Thank you for this book review. I have the book and you've inspired me to get it out again. I highly recommend it and as I improve as an artist I am inspired by different aspects of what she puts in the book. I love that she includes small sketches as well as large finished paintings and is honest about her process. Love her use of colour and blend of abstract ad realism. An inspiring painter!!

Yes. I've watched one of Shirley's DVDs. She takes a lot of time arranging objetcs before she's happy. I love her colour choices too. She has a unique and distinctive style.

I have this book! I have mislaid it unfortunately. She was recommended to me by an art tutor. She is very advanced. I did the painting jugs exercise in the book. I think she has influenced a lot of painters. 😊🎨

Thank you. What I admire about Shirley is she is not at all pretentious. She really does break all the "rules" when it comes to watercolour. I like the concept of your channel and learned about if from Diane Antone. You recommend buying this book, unfortunately it is out of print and not even available on Shirley's website. There are used copies available and they are quite expensive. The book you feature here was published in 2004. Shirley has more recent books (three) that are still in publication. So many artists recommend their favorite books without checking to see if they are still in print and available to international viewers on websites like Amazon. I would like to suggest that if you have a channel where you review art books that you only feature books that are still in publication--especially when you recommend to the viewer that they purchase the book you are featuring in the video. Thank you for dedicating a channel to art books!

@@ArtBookNookthank you. I’m in the states and Amazon had a used copy from an Amazon affiliate used book dealer here in the US. It is more than I want to spend as her new books are less than the used edition of the 2004 book you reviewed. But thank you for your help. I live near several used bookstores-one of which is a large and well known bookstore. The do not have a used copy of the book, but don’t make it a practice to sell used books for more than it originally cost-which is something I find the Amazon used booksellers do. Thank you for your channel. I appreciate your work.
