes non-existent or loose. I'm forced to push my B Screw Tensioner all the way in just to get enough tension for that combination. The other combinations have good tension otherwise. This looks bad because my pulleys end up being really far from the sprockets. Any thoughts on this ?
