My rear derailleur cable did this on my last 40 mile ride…..shifting had become erratic and it finally gave up. It had been awhile since I’d done one of these. Thanks to your video I went ahead and did all four cables just in case. Thank you, great video.

Used this video yesterday, saved me loads of time thank you! I needed to remove the lower piece of plastic too to get the broken cable head out.

Thanks, mate. I just found your video and resolved my problem exactly as you've demonstrated. You've saved me an expensive trip to a bike shop. Top bloke :)

ok not much new here except one key piece for me. The finger nail pull back of the flap without removing it starting at 6:10. Man, that saved me so much effort and time.

My screw has rusted, i cant open that bottom panel. Any tips? Great video

Oil? + patience ... awww ... it's a tricky one. Just don't butcher it, you need all the metal remaining in the screw head to turn that thing, eventually ...

That's an Aluminum frame not carbon,nobody puts cable noodles on gear cables on the downtube.🙈

Ah but now I have removed the broken end of the cable - like yours - from underneath, but the ratchet wheel will not turn.
@theoverengineer4 жыл бұрын
Ouch. Keep looking, a bit of broken wire strand is stopping it.
@caahacky4 жыл бұрын
@@theoverengineer I found the problem! The rubber hood cover was contacting one of the ratchet pawls and stopping the wheel turning - because I had removed the round plastic cover underneath to get the broken end out. Thanks again for the excellent video.
@usafmd3 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem. Turns out the rubber hood needs to be flipped back for it to work! Thanks to my friendly LBS!
