I like the contrasts between the two transformations. The first one, where he was more conflicted of his new powers, is a slow and painful experience set in a dark foreboding backdrop, with a grungy, horroresque and tragic theme. But in the 2nd one, his transformation is done with a determination to do the right thing. So it's faster, set in an illuminated environment and the music, while still tragic, has a heroic undertone to it.

Everyone's talking about the first horrifying bone chilling transformation but no one mentions the second one which despite looking as painful and traumatic as the first manages to give a different feel to it, the first transformation is accompanied by droning sounds, screams of pain and a daunting music that sets a heavy mood showing how terrible this all is. The second ? It shows a hero. It shows that no matter how horrifying and painful it may be and how terrible the things he must do and face are one thing's for certain. He's our hero, he's our Kamen Rider and if it's for the sake of justice and peace he's willing to become even a demon.

I believe In the SIC Hero Saga edition for the continuity of Shin that if this prologue continues, we'll going to see an armored and belt version or a masked version of Shin. In The diorama in that magazine, we saw Shin using a belt that was similar to Ichigo Typhoon even we could see the Cyclone in the ruined scene. I think Black and Shin Kamen Rider has the same similarity (In Manga), Monstrous look, no belt at the beginning, and King stone at the forehead. But this concept is actually an attempt by Shotaro to restart the Kamen Rider concept, The Grasshopper monster beneath, but with the Henshin driver (the Belt), The user got additionally armored, which covers their body and becomes The Masked Rider. That's why we saw the Battaman (Grasshopper monster) look in the henshin sequence of kamen Rider Black before we saw the complete Rider look, I believe that this concept also will be applied to Shin but maybe later in the regular episodes, if studio or fans want it to continue, unfortunately, we never saw a continuation of Shin, which is this is what Shotaro's vision for the New Masked rider concept, not a cyborg mechanical machine, but a transformation in the cellular level, a human gene mutation into a new organism (Kaizo Ningen in Shotaro's version). But this concept (Belt driver or Henshin driver) are used in Heisei and Reiwa era such as Hibiki, Faiz, etc. The rider that is basically already a monster or his physics has changed first to become a monster so the user can use the Henshin driver to transform. Or the user uses the Henshin Driver but later affects their physics and slowly become the monster, for example, Kuuga and OOO. Also, this concept is used in the Kamen Rider Amazons, we saw the Omega Amazons monster form at the beginning and then the masked or armored form when he used the belt.

I actually like this movie, it shows that no matter what kind of man or creature comes from a transformation, the first time. Its painful, it will hurt, and it might destroy you at first. Then the second one is when the hero or mc of the movie has accepted his fate and decided to do the best that he has of his powers. In a way, Shin was a completely different rider and has alot of potential. I wish Toei does make a Shin show on Amazon, heck this movie gives me ideas of a Shin reboot or continuation story.

Kamen Rider Shin's transformation, compared to other Riders, is just an awful transformation of Shin Kazamatsuri's entire body in some kind of a cellular level. That already smells like a reference to John Carpenter and his "The Thing" when the alien hosts' cells were getting replaced by aliens' ones, therefore transforming them into a random crap. Shin's transformation is not a good old traditional transformation into a Rider in suit and helmet (as with most Riders in the franchise), but a creation of an absolutely new and different organism. During the first transformation, we can see that grasshopper's genes in Shin's DNA are kind of "eating" his flesh, therefore creating a new, grasshopper one (as mainly seen on his head). And Kamen Rider Shin's appearance is not a classic fusion of human and Rider, it's sort of skinned, hypertrophied and mutilated flesh of Shin Kazamatsuri himself.
