For the past eight years, Alice in Chains vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell and bassist Mike Inez have hosted the "Alice In Chains & Friends Fantasy Football League & Auction", donating a spectacular collection of signed musical instruments, memorabilia and experiences for an online auction to benefit organizations like Music For Relief and MusiCares. In recent years, they've donated proceeds from the auction to provide protective gear and training for workers assisting with the Ebola Prevention Initiative and contributed funds to MusiCares's health and human services programs.
Each year's charity initiatives are determined by the League's reigning champion. This year's champion is Jerry Cantrell and he's announced that proceeds from this year's auction will be split between a donation to MusiCares in Chris Cornell's name and a donation to Music For Relief in Chester Bennington's name. The auction will run from August 14 through August 24.
League participants include Cantrell, Inez, GUNS N' ROSES' Duff McKagan, TV sports host Rich Eisen, actor Michael Rapaport, PANTERA's Vinnie Paul Abbott, ANTHRAX's Scott Ian, NFL.com's fantasy football columnist Michael Fabiano, former NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew and GASLIGHT ANTHEM's Benny Horowitz. The 2017 season draft will broadcast live on September 5 on SiriusXM's "Fantasy Sports Radio", hosted by John Hansen and Bob Harris.
Among the items up for auction is a guitar lesson with Jerry Cantrell, a bass guitar signed by the members of GUNS N' ROSES, a guitar signed by DEFTONES, a pinstripe Viking guitar signed by Zakk Wylde, a football signed by members of the NFL Hall Of Fame, a football signed by 2017 Hall of Fame inductee Kurt Warner and more.

Okay seriously people stop body shaming its not cool. So what if Jerry gained weight or got older. That is not what this video is about. This is about Chris and Chester and suicide and its very sad. People should focus on their music and level of talent instead. Jerry and Mike are pretty cool guys for doing this.

Tad almost killed himself but grunge “fans” never cared, Mark arm almost died of a heroin addiction in the 90’s but nobody cared, Mark lanegan almost died multiple times but by some miracle is still around. Erick we don’t know exactly what their relationship was in the last years. Jerry is too respectful and has never divulged details about Laynes last years. He was struggling himself with addiction. Regardless when the last time they spoke before Laynes death, it doesn’t diminish the friendship and love they had for years. Even in the Unplugged concert you can see Jerry was patient and very supportive of his friend. Everyone wanst info on Layne, but the AIC guys aren’t going to give more than what’s out there already and to me, that’s a true sign of how much they loved Layne.

It’s usually the brightest stars that burn out the quickest. To this day I still haven’t heard Man in the Box sound “right” since Layne passed. There was a power and timbre at the chorus that no one comes really close to. A testament to the talent and ability he had. Definitely a voice that will be remembered…

Not only can you get through substance abuse to sobriety, but you can thrive and love life again!! I have, and I was bad. The most important ingredient to helping someone: Love. And support. Let them know it's going to be OK. You'll have so much to look forward to. It's just darkest before the dawn.

Jerry has been through a lot in his life and he has been able to always pull himself out out with music. It undoubtedly saved his life and many who have listened. The people he lost needed so much help and I hope that serves to tell people that there’s always another option and to get help, because their loss becomes our loss as well.

bellarose6501 I almost crashed my car when I heard it on the radio the day after it happened. I found the pic I used in Pinterest. I wanted something that captured him singing and some of that insanely beautiful hair he had. It really turned out amazing. After it is all healed, I plan to go and put flowers on his marker at the cemetery in Hollywood.

AND your conditions are what mine are..get help seek help..the support is available And just pray for the many that continue to struggle the day2day battles of life..it makes gloomy days alittle brighter when you hear your not alone.. thanks

Great advice... go to bed.. take a nap.. when it really gets to much just set it all aside quickly and dont stwe on it. Youll feel different after yr brain has a break from it all. Theres many amazing things waiting, things that you will say to yourself.. thank God i didnt... bc id be missing this if id ended it all. NOTHING STAYS THE SAME! This will pass... and something else will come along to deal with. Life is has its major ups and major downs, dont ever loss hope, theres that woman.. that man.. that child.. that pet.. that job.. ect ect ect thats right around the corner thats gonna make yr life night n day to what it is now! Help others! You know PAIN, HEART ACHE, GREAT LOSS.. everyone mostly does so make that connection when you see it in others and tell them yr loss n they will surly tell you theres b4 you can even get to the 1st half of yours! Let them talkn you listen... youll feel good about listening, and talking. Youll make an honest real connection with someone and find a great friend in them. Doing this youll see EVERYONE is feeling the same as you when it comes to experiencing real loss, heart ache n pain. From the huge big mean guy at work.. to the seems to have a perfect happy life to the quiet keeps to themselves shy gal at work. You just start the conversation n trust me, they will take it from there! Weve all got a story wating to tell about how bad we got it n what weve been through. At teh end, youll feel some type of relief, it will give you strength to go another day.. people need you more than you realize! YOU can save someones life, their feeling just like you or maybe even worse.. who knows but you have the power to help others even thou yr a mess like the rest of us. If you go, whos gonna save them? We all need someone in our lives we can just talk about things and feel no embarrassment or shame and if you do this.. with many people youll find talking does help, just by tellingyr deal n listening to others messed up world. Youll find strength in it n they will to! Get that stuff out.. help others do the same. Its a start.. its a change.. dont give up! Theres great things just around the corner i promise you that personally. 👍♥️
