This is my own "Work in Progress" personal close up rendition of Shin Lim's 52 Shades of Red. I have a long way to go, but figured I would post a progress video of where I am at today.
If you have not seen Shin's performance of his 52 Shades of Red, please do yourself a favor and check it out here • 52 Shades of Red (LIVE... .
I also recommend watching any other Shin Lim performance you find on the internet or otherwise, he is an amazing magician and a great mind of magic.
Special thanks and shout out to all my friends in magic and otherwise who keep me motivated to continue to be a kid at heart and enjoy life no matter which way I choose to enjoy it. #nevergrowup

Really nice take on the routine. My performances are faster paced with the reveals slowed down so I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the video after 1 minute. But then your black art take on disappearing aces rather than a spread was really nice and your added selected card was a great touch. Thanks for sharing

Really nice! How long did you practice to get this smooth?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 8 жыл бұрын
+myoldreteacher Not near long enough lol! In all honesty, making the gimmicks, working the routine, then working the routine to the music, I would say at the point the video was created (which was only a test video to see where I was, not my final cut), I would say 1 week's worth of time.
@myoldreteacher

A WEEK? WOW! Even though I know a lot of card moves and picked up a few things you did, this was still pretty smooth. You clearly have a natural talent for this.

There a few flashes, but overall that was a great performance. Really makes me want to purchase this routine. I had a few WTF moments when you disappeared the aces, and those color changes were spot on. Did it take a while to get this routine down?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 9 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It took me a while to get my routine down, but to be honest the trick itself is very simple to perform (including the disappearing aces). It takes a little time to build some of the gimmicks, but once they are built you are good to go, then all you have to do is get a routine set up and put it on film! Be sure to post it here so I can check it out as well! Thanks ~

@ChadBixby 10 жыл бұрын
There is some craft work that takes place, but it is not at all hard to do, and the results of what you get for the little work is amazing. I should also note, the 52 Shades portion of the routine does not require any craft work, you can literally open the box and do some amazing stuff... the craft work just allows you to take it to the next level. Hope you get it!! And if you do, post some videos of your work! Thanks for commenting.

Hello, I know this performance was uploaded a while ago but congratulations on it, it's really well done. I was wondering if it would be worthwhile buying it myself, I'm not any form of a professional at magic and would say I'm intermediate, so I was wondering if I would need years of experience to come close to a performance like this or if I can rely on the gimmicks involved more. If not, I'll be sure to try and buy it straight away because it's breathtaking. Hope you see this, all the best.
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 8 жыл бұрын
JacksEdits I am a newbie... so if I can do it, you can do it. The answer to your question is YES, it is definitely worthwhile purchasing it and playing around with it to come up with your own routine. If you have a little gumption and can be a little creative, you can make the gimmicks and turn this into a fantastic routine! Best of luck, and post some videos if you get one up! Let me know if you have any other questions, and thank you for the comments.

great performance of an awesome trick! i do card magic for some months now and thought about buying this trick. would you recommend buying it or do you think it's too hard for beginners?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 8 жыл бұрын
+M-Lan I would not recommend this for "true" beginners. There is a lot of crafting involved and to truly pull off a good performance, and you may need some solid card skills to make it all work out. Pro level skills are not necessarily required for this by any means, but someone who is just getting into magic might struggle with the gaff's, and might not understand the DVD when shin says "perform a bottom palm or top change". Just my opinion thought, to each their own! Best of Luck!

+chad bixby oh because i saw a review of it and it said i need replacement gimmicks to make all 8 effects and that he only got to make the gaff deck routine, sandwich vanish, box colour change..... so i dont need extra anything expect cards?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 8 жыл бұрын
+|Happimals| for what you saw in my routine, you will not need any more. I believe I had enough to make the box as well, but I might be mistaken. I guess I would play it safe and get the extras if you really think you'll need them. Good luck and post a video!

Rischae not a switch, but is a gimmick that needs to be made that comes with the with 52 Shades of Red package. 😉

I really like 52 shades of red But does he explain all the tricks he shows in the trailer? And does he explain the things he shows in the live show?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 9 жыл бұрын
What's in the trailer yes, whats in his live show "almost". 98% of everything in his live show is in the DVD, there are one or 2 subtleties that are not shown, but do not have an impact on the performance at all. Best of luck!

Al Cardarelli Ah thanks so much man! I'm not too worried about any negative comments, they are just telling it like it is (or how they feel about it anyway). It's ALL good! It's just crazy this stupid "progress" video is getting any attention at all. Makes me wish I would have just posted the final video! (Hindsight) LoL. Thank you for the kind words!!!

When you change the colour of the 4 aces the first time round you can see something in your hand, other than that a good performance

How long did it take you to learn this?
@ChadBixby
@ChadBixby 8 жыл бұрын
Not too long really, in my case I put this routine down in less than a week really. Most of the "slight of hand" moves that I did in the video (as bad as they were) I already knew how to do, and the rest of it was just me putting together an act that fit my style. If you do buy 52 Shades of Red, and you understand how the gimmicks and the trick works (which is not that difficult), then you can just add your own flare to it and put together a routine in no time! Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions!

Dude that was an amazing performance? While Shin Lim performed it best, yours was still enjoyable to watch! Looking at it, I'm sure it isn't easy to perform, but aside that is it worth the money to buy this trick?

Thank you kindly!! In hindsight I really wish I would have just waited and posted my final video rather than this "work in progress", had no idea it would get so many hits. There are a lot of things you can do with 52 shades right out of the box with no craft work at all. However, the great thing about it is that you have the opportunity to make it whatever you want, just depends on the time and energy you are willing to put into it. If you get it, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hello Subedi! We all start somewhere, and I was fortunate enough to have people take me under their wing, and I would be more than happy to help you out wherever I can. KZbin is your friend! Look on KZbin for "free magic tricks", it's a good start to get your feet wet. Also, get on sites like "penguinmagic.com" or "hocus-pocus.com" and watch the video trailers for new tricks. Find something you like and buy it! It does not have to be expensive to get into magic, just have a passion for it, practice as much as you can, and most important... Perform, Perform, Perform! The more you do, the better you get! I am always here for any questions you have my friend. Best of luck!!
