Actually, it's more like Jimin is like Taemin. Taemin came first. He debuted with SHINee as their main dancer in 2008 at the tender age of 14 (intl. age) He is a totally self-taught dancer; no formal training like Jimin. In fact, Taemin is one of Jimin's idols and has since become one of Taemin's friends and part of the "Padding Squad", a group of Taemin's friends who formed the "squad". Taemin is also a member of SuperM (group comprised of some of the best artists from 4 groups in SM) and has a very prolific solo career from 2014 to now. In fact, he just dropped a new and chart topping album this past fall called, "Never Gonna Dance Again, Act 1 and Act 2" (It's a 2-part album). He will be dropping his Japanese album on May 2nd. He is the only Korean artist to have gained the nickname "the Korean Michael Jackson". Although, we SHAWOLs (SHINee fans) don't often call him that. Taemin idolizes Michael Jackson, but has his own flare. I would encourage you to check out his latest 2 solo title track MVs from NGDA, "Criminal" and "IDEA". They are sister songs and are comprised of the concepts of Stockholm syndrome ("Criminal") which leads to Plato's Theory of Forms ("IDEA"). Taemin is deep and very intellectual. His music is meticulous and always different. They just released their newest album a month ago called "Don't Call Me" with a title song/MV of the same name. I think you would really like it. Then, today, they released a new title song/MV for the repackaged DCM album. The MV, "Atlantis" is gorgeous and, of course, the vocals are out-of-this-world! EVERY SONG ON THE ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE of vocal artistry and harmonies to die for. They are VERY experimental and innovative, always bringing something new to Kpop and setting the trends for the industry. They are not restricted to any one genre, but glide through and in between every genre ever known often mixing genres or creating their own. It's not a stretch to say that Kpop wouldn't be what it is today if SHINee didn't exist. No one in Kpop ever says anything bad about SHINee. They are the golden standard for new groups to strive for and are often cited as the catalyst for new idols entering the industry. @@prettyyuzu I think they barely mentioned Jimin, just gave a summary of Taemin. There's no comparison other than 'Taemin came first' and 'Taemin had no formal training' which are both true. Skill is subjective and they both dance with a distinct style, think they understand this and don't try to say which one is better (though they may well have their favourite). I understand Jimin gets an unfair rep inside and outside the fandom and people underestimate his dancing (downright dismissing it or saying he can only do contemp) but this isn't the person to criticise. They're just celebrating Taemin as we would Chim. Reminds me of AbbieA's(?) summary of Jimin that's posted on so many reaction videos, actually.

So I'm clarifying. 2) I at no time said anything that could be construed as "putting Jimin down". 3) I intentionally didn't say anything about who is better because I know how rabid certain fans can get. 4) Since dance is subjective, I will now say that Taemin is my favorite performer/artist and ultimate bias, and SHINee is my absolute favorite group. This is not a crime and anyone is free to disagree. However this doesn't take anything away from Jimin's skill or mean that Jimin isn't a wonderful dancer. It's called an opinion. Something everyone has. You don't have to like or agree with it. 5) Lastly, enjoy your favorites, and allow the rest of us to enjoy ours.

Jonghyun sadly committed suicide in 2017. The group celebrated it ‘s 14 year anniversary I think this year. Min Ho and Onew just recently were discharged from military service. Check out the new stuff. This year is their comeback since the remaining four are together again. Min Ho is an actor too, he co-starred with BTS’s V in Hwarang Poet warriors. They are friends. Jimin describes Taemin as one on his best friends who is very dear to him.

1. Finally! Shinee on track and live is beauty to behold, though I haven't kept up with their stuff because of Jonghyun's absence. It was a punch to the gut what happened. I commend them for continuing to put up great material, though. 2. I feel the same about Taemin and Jimin! They're two different people but the vibe I get from them can be similar at points. I wonder if Jimin was inspired. Judging from their interactions on cam, they're pretty friendly with each other which is great to see as a multi stan. 3. Jimin from BTS, Taemin from SHINee and Kai from EXO are really good friends and they are all part of a group of Idol friends, called "The Padding crew" -- which is named after the puffy winter jackets that they all wear as a sort of group uniform :D. The padding crew consists of: Taemin from SHINee, Kai from EXO, Timoteo from HotShot, Ravi from VIXX, Jimin from BTS, Ha Sungwoon from Wanna One and non-celebrity friend from school Jung Kwonho who Taemin and Kai have known since they were kids. Timoteo was an SM Entertainment trainee at the same time Kai and Taemin were trainees, but he left SM and eventually became a member of HOTSHOT which is a Star Crew Entertainment group. Taemin and Kai have been best friends since their trainee days and they are so much alike that many in the industry refer to them as twins. This year will be SHINee's 13th anniversary. So SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and yet they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than many of the members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. You just discovered why SHINee still hold one of the top spots after more than 12 years in the industry. If you are impressed now, just wait until you see a full concert. So far, they have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 12+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (pronounced O-new or ah-new, the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are currently all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew turned 31 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry. So, although Jimin, Taemin and Kai are all around the same age, Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee when he was 14 years old -- 5 years before BTS and 4 years before EXO -- so Taemin is considered their senior. Taemin is also one of THE BEST dancers in the industry, and that's not just a fan's opinion, but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists in the industry and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances. SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans (SHINee World or Shawol for short) will tell you we know who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed, with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop". This performance of "Excuse Me Miss" was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015. However, I think the song was originally released in 2013. This is the concert where the majority of SHINee's best live performances are from. If you watch this full set, or even the full concert, you will see why Jonghyun goes into that phone booth at the end. They are about to perform their next song, "One minute back." And you also really need to see their performance of "Close the Door," Which they performed right before "Excuse Me Miss." As you heard in this performance, SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers for a reason. :D SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography like this. SHINee live is like none other, and their stages are some of the best in the industry. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. SHINee literally set the standard when it comes to live performances. It is actually known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are Idol's Idols and legends among legends.

@SaM I don't know where you get your information from, but I have seen many times where fans have caught all these members of this group hanging out together. Plus, I know for a fact that Ravi from VIXX and Timoteo from Hotshot and Jung Kwonho hang out all the time with Kai and Taemin. How do you know that Jimin doesn't hung out with them on occasion? You don't know what he does in his personal life, and I have heard he often hangs out with other celebrities and they often have drinks together.

@SAM Just because you are a fan of someone and think you know everything about them, doesn't mean you know what they do in their personal lives. And just because they might not hang out on a weekly basis does not mean they are not friends. I have recently heard Kai talk about how he is friends with Jimin and that they hang out on occasion. Plus, I never said they are always together or that they are crazy close. All I said was they are friends. THAT IS A FACT, nothing more nothing less. Just because my best friend moved to another state, does not mean I don't consider her a friend. And just because I am busy with work and family, etc. doesn't mean I don't make time for friends. Idols have personal lives and they hang out with friends away from the public eye and they have secret places they can go where they aren't seen by the public, so you don't know. They can still be friends and still maintain their friendship circle even if they don't have time to physically be in the same place as each other. There are things like social media and chat rooms that are private just for them. You are not all seeing and all knowing, so how do you know?
