My first time seeing this performance and I fully understand why you told me to watch it.
This performance had everything.
It made sense to celebrate SHINee's birthday with my friend Micah from @Koko3op that I met through SHINee.
We connected after I reacted to Don't call me and was exposed to these kings for the first time.

The thing about SHINee is that they are all great performers, idols, and artists. However, JongHyun, in my opinion, is one of the few idols who are just one of those people who are naturally born to shine and be an entertainer. People like JongHyun just take up a stage and know how to work a crowd or camera differently, all while setting trends and breaking barriers.

So sad tho, that someone who was born to be a star, a musician, shouldn't have ever gone up the stage... I got into Shinee late, back in 2016, and when I watched their shows, or his appearances in SNL honestly, I was in love. He was such a fun, bright, nice and open-minded person. Maybe that's why I was completely shocked when I heard that dreadful news. Rest in peace, Kim Jonghyun. You did more than well.

For me Jonghyun is soul music..if you check his albums later, you're going to understand what I'm saying. Shinee is like a body whose members are all connected and needed, they complement perfectly each other and everyone have their place in the group. Also they're excellent performers and artists. ❤

This performance of "Excuse Me Miss" was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015. However, I think the song was originally released in 2013. This is the concert where the majority of SHINee's best live performances are from. (It's the same concert their "Ode to You" and "Dynamite" performances you watched are from.) If you watch this full set or, even the full concert, you will see why Jonghyun goes into that phone booth at the end. They are about to perform their next song, "One minute back." And you also really need to see their performance of "Close the Door," Which they performed right before "Excuse Me Miss." As you heard, SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers for a reason. :D As you may know, SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography like this. SHINee live is like none other, and their stages are some of the best in the industry. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. SHINee literally set the standard when it comes to live performances. It is actually known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are Idol's Idols and legends among legends. They are one of the groups that pretty much made Kpop what it is today. I also recently found where someone has reuploaded the whole concert DVD of SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul -- the whole 3+ hours -- and it even has English subs for all the parts where they interact with the audience, right in the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIXOn4KCmtiImZY It really feels like you are right there at this concert. You should take the time to watch this whole concert sometime. This is accurate. I’ve watched the individual clips of each of the most popular songs of that concert, but the feeling you get when watching the full concert is totally different and so awesome. I’ve already known they are phenomenal performers but seeing that concert in its entirety is on another level! Misconceptions was my first SHINee comeback after becoming a Shawol... i only watched the concert with the iconic dibidibidis rap lol... but thanks for sharing the link. hopefully someday i can watch it. im terrible busy atm but I freaking love so many songs from that era (Like a fire, SHINe, Orgel, Nightmare, Spoiler, Dynamite, Evil are awesome) i have so many memories when i used to chat in OH with fellow fans too) thankfully SHINee is a group i can return from time to time (being my other bias f(x) but sadly disbanded)

I believe that SWC4 was them at their very, very best. Everyone was on their "A" game that show. The part where you said that they are the standard for live performance, started with this show in my opinion. I have seen videos of other shows (EXO are amazing!) but they just do not seem to get completely to this show's standard.

I think Jonghyun was the essence of SHINee in terms of their craft music wise because he was exceptionally in tuned with his musical prowess that he ends up shining light even onto his members. I've always thought Jonghyun's voice to be something else... like it's very powerful without having to go super high (though he can and does), and it's also a very masculine voice without being overly deep or gravely. Like that's a man's voice. But it's also very sweet and comforting (kinda like IU's, which is why I love Gloomy Clock with the two of them), and also very sultry and sexy without being aggressive. For a long time, my heart ached whenever I heard Jonghyun's voice, but now I just enjoy it for the beautiful gift that it is and take comfort in how much he loved performing and sharing his music, both his voice and lyrics.

If I have to compare, I’d describe Jonghyun as a more outward performer who engages with the crowd. While Taemin, for instance, on the other hand, is more inward. Being international stars is party about the groups talent/quality and party about the marketing strategies and how the group is internationally promoted. For example, groups like BTS and Black pink today are huge bcos no doubt they are extremely talented but also a huge credit goes to how good they were promoted to the American and Indian croud... Shinee on the other hand are extremely talented.. but they were never properly promoted.. Thats my opinion i might be wrong..

We have to cope with this issue well, they have longevity and success even respect from the industry that many groups want but can't achieved. They are sooooo smooth. It's my favorite performance. Taemin has said that this concert was when they really started working as a team that they no longer fought with each other about performance and concepts. They were really feeling themselves this whole concert. The beginning of this concert says everything you were going to witness. They sing acapella. 2:30 and 5:03 the chemistry between Jonghyun and Taemin is incredible, someone said "eye sex." Never seen Taemin connect so well in any of his collaborations. Jonghyun is the most "human" of SHINee members, the one who really reaches out emotionally to others and knows how to interact and look at people's eyes. He is the most naturally flirty of the 5. BTW, Minho, best legs in the industry.

I told you my brain short-circuited on this one, especially because of Key. 😜😜 And SHINee inventing twerking before it was even a thing. Also, Jonghyun changed the arrangement of the bridge, as compared to the recorded version. I'd recommend that you also watch the spiels during this concert as they're hilarious! Minho mimics Jonghyun's "New Bridge" and although he was just joking around, he actually hits the same notes as Jonghyun's. Jonghyun is indeed something special in a group of already brilliant artists. From what I've read, Jonghyun encouraged singing together and songwriting collaborations and led his members in pushing artistic and creative boundaries.

Yeah I agree with him that Onew is so dangerous. He looks so cute everytime but.... but... after you known him well, you will change your mind for sure. Actually, Taemin got me first one, then is Key, then is Jonghyun and in another day i don't know... I release that Onew got me already! After 11 years he is my only bias.
