In my past 5 contracts I look back and 80% of what I packed I never wore. I ended up sticking to a few outfits that I wore on repeat (after washing them of course).

I am a newcomer and I luv listening to you tell information about life at sea. you have a calming way of telling the information that now I know I am interested in.. I been on two cruises in my lifetime and besides having a blast on my second cruise I noticed how hard working the staff is. the first cruise I checked in put money on my account and went straight to the bar and besides eating and showering I missed out on the rest I was such a lush on that cruise 😅. all I recall is that the atrium had the future of carnival In these glass cases and let's just say those ships are even older models now😄. I am 45 not old but wow I am looking to go on another cruise so I can tip better. I'll be checking in and listening more now that I subscribed. 🤗👍

"Don't even bring clothes. Just bring earplugs, that's the only thing that matters" Ships are so loud. I bring noise canceling headphones because otherwise I would barely be able to hear my music over the roar even in my cabin. I'm unlucky enough to be right next to the tanks and immediately on their other side is the engine room. Tons of vibration and noise. Also the A/C unit is 3 inches from my bunk and the panel broke off and was never replaced so I can reach my foot out and touch the fins of it.

It does pay better but I’d like to look into what kind of jobs that are available on a cruise ship that pay alittle more than the norm. Sounds like a cool experience

Hey Sean! Been loving your videos! I would like to ask about the laundry is it possible to wash your stuff by hand? Say if there wasn't a free machine? I have work seasonal contracts on islands in hotels and I'm thinking about the cruise ship . Thank you, love from Greece!🙂
@mseanprice6 жыл бұрын
Effie Vovla You could use the sink in your cabin bathroom to wash some stuff. I would only wash underwear or socks in there, though. It’s obviously a small sink. I washed a few pairs of underwear by hand once because I ran out and I knew I wouldnt have time to do laundry the next day. However, I don’t recommend that because there is absolutely nowhere to hang the clothes to dry. Your cabin is small and every inch is occupied by something. So trying to find places to dry laundry doesn’t seem likely. But if there is like a specific shirt you own that has to be hand washed, you can do a few things here and there and it should be fine. But I also would suggest to not even bring stuff like that. If it is super fancy and you would be upset if it got messed up, maybe leave it at home. Thank you for reaching out! Let me know when your in the states :)

Yo Sean, What about bringing technology to your workplace? Example, I'm a photo hobbyist.. Are there heavy restrictions to electronics? like cameras? big lenses? how about computers?
@mseanprice6 жыл бұрын
Cesarin Pillin There isn’t much restriction on bringing that stuff to the ship. You just run the risk of having stuff stolen or broken onboard. But that’s a risk you take anywhere. You won’t be taking a camera with you to you job though, like while you’re working. I mean, you’re working. Plus you wouldn’t have much time anyway to take pictures while working. But in your free time you are absolutely allowed to be touristy. Just don’t be that person who spends all their time nose down in your tech. There’s a lot of beautiful things to see on cruises. You don’t have to take a photo of everything. And the cool thing about working on ships is you’ll go back to the same places several times. So you get to experience the traveling many times over.

Hey Sean :) was just hired with Princess as a Junior Purser. Was curious if you ever worked with them or if you have any inside knowledge as a Purser. Thank you!!
@mseanprice6 жыл бұрын
Kaitlin Phillips Hey Kaitlin. I don’t know too much about being a purser. I’m sure f you like money it will be fun haha. But I will say that going that route on ships (accounting stuff) you will have a good chance of advancements and probably better living quarters. You may even have your own room. Maybe not your first contract but you will definitely be more likely than I ever did. I didn’t spend much time with accounting officers. There is sometimes a divide among jobs and departments which I think is stupid. Your schedule may be “business hours”. If you want to make many friends you will have to probably go more out of your way to meet other departments. In fact, I rarely feel like I saw people from the accounting departments in crew bar. It’s up to you how you make the experience. I say go to CB and be friends with everyone. Don’t be like all the people in your department and only hang out with work people. Trust me; you will notice that a lot. In all departments. Sometimes it seems people are afraid to just go and make new friends. I don’t know much about Princess. I have only heard good things. You will love it! Let me know how it is!

@mseanprice6 жыл бұрын
SlowBurn#GAMER Basically you take you clothes to one of the laundry rooms and hope there is an open machine. Some people stay the whole time their clothes are washing because they are afraid someone will steal their stuff. I never stayed and I never had an issue. About 30 minutes for wash and about an hour for dry. Duties are about 10 to 12 hours almost everyday. Sleep is when you can find the time. Let’s say about 7 hours a night on average

Going to work on Disney cruise line as youth activities counselor any advice?
@CoffeeWithSean7 жыл бұрын
Hey Leeah. Definitely bring lots of outfits and costumes. Check you itinerary so you know what "real" clothes to bring, like if you will need jackets and pants. The youth staff seemed to be the most fun department a lot of the time. It is a big group of super outgoing fun young people usually. Go into the job with an open mind and be ready to work lots. Early mornings and late nights are the usual. Youth staff was my second choice behind broadcasting. I worked at summer camps every summer between my years in college. The cool thing about the kids on ships is that they leave every night. But it can still be rough spending all time with kids, i'm sure you know what I mean. Look up some videos by Shipmate Meg. She was a youth counselor for Disney a few years back and her videos may be exactly what you can expect. That is super exciting! Have fun on the ship and make sure to make friends with the broadcasting team :) Let me know how it is when you're onboard
