Shimano Ultegra FC - New for 2021!

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on many new reels this year. One of them is this reel, the Ultegra. At the $159 price point it is a phenomenal value. Long stroke spool, Micro Module II gearing, X Ship, X Protect, and a CI4+ body!

Hi bro, I am struggle to get the Vanford or Ultregra so far ... Can I have your advice on this as I am fishing on the saltwater... I was bought my zodias rod last few week... going to get a good reel to pair with it✌

As long as you keep them rinsed off, they both would be great. Personally, the vanford is in another world between the two. Both are equally great, but you won’t regret the vanford purchase.

The " + 1" stands for the roller bearing. Not the bearing in the knob.

I hated how my Stradic Ci4+ roller bearing gets noisy even if I rinse it down after every use. Do you guys know if this has an improved roller bearing?

@@G1Fishing have you tried oiling it? If you use it in salt water, it may need replacing if oil doesn't help.

@@Henry-xh8ec thanks for the reply. I've tried oiling it and it didn't help. Yes, I fish saltwater, but I rinse all my gear after every outing. I've already replaced the roller bearing just after the first couple months. After many research, apparently, that's the Ci4's major flaw.

@@G1Fishing I"m not certain they have changed the roller bearing, but i've also never heard a shimano bearing get loud. I guess I have been lucky as I have heard a lot of people on my channel have the same problem. I fish only fresh water and clean my reels every winter, so that may have something to do with it.

Yes sir. I’m not sure about online retailers, but my local shop has them. I believe they were one of the first to get them.

Not on the Ultegra. I’m not sure which models have it, but I know the Vanford does.

Glad to see you’re a Shimano fan, and I have been for over 45 years and I still have some of my early spinning reels that were $29.00 in the early 80’s and I can still use them with confidence, although I love the ci4 stradics and I have waited for the Ultegra to get its update to add it, and thanks to your review I will be getting both an Ultegra 3000 and a Vanford . I’ve got Loomis, Shimano and a number of other midrange spinning rods, please let me know what rods you use for both your Vanford and your New Ultegra 🎣🤷🏻‍♂️👍👍 Oh,Yeah, Love that hat 💯✊ I’m a Kentucky boy, retired in North Carolina 🎣😎🎣

I don’t think Shimano has ever made a bad reel. I have the Vanford paired with a Shimano Poison Adrena 6’11” mh. I’m going to put the ultegra on a 7’ ml Shimano zodias. Matt is a great guy, love the hat and hope he keeps pushing to the top. Thanks for watching and the support!
