Brilliant video, extremely well done. I’ve just realised I’ve never come across a video that simply explained the shifter system in actual use. Thank you.

Hi Eric, noticed your channel & watched this video about Shimano Di2. I just purchased my first Canyon road bike which has Ultegra Di2. It’s a super intimidating system… really enjoyed this video. Unfortunately, I do have a lot more questions & need help 🤦🏻‍♂️ Any chance to connect with you?

Excellent Video. I have a current Ultegra Di2 with the Function button on the Rear Derailleur. It doesn't seem to have this auto adjust mode as you demonstrated. am I missing something?
@EricB03

As far as I know it doesn’t do that. You can still however do micro adjustments. To be honest though I hardly ever have to re-index using that mode. Thanks for the comment and have a great weekend.

Full synchro moves both front and back derailleurs.

Just let the front (up or down) depending on where you programmed it to move based on back location based on shifting back. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense.

Excellent video. In particular I was intrigued with the calibrating procedure you used. I noted that you were in the small ring at the front, is this mandatory fro it it adjust correctly or do you also do the same procedure in the big ring?

@@47Seagull no not mandatory at all and I do it in the big ring usually and haven’t had any issues when in small ring. But usually small ring when going up hill so speed I am going is much slower

@@EricB03 Followed your instructions yesterday, fascinating. Normally I have adjusted the rear derailleur manually with the shifter or through the E-project app, neither have been totally successful for me, although It could be the KMC waxed chain that is causing my noise concern. A quick 100 meter ride suggested that this method is more successful. Won't be able to tell 100% for a couple of weeks due to other commitments. I'll get back to you 😀

Hi Eric, loved the video. just wondering whether 'Derailleur Adjustments via Junction Box' works on newer 12 speed ultegra di2 models (ones without junction boxes - where all of that functionality is in the battery and the rear derailleur) Thanks so much
@EricB03
@EricB03 5 ай бұрын
Functionality is in the detailed as it doesn’t have the junction box as you are aware. There is a button on the rear derailer to change modes, or do micro adjustments if necessary. Hope that answers your question and thanks for the comment.

@@EricB03 Dude your video is great. All these bike snobs on Reddit are saying manual mode is better but I love the idea of never having to think about which chainring to be in. On rolling hills it's a constant thing to think about. I can't wait to get Di2 and use synchro mode.

Thanks for all of this. Making my decision on SRAM vs Shimano that much more difficult lol. I had di2 on my previous bike but I’ve been tempted to give SRAM a shot since it’s harder to get caught without power since you can simply change batteries. I know it’s not the end all but since I have a MTB with those batteries, I should never be out of power! Nice video.

you'll get a warning if you are at 10% battery with Shimano, and shifting will be limited to the rear derailleur from that level on. So it's quite 'easy' to remember when to charge your battery.

@@EricB03 Yes bought a bike during height of covid and getting back into it doing about 30 miles a few times a week. Only thing I could find at the time was a bike with tiagra groupset that was actually probably a size too big for me and has mechanical disk brakes. So a 105di 12 speed and hydraulic disk brakes would be a real upgrade.
