Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL Pedals: 20,000 km Review

Great review JP. I have been using Shimano SPD pedals for decades. I used the Ultegra's when I was into road bikes and in the last 15 years it's been XT. And you are absolutely right JP they are the best bang for the buck all day long. I hope all is well my friend. Cheers :)

I think the internals of Shimano pedals are unbeatable. I bought two pairs of Crankbothers Stamp pedals to try something different and I have had nothing but problems with them They are crap! I got a new set of Shimano XYT pedals, and although they are a bit heavier than a lot of similar pedals, I know they won't let me down. Shimano all the way for me now!

@@Biking360 the XT pedals I have on my bike have well over 25,000 kms on them with no service. Being a mtb pedal they are heavier for sure. I am doing a drivetrain upgrade to XT 12 spd and some other new parts and I was going to get new pedals but I just can't justify doing since these are still going strong. Cheers

@@WanderingEyeOutdoorAdventures Good to know the XTs are so durable. The Crankbrother Stamp 7s were always needing to be rebuilt and regreased. A real pita!!

Great review there. I bought the last dura ace pedals made of metal (im an anti plastic guy) a few years ago and dont regret it at all. Looking forward to more reviews like this 🙂🙂🙂

I will be doing a review of my Dura Ace peals next week. If you have the extra cash I would definitely get them. There is not much difference in weight saving over Ultegra but they are insanely smooth.

It is actually slowly beginning to pick up which is often the way for ger reviews. I don't expect it to be super popular though as pedals are not exactly a sexy topic. As for algorithms, they are a complete mystery to me as well!
