Aaah, the gibson tuck, my go-to when I'm to lazy to curl my hair or the humidity decides to ruin it as soon as I walk out of my building! Actually, my entire vintage style journey started with a gibson tuck now when I think about it as I wore it to my cousin's birthday after which I decided to try out wearing vintage style more often. After a week "more often" tuned into each day and now, almost three months later I'm not regretting it at all!

I recall seeing many older ladies wearing this style when I was a child. It was very popular, as was the Victory Roll. I had that done by one of the older women for a ball I had to attend and it looked great decorated with Aussie wildflowers from the bush. They used long stris of torn up sheets to create it and wrapped my long fringeless hair around the cloth pieces then pinned it all securely.

Really enjoyed this! Thanks! I showed this to my mother and she said you have a classic Audrey Hepburn look. She also said you're makeup is perfect. It's noticeable without being too bright. :) you definitely inspire me to be more open with my love of vintage things! Now I must go and listen to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra :)

Jamaican black caster oil and hyaluronic acid on the scalp help a lot with hair growth. I lost a ton of hair due to chemical damage to my scalp and it worked for me, hair loss is tough to deal with.

Same here friend! Lost a good amount of mine due to Lyme disease and heavy medication for 3 years straight. Finally filling back in! Before I got sick, my hair was down to my waist and was thick and dark brown. I had to cut my hair short because I was bedridden for a year, and it is now thickening again, but it's still short! Goal now is to grow out my long hair again🥰

Oh my goodness you are adorable and you truly look like you stepped right out of a 1940s movie! I was watching a few other tutorials before this ….I’m not even really much of a hair tutorial watcher but this new silk noodle overnight curler thing which I’m trying (instead of regular overnight, foam wetset curlers) reminded me of a this hairdo, which upon googling, I find is called the Gibson Roll! I’m happy to find your three different options tho my hair is a bit thinner and finer so we’ll see if it looks as fabulous as yours but I’ll certainly subscribe to you because it’s always enjoyable to watch someone show me how to do a vintage hairstyle when they truly looked the vintage part. Well done, my dear.😍👌

@katherinemorelle71154 жыл бұрын
I need to get some of those hair nets. I usually do manage to get it fairly neat, but I have naturally curly and frizzy hair, so a hair net would help it look more together and prevent flyaways, I think. I used to prefer the hair rat version, because I do like quite a bit of volume in my tucks, but then I forgot to trim my hair for three years, and I just do it without the hair rat now, there’s plenty of hair there. The super long hair isn’t accurate to the 40s or 50s, but I’m also starting to be inspired by late Victorian and Edwardian styles, so I’ve decided to grow it as long as it will grow. I’m aiming to be able to sit on it, but that’s a few years away yet!

Lovely hairstyles. I love Gibson tucks, I'm just not a fan of having to put a hundred bobby pins in my hair in the morning, so I don't do it that often. Could you maybe do a tutorial on vintage hairstyles that don't require many bobby pins or other hair accessories? Like quick and easy styles with maybe just one or two hair elastics or hair bands or something like that?

Some hints for those of us with straight hair that hates to roll: 1. Curl your hair first so that it will roll in the direction you want it to and so the ends will behave better. 2. Use a "topsy-Tail" type hair tool if you have trouble getting your hair to flip around the hair elastic. 3. Use a volume spray or dry shampoo. Women of this era did not wash their hair every day so, their hair was much less slippery. 4. Once you've achieved the roll, secure it horizontally from one side of the roll to the other with a large barrette so that it doesn't roll back out.
