Cool, thanks. I'll have to check it out before I start tearing into them. I cleaned an old quantum reel the other day for the first time, and it wasn't too bad. I figured it was shot but a little oil brought it back to life.

Just got this saturday. My first baitcasting reel. Not to easy to learn how NOT to get backlash but i'm having fun. I put 20lb braid on it.(6lb test dia) and it took 150 yeards.

if you new to baitcasting or VBS system id recommend practicing with a half ounce weight and 4 of the caps pulled outwards, make sure they are evenly distributed, if two are pulled out then they should be across from each other, if three are pulled then they should be in a triangle formation, just to evenly distribute the braking force, as you get better with them you can loosen your spool tension knob and push down one cap at a time,

well if you twist and open the VBS latch on the spool you should see 6 pins with plastic tops on them. when you first get the reel all six should be down, that means they are all off, for every one you pull outwards they apply more pressure on the spool, like friction to slow the spool down so you wont overrun and backlash, make sure when pulling them out that you do so gently, you dont want to completely pop them off and lose them or mess them up,

@MultiBamaboy22 No Bait caster should if adjusted right. I have had the cheapest of the cheap up to the Revo STX. If its set up wrong it will back lash. Setup and practice is the key.. Nice Reel TRL
