Shiny Beldum in Pokemon Emerald after 30,180 soft resets via Battle Video method!

The Battle Frontier is a colossal undertaking for anyone but I want to go one further and take it on with a team of full odds shinies. Shiny Beldum is the first member of my team after a whopping 30,180 soft resets. I used the Battle Video method for this hunt which is explained in the intro but it allowed me to continuously progress through new frames until I hit a shiny frame. I didn't think it would take that long!
The obvious point to note is yes, obviously this is an easier hunt in Ruby and Sapphire with a working battery but I personally like to hunt things on the save file they're going to be used on. It's just a preference. Steven Stone's Beldum passed to me (Steve) in my childhood copy of Emerald. Pretty cool if I say so myself.

Great shiny and it's nice to see someone else embarking on this quest while hunting in Emerald! I'm currently working on what I call a "Gold Star Glitch Team Quest", where I catch a gold star frontier team from three different areas of gen 3 games where you can shiny hunt when you're normally not supposed to using glitches. I caught a 6IV shiny Swampert from the Sapphire battle tower using the roamer glitch, a shiny Arcanine in the battle pyramid with the pyramid glitch, and I'm currently hunting a shiny Breloom in the battle pike using a glitch move. Shout out to this vid. Just the other day, I did some Shiny Hunting in Sun, via SOS chaining, and was able to get a Shiny Naughty Natured Beldum, with four of the correct corresponding stats. WOW, like you said, I have never seen this hunt done in Emerald. And over 30k, too! I have hunted Groudon and Rayquaza in Emerald, but they are a piece of cake compared to these gift hunts. I really got interested in your content during your Roamer Quest, and your videos helped to keep me motivated during my painfully long roaming Latias hunt (I have watched your HG shiny Latias video multiple times :D). I did the method of hard resetting for early shiny frames. Ended up getting a shiny frame on like frame 300. Was only a matter of finding the right timing. Got an entire shiny team and some legendaries that don’t have long intros (looking at you Deoxys)

My internal battery is broken in my copy of Emerald, and so, I discovered I have a very early startup shiny frame that allowed me to find shiny Groudon and Kyogre in under 30 mins. They both have a jolly nature.

If you take your game to any type of "retro" video game store they will replace it for you for about 10 bucks. Places that deal in older games like GameCube, PS1 and GBA stuff almost always have the soldering kit in the back to do it with.

Quick question: don’t you also need the battlepass video when hunting legendaries with run away method? I mean if you want to end your hunting session and switch off your device, the next time you launch the game, you will get back to the frame 1 right? So in order to start after the frame you stopped your last session on, won’t you need the video or am I misunderstanding the way this works?

Thanks. I have already hunted the Lati twins in Ruby and Sapphire for my Roamer Quest. It's not possible to hunt in Emerald as you can't access the Battle Video before the Roamer is generated unfortunately. I will do the Eon Ticket one eventually as I have that card :)

I like to remind most shiny hunters about the ability synchronize. If you go through the trouble of doing all this, it helps to give you the nature you want. Not sure what gen this trick starts working but its something to keep in mind

It doesn't work for static Pokemon in Emerald. You also don't need to remind us. Illuminate gives us faster encounters and it doesn't stack with Synchronize. People also generally prefer random natures. It's more fun.

It's good to see a recent Emerald shiny, I'm currently doing RA's for Rayquaza and I'm nervous about potential repeat frames, but I'm playing for about 2hrs a piece so highly unlikely. One thing I'd love to see from you is a tutorial/guide on how you record all your games. Your GBA and GC footage is so clean, I'd love to know what hardware and software you use. I assume a DS cap card for GBA, but if you have sources for where to find them too, that'd be super handy.

The first video I've seen regarding the battle video method. Do you have to do the same as with the starter hunt, where you do 50 tests and then start a new game, but obviously you make a new video every 50 resets instead? Congrats on the shiny mascot Steve! It's a beautiful line of shinies.

Could you in theory use the same battle video for other hunts since you now know there is a shiny frame close to where the video sets your frames (like how getting a shiny starter in Emerald means you have "early shiny frames" when you soft reset your game), or did i misunderstand how the battle video affects your frames? Yes! I could use this video (still saved actually) to give myself Rash shinies with those IVs. MrLetsPlayIt actually reset over his Chikorita on purpose and then found it again. A Lonely natured Chikorita. Olig did it too though his was accidental. They're obviously RNG clones but it's still perfectly possible. I haven't tried to get the timing right but I may do one day.
