Great idea and cool design, but no Thunderbolt? Most people are not going to give up a Thunderbolt 4/5 port to plug this in. You should at least have a pass through Thunderbolt port so people don't lose one. If you had put 1 Thunderbolt port on the front instead of that ancient USB 2.0 port that would have been amazing. You guys should re think this.

Pls forward your wish to the Thunderbolt licence owner (Intel) to make the certification of a device with TB interface easier, faster and less expensive, feasible also for non-multibillion companies to get it. Pls update us all what you have achieved.

@@nick066hu The advice is not practical. If new computer stands/hubs are developed and they no longer correspond to the state of the art, they will not be marketable.
@nick066hu
@nick066hu Ай бұрын
@@peterfranko1146 you don't get it, there are many standards in computer industry that are free to use for the manufacturer, for example DisplayPort is free to licence and use. HDMI on the contrary must be licenced for money and certified for money, this makes it more expensive for any manufacturer and makes a lot of money for a few on this Planet. USB is free, but owning anything with Thunderbolt you have paid a 'tax' to the licence owner. Using QR codes is free, because the patent owner Denso gives it away for free. Having seat belts in cars was free form the beginning because the Patent owner Volvo allowed to use it for free so all could benefit. Perhaps you could ask Intel to be on the right side of history. That is what I tried to communicate, got it now?
@peterfranko1146
@peterfranko1146 Ай бұрын
Yes, I know that. But when manufacturers develop new products that are intended to conquer the market, the latest connections for such fast computers must be offered in the technical/computer sector. Otherwise, the look remains, which is attractive and offers a solution for the power button. You have to pay the price for licensing and factor it into the price OR the product sells poorly. A commercial decision. Currently, the new stand for the Apple Mac mini 4 is ONLY interesting for early Mac mini 4 adapters. The stand is not backwards compatible.

Nice aesthetic idea. The world is moving at breakneck speed towards a USB-C port or a Thunderbolt port, whether Thunderbolt 3, 4 or 5. But Thunderbolt. The USB-A ports at the front are old-fashioned and no longer practical for such a fast computer. Even if the stand/hub cost 20 to 40 euros more, it would still be a good offer.

As others have said, TB5 is a must in order to get to the speeds close to the internal SSD with the NVMe chip. BUT, that space in between the dock and the Mini would be a neat place for an RGB light, so you get that cool glow coming from in between the two.

Agree with others, needs Thunderbolt. Also, the text on each port in the front ruins the aesthetic. I think everyone knows what ports are without having to label each one. minimum usb standard should be 3.0 and forget 2.x ever existed its too slow for anything but a keyboard/mouse and printer.... and these are Bluetooth/dongle and wifi now too. The upstream should be thunderbolt/usb4 (40gbps) and at least 1 thunderbolt/usb4 port on the hub. yes its first but it seems rushed and cheap specs.
@matthewtrow5698
@matthewtrow5698 Ай бұрын
Too big - way too big. The beauty of the mac mini m4 is the small form factor - with this, you are almost doubling the height. Also the ports - USB2.0? - why? - WHY USB 2.0???? Who even uses that - seriously cheaping out. Even the USB3.2 - why? - it's the old annoying shape you can only plug in one way. I'm trying to get rid of all my USB-A cables, converting wherever I can to the superior USB-C. Why did you have to put writing below each port? That ruins the look of this hub. Makes it look cheap. Why aren't you showing how the hub connects in this video? I know why, because it will look so ugly - very misleading. I see this as a pointless Hub for modern users. Many people will be using a thunderbolt port to hook up to a monitor and the monitor is where they will attach peripherals in a much neater way. Or they can just use the 5 available USB ports, which is quite a lot. I'd love to see a device that sits on TOP of the mac mini M4, about 10mm high, that just has space for an NVMe drive with two discrete thunderbolt ports on the back. One to connect to the mac, via a discreetly designed exact fit connector and the other so you still get all your 5 ports. It will probably require cooling, so perhaps a fan that vents out the back of the hub. Two versions, a TB 4.0 and a TB 5.0. How would it fit on top securely? A black plastic rim that matches the quality and feel of the lower plastic part on the mac mini, just deep enough to hold the hub securely on top. The problem with putting any hub on the bottom of the new mac mini is that it's going to increase the height substantially, which defeats the object have having such a small form factor. I don't expect Qwiizlab to come up with such an advanced hub, as it requires serious R&D and investment, however, it's possible Sabrent may come up with something. This product I think is cheap rubbish. The only expense is the aluminum - all the ports are just dirt cheap junk.
