This is a great a deal. This same watch has been sold by Tissot for, at least, 10 years. I bought it 10 years ago when this watch ran on ETA 2834-2 movement rather than the newer Powermatic 80 movement. It was more than double the price at the time. I had my watch serviced recently, and servicing cost more than what @Shiny Things paid for the watch new. I like this watch a lot. After 10 years, it still looks great.

Said to myself it’d be a present to myself once I completed my apprenticeship which unfortunately was delayed due to covid and a reorganisation within the company. I just got this for Christmas after pointing it out to my wife back in August when it went down to USD 260/280 on Jomashop. I work for a Swiss owned company and visit there two to three times a year. I am regularly in shops making components and sub-assemblies for a host of top end brands and while this is not a Jaeger, Patek, or Zenith it is an excellent entry to an automatic movement which is Swiss made and suitable for wearing every day. This watch is simply an outstanding deal for what you are getting and I could not be more pleased. As an added benefit the band with its orange stitching, it doesn't look red to me, perfectly matches the black with orange stitching upholstery on my 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona in Go ManGo (orange).

I have the exact same case and movement but on a bracelet. I remembered the value proposition from my teens. I achieved 88.2 hours on a single charge! The accuracy is decent. Lume is poor and no AR coating I believe. I like the day date function and arrangement. Decent choice for a first "Proper watch"

I love reviews of watches I already own. I have the white dial on a bracelet. I think the watch is brilliant and quite versatile. It's accurate and can be worn on different occasions. The only drawback is that the bracelet does not taper and the links are also quite thick, which makes the bracelet look like a motorcycle chain wrapped around your wrist.

Bracelets can be changed anytime. Important thing is that you have it in the first place. So hard to get a good matching Tissot bracelet.

I bought my first Tissot 2 years ago and now I have 16 watches, 5 of which I will sell but not Tissot watches,just micro brands. I love my seastar with its green fumee dial and automatic movement,80 hrs power reserve but the supplied bracelet was rubbish so swapped to an orange FKM, IT LOOKS AWESOME NOW

I think you may find if you measure the diameter on the diagonal it might be 39. A video I watched a few days ago indicated the diameter of a watch is measured on the diagonal. Meaning 2-00 to 8-00.

Thanks for the suggestion. I measured 2 to 8 and still got greater than 39mm, 41.1mm actually 😏 Basically, the case is wider than the bezel at any point, so no matter where I measure it will measure wider than the bezel diameter of 39mm.

As an everyday wear I think it's perfectly adequate. The case back was assembled at Tissot factory, so should be well sealed. And there is no much need to open it, i.e. no battery to replace. As for the crown - it should be ok for some water exposure, even for an (eccidental 😳🙂) swim. I wouldn’t treat it as a swim watch though, I would get a Seiko diver or SM 🙂 to swim with. Yes, its Powermatic 80, same is used on PRX, PR100, Gentleman and also Seastar. However, some of the movements used to have COSC chronometer certification, which was to my knowledge not yet the case of PRX, but PR100. Its a very precise movement even without the certificate. The drawback of this movement is some plastic part, however, I did not found any complaints on it on the internet so far.

Powermatic80((23 jewels) movement is a Plastic movement. Escapement wheel and pallet fork are 100% made from polymer material without 2 missing jewels. Hamilton and Mido are with Powermati80(25 jewels) which is normal version of movement. Every watches with a movement of powermatic80(23 jewels only) should be lower price. Many people don't know this point.

I do believe the case back is actually only a friction fit case back, not snap on. It's rather common with many Tissot watches. Also, one thing that really irritates me is that the rotor is actually made of plastic and is lighter weight than the equivalent metal one. The downside to this is that in the event the rotor rotation becomes a bit stiff, the rotor isn't heavy enough to drag itself round. Although i do like the PM80 for its power reserve, i do also wish that Tissot kept an option for the traditional 2824 with 4hz tick.

I want this watch...BUT there seems to be a LOT of complaints. It seems the band comes in 2 different lengths, and some people randomly get the very short band, and some get the very long band. Also, doesn't 23 jewels mean it has plastic parts in it with a Swatch movement that has sections fused together as to deem it 'unfixable' if something ever goes wrong? If that is the case, then a Seiko is a better purchase by far....right? Lastly, it seems like it is a strap monster (which I like), but a tiny case....What gives? I have a 7 1/2 wrist and can (and prefer) large cases...but this sounds like it will sadly be tiny on my wrist. Can someone answer these questions please?

Good value but the design puts me off, over-strapped and not keen on the day & date frames. It’s the same for me on the chronograph Couturier version.
