Hi, I just wanted to thank you for the detailed reply. I am going to try to clean and re lubricate the reel and also check to make sure I have the lightest brake weights in my reel. It is a Curado 201E7 and there are red and green brake weights still in the box that the reel came in.Tony

With the line tensioner knob, can the bushing be replaced with a bearing? if so, 3mm x 10mm x 4mm is too small.

you just tried to oil a shielded bearing with a qtip witch did nothing other than to atract dirt to the outside of the bearing. You should get yourself a needle oiler.

Hi, could you confirm if it is proper to use just one centrifugal brake? I heard a long time ago that they needed to be used in pairs, but having two out on my reel just slows it down to much. Please let me know. Thanks, Tony

+Tony Gruber One centrifugal brake will cause the spool to wobble creating unwanted friction. They should be used in pairs, or in threes so the weight is distributed evenly as your spool spins. If two brakes are slowing your reel down too much check this: 1. Are the weights placed so as to spin distribute the weight evenly on the spool as it spins preventing wobble? 2. Is the reel assembled correctly without obstructions on the spool when it is spinning? 3. Is the reel oiled and cleaned as per the manufacturer's specs? 4. Is the cast control set correctly? 5. Is the rod of the correct weight rating for the lure you are throwing? Is the weight heavy enough to cast? 99% of the time its one of these that is preventing you from achieving the performance you want. If it is a Shimano reel, there are different brakes you can get. I believe there are JDM brakes that are lighter (they were available on the Scorpion at one time). I don't know where you could get them, but there are 3 different brake weights: clear, red and green. Each one is slightly different and I have found that they all have different braking properties. It may be worth looking into if you can't solve the problem any other way.

Should be only on the bearing. You were talking about the cranking handle bearing as far as I can tell.
