Ah, thanks for this revelation. There are a few points that you missed or missinterpreted though. The Grail in Fate/Apocrypha is not tainted with the Curses of Angra Mainyu, because it was Shriou that was summoned. If a wish is made upon it, it won't start speweing forth destruction like in Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night. However, it still can "only" amlify a Method as was shown in Fate Zero. The diffrence though is that Angra Mainyu showed Kiritsugu only the absolute worst that would come from his wish, not the good things. I am not sure if the Baptism Rite is all that was shown so far. Yes, Shirou can use it to attack Spiritual Bodies such as Servants, but it might actually be the Sacraments of the Church as a Skill.

To add to this Shirou isn't limited to just his seals as a ruler and individual master since he took the command seals from the other Masters of the Red Faction, ultimately acting as the singular master of seven servants by himself. That in itself may or may not have limited his own abilities just because of how freakishly strong his servants were.

Kirei's wish was granted not Kiritsugu's. In the VN the Grail essentially brings itself to Kirei in his mind and beckoned for him to make a wish right after Kiritsugu shoots him. Angra Mainyu reaches out to Kirei in anger of being rejected by Kiritsugu and because of Kirei's similar disdain. Angra Mainyu also speaks to Gilgamesh when he is absorbed by the Scalding Mud. Angra tried to corrupt and posses Gil to come forth into the world, but Gilgamesh's ego staves off Angra, and he's spit from the mud.

Can you explain me the difference between the two Grails? I have noticed that the Apocrypha one seems to be more pure, and I know that the one from the main story line is kind of corrupted, but I believed that only in Stay Knight that the Grails was corrupted. Basically Since in the 3rd Holy grail war in the Apocrypha time line Avenger (the Poor Bastard who bared the name Angra Mainyu) was never summoned and instead Amakusa shiro was summoned. In the Main Fate/ Stay Night , time line when Avenger was summoned he was useless as he was just some poor bastard who was Tortured and made to figuratively bear "All the Worlds Evils" , he died early on and was inside the grail. the wish that was granted was not his, but that of People who sacrificed him "To Become All of the Worlds Evils".... thats why more or less in Fate/Stay Nights time line the Grail was corrupted

As an antagonist, Amakusa-san deserved a better protagonist foil than "Sumanai" in homunculus form. Sieg is wishy-washy, boring, and simply not compelling because he is (predominantly) a passive actor; rather than trying or doing anything that moves the plot forward, he just kind of is there. This is in stark contrast Amakusa Shirou, who is, when on screen either moving the plot forward, either by his machinations or by exposing something the audience had thusfar not been privy to.

Not quite, because the Grail is still not omniscient. It can still only work in a way that the user knows of, that's why wishes like saving humanity will always be impossible even if the Grail is not corrupted.

ShadowBanks3 Not an ass at all! At first I had the same doubt. Here's the thing. The Holy Grail is a tool that works by using the magical energy of defeated Servants. Servants are such overpowered existence with huge amounts of Mystery that of course, it seems possible for the Grail to grant any wish by virtue of the sheer energy available. However, a tool is a tool in the end. It can only work along with the knowledge of the user. It's like having a gun that can shoot through anything, but if you don't know where to aim or how to handle it, it is effectively useless for certain things.

iZed Mark The Lesser Grail is in both wars, Irisviel being it in Zero and Ilya and Sakura being Lesser Grails in Stay Night. It's not a different tool, but simply a physical link to the Greater Grail which is Justeaze. The function is the same, and a tool made by man can still not grant vague, extremely vast wishes like that.

One problem: Kiritsugu's wished ended up as a blood bath because by that time the Grail had already been tainted by the aforementioned Avenger. No matter what wish was made on Grail-kun at that point it would have been a tragedy.

Why would the Greater Grail interpret Shirou’s wish in a similar manner to how it did Kiritsugu’s? The only reason that happened was because, in the original timeline, Angra Mainyu’s presence in the Grail corrupted it. But, as stated in the video, Amakusa Shirou summoned by the Einzbern family for the Third Holy Grail War under the Ruler class; the Grail should not be corrupted in the Apocrypha timeline.

Pretty good video! Just to note, Fate/Zero's HGW ended like that because the grail was corrupted by Angra Mainyu. The Grail in Apocrypha isn't corrupted (since Angra wasn't summoned), so it will work as intended. There is actually a case where 2 wishes were granted successfully without any negative outcomes (kind of).

