Have to say I would cut the cable a bit longer (to allow getting hold of it with pliers later if necessary to re-tension) and always fit the end cap before doing all the set-up . . . it's very easy to get the cable to run on the wheel or mech and fray while you're doing the adjustments.

On these 22 speed 105 setups etc You really get only about 15 gears. If you want smooth quiet cycling. On either front chain ring you cannot use the full range of gears on the cassette ie the last at least three large sprockets will cause rubbing when using the large front ring no matter how you try to adjust it. This is also the case with the chain on the front small ring and trying to use the smallest 2-3 sprockets on the rear cassette. Yes I am a wear of the term “cross chaining”. This is rarely mentioned on any u tube videos. So you will not be able to use the full range of gears with this traditional gear setup as the tolerances so fine. I guess a 1x may be a good idea as I think you will be able to use all the gears on your rear cassette. Thanks for reading.

Debut ride was tonight! Precise shifting first time, loving the 1x setup already vs the Rival22. Need to test the 40-40 on some steeper off road hills and some all day tours. New chains now hot waxed which always adds smoothness.

Yep, put that exact RD on my '87 Bianchi resto-mod with 11-42 cassette. Works great - got 4500 miles on it. I usually leave the clutch disengaged as I find it smoother to shift into the biggest cog that way.

Hi, what's the clutch there to do?
@kentjoosten8149 Жыл бұрын
@@geoffwalmsley3066 If you are riding over bumpy terrain, it keeps the chain from slapping against the chain guard by dampening the derailleur bounce. I have the GRX on a road bike, so I don’t worry about that.

Hello, thank you very much for the good explanation and for sharing your knowledge, I have a question, is it advisable to use GRX 812 only with one chainring in front or with two? 😊
@FreeToCycle9 ай бұрын
Depends on the size of rear cassette you want to use. The 810 is meant for a double chainset and the 812 a single ring setup!
