I was so blessed to spend an evening at the Magic Castle with Dai and his "crew" of friends in the early 80's! His coin work was outstanding! He and Mark Wilson evaluated me for membership into the castle!...at midnight! I was exhausted!!! It was a great show! They loved it! I remember watching several live performances of Harry Blackstone Jr. as a kid, and happy that one of my students was mentored by him before he passed away! "Magic...Pass it on!"

I love this trick and have used it several times. The only change I made was to place the 7 cards on top regardless. If they say they saw it, it's 4, 5, or 6. If not, it's 8, 9, or 10. That way, if someone happens to see the trick twice, it may be a different ending, and it's one less movement to make.

I love this trick but also love the addition of logic to the movement of the random card to the bottom! So many tutorials are like and then you count 10 cards and move them to the bottom and you’re like “Why?” this little attention to detail gets you to clean up the dirty work without looking dirty doing it. Great work Spidey 👍🏻 also love the shout out for Dai Vernon, a true master for anyone that wants to handle cards!

Nice trick! I'm one of those people that wouldn't have accepted any of the first 6 cards but as you said, it doesn't matter; just start the trick from the beginning. Even I'd accept one of the cards sooner or later and would have been tricked. The real meat of this trick is in the reveal.

Please, no one do double undercut to control the card. It looks terrible, and to any beginner magician, it's so obvious that you're controlling a card. Just get the break and then overhand shuffle the 3 cards as a block to the bottom, and continue with a false overhand shuffle. There's no chance you get called out for doing this. You'll thank me later.

An idea if you get the 5th card while performing instead of doing the double lift, is to put the packet on top of the deck so you have the spectators card in the second position and then you can tell the spectator that their card is not on the top and show them the top card, and place it somewhere else. Then you could do some sort of flashy reveal for good effect
@B1SQ1T2 жыл бұрын
The only thing is that they've already seen you look at the top couple cards at that point. Granted, they'll still have no idea how it actually got there and from their perspective it'd probably be equally as amazing, but maybe for some spectators that pay huge attention to detail or those people that are actively tryina guess what you're doing they might call you out on it. But that's still a pretty cool idea and I think there are probably ways to do something like that in a clean way :D
@reptilexcq23 жыл бұрын
I know a trick for ages that does pretty much the same...I used 9 cards and ask them to remember a card and put them back and then show them 3 cards once at a time and identify if they see their card, do this twice eventually their card will jump to the middle and you can show them that...that is their card. The difference is this guy find a way to use the whole deck to hide the card but I think if he ask them to identify their card twice, rather than once...then the trick does not need to be that sneaky.

Hi Spidey, I checked this out the other week and loved it. I have changed it slightly and I wonder what you think? I was a bit uncomfortable with the card (if they had chosen one of the cut to bottom cards) being so close to the bottom of the deck so instead of using the pinch once I have cut to the bottom I then do a interlink cut (one that keeps bottom and top packs in the same position and as I do it I glimpse the bottom card and remember it (which is one of the 3 as I don’t place a random card at the bottom). They don’t see this card because as I cut the deck it is facing me. I then do a scissor cut placing the bottom pack into the middle of the deck leaving the top pack in position. All I need to do then is run through the pack and note when I pass what was the bottom card knowing that that and the 2 after are one of their choices. So once they confirm they have seen their card I just carry on the trick as you do. All this seems a bit convoluted but it’s not really and I just do it habitually now. The result being that their card is way in the middle of the deck when they see it which I feel makes it even more of a miracle when you produce it. Thanks for the trick. I love it and use it in my closeup a lot.

if it's the card on the deck you should let them turn over themselves for epic effect so that they would feel the power of making it themselves.

And if it’s the top card in your hand you could put these 5 down on top and then let them turn it over. If it’s the fourth card I don’t have a more convincing idea than the double flip.

I think it actually might be better if you don't try to be too sneaky about peaking at the cards as you take them at the end. The deck has been shuffled and "cut" multiple times now, and you honestly don't know what their card is. It would still be impressive if after just seeing a card or two you decided to stop there and got it right. Of course doing it without looking at all would be preferable, but not with the cost of trying to get a sneaky peek, which just looks suspicious and wouldn't be hard for a lot of people to notice.
