Thank you very much for this video. Weve had dekopon grafted on a mature tree for three years. The 2022-2023 season was a disaster. i had about 50 jumbo sized fruits and half of them rotted due to the constant rain. Is it worth it in the long run for farmers to continue to invest in dekopon if 1. it is a very delicate fruit 2. we dont know how long a tree will live. For citrus 15 years is a very short life span. it makes me wonder if growing dekopon is actually worth all the trouble. I know many people swear by them but i havent had one that has really impressed me.

Bummer, we have 4 trees on 2 different rootstocks to see how they do. I was really impressed with the fruit we have at the farm and preferred it right off of the trees. I believe they require much additional care and strategies to grow them well. You are right, the cold and wet weather are a horrible combination for these fruits. I hope you get some great fruit next season.

Have you ever tried fingerlimes? Or jackfruit? I'm curious on the brix scores and growing habits of different varieties.

Shiranui Dekopon are sold on Carrizo rootstock in Southern California for salty soils/water and they sell it on trifoliate rootstock in Central California for cold hardiness.
