This brings back fond memories. I was stationed with the US Air Force in Japan 1969-1972. In the spring of 1970 I took the Shinkansen From Tokyo to Kyoto to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival. Although this was 50 years ago, I recall the train being similar to the one in this video.

I've been there 3 times as well! I don't like the JR Pass though, it's quite inconvenient because it's restricted to JR lines only. We often find ourselves closer to stations belonging to other operators, with the dilemma of walking greater distances and save money OR walk shorter distances and save time. Time is precious when in Japan I think, so we always go with the most convenient option for transportation. I can't wait to go back there either!
@shizukamori67554 жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-lk5cu "Restricted to JR lines only" ? That's why it's called a JR Pass. Duuuhh....
@adimasguntur4 жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-lk5cu well, it kinda really2 helps, since most cities have JR line. But the true shine of JR Pass is for a railfans, like me :) Imagine unlimited train ride, hop in hop out, just taking random trains and then go back again, picking shinkansen based only by its color, only just to get lost in Japan. Damn, such a good days. Will surely do that again after all this COVID-19 passed.

Since 1989 I have visited Japan on a regular basis. My last trip started exactly today last year on a flight from Munich, Germany, to Osaka, continuing by Nozomi-train to Nagoya. From Nagoya I used my pre-purchased Japan Railpass to visit various places in Japan, as far as Niigata, on day-trips. Except Sapporo, where I took the very first flight from Nagoya and returned on the last flight in the evening. It was an amazing journey! I enjoyed it very much, especially all the various, delicious food, from very good Okonomiyaki in Nagoya to fresh Sushi in Niigata! Unfortunately Japan is still closed for tourists from the EU, so I am not able to visit your country this year 😔 Your videos satisfy my wanderlust to visit Japan, as long as I am not able to visit again!