AniNews okay was watching your vid and say you brought up the end of the forth war and while I see you know the grail only did that cause of avenger it wouldn't be able to wipe out humanity unless that's the only shirou saw to save humanity. although the grail does have some sentience it only acts on the will and method of the wish maker. see what they don't talk about in the zero anime is that while avenger did corrupt the grail kiritsugu would be unable to achieve what he wanted if the corruption never happened. cause the grail is a tool it has no idea how to implement wishes without a known method. which is why kiritsugu wish would have kill everybody he only knew the method of killing the few to save the many. anyway the reason shirou wish would not do this is because he wants to use the grail to annihilate all the world's evils from the heart of people so pretty much brainwash everyone to be a saint.

Actually the fourth holy grail war didn't end that way because of a wish, it ended that way because Kiritsugu ordered Saber to destroy it, which sent the corrupted magical energy that had been built up spilling out into the city. It would have probably been worse if Kiritsugu had actually managed to make a wish.

If he thinks forcing immortality to remove desire for survival would save mankind then he really needs to see how the adventurers acted in Log Horizon before the formation of the Round table by Shiroe. Only in this case, since the reason why its always fucked up is because the Einzbern summoned Avenger in the third war in the OG timeline, in this one, is Ruler, so the grail is safe. Of course, having Amakusa to wish for humans to become happy and perfect is going to probably cause some Evangelion level shit on its own, not because the grail but because Amakusa only sees humanity salvation through putting them on a dream or remaking humanity to dissolve their violent instincts, remove their wishes and identity.

Even with the finale of Apocrypha, it is quite obvious that the results of Fate/Zero could not happen. The reason Fate/Zero ended the way it did was because the Einsberns summoned the avenger servant Angra Mainyu who ultimately lost the war and corrupted the greater grail. This causes any wish granted by the grail to have a nasty twist.

I think if he wishes for salvation it will not end like fate/zero, because the reason for the corruption of the grail in the stay night timeline is the summoning of avenger angra mainyu. since he has never been summoned the grail is not corrupted and should function like it is supposed to.

you're missing one point thou, grail in fate/zero is already corrupted by the avenger, or rather the grail that did its job and fulfilled everyone's wish and literally became the source of all evil, corrupting every single wish. Which is not the case in this timeline, grail is still uncorrupted and will properly grant any wish.

I quite like this whole layout of Amasuka Shiro but there was one thing i was confused about. In the fate zero/stay night time lines the grail was corrupted during the third grail war when avenger "the embodiment of all the world's sins" was killed and his essence was absorbed by the grail. This was what turned the grail into the item of destruction we see in those timelines. Since Shiro was summoned instead of avenger in this timeline wouldn't the grail not be corrupted in this timeline?

The only mistake I can spot immediately in this video is when mentioning that the grail would do the same as in Fate/Zero had Shiro made his wish. This cannot be right, since the grail is not corrupt in this universe. Avenger was the one who corrupted it after all, and Shiro was summoned in his stead in this universe.

I'm pretty sure that he got that detail wrong, but it actually isn't a mistake. The wish would do the same thing, exterminate humanity, just in different ways. In F/SN, had Shirou made his wish, the Grail would murder every human with the mud, as there won't be any suffering with humanity if there isn't humanity. In F/A, if Shirou made his wish, he'd get it. Heaven's Feel would activate, and humanity would ascend. Then it goes the shit. As Fate/Extella reveals, if humans died or ascend to fast, they would reach an evolutionary dead end. They would then be "cut" from the multiverse, and culled. Depending on how one interprets "culling the reality", Shirou either destroys the entire planet and all life on it (humans included), or he's commits omnicide on the Universe.

travis oliver Wrong. Amakusa’s plan would not do that. first off, that was a retcon introduced several years after apocrypha was finished. Second, nothing is mentioned about amakusa’s immortality plan having any relation to that process. Third, it’s a thing that only happens in the extra timeline anyways. The pruning thing is a Moon Cell thing, and the moon cell is only a thing in Extra. He did nothing wrong and should have won.

Soarel I just finished watching it some time ago and actually it is said that shiros wish to save humanity would only be possible for the grail on reasonable terms which means if someone wishes for money it will only be possible for the grail to grant it on reasonable means like wining the lottery or inheritance but since the wish is only meant to be possible if the person wishing for it already knows a way to fulfill the wish this is explained in the series so shiros way to fulfill his wish is to give the humankind the third magic basically means giving the humans immortality but by doing this it also complicates their future since no one will ever die that’s why (spoilers ahead) at the end of the series siege becomes a dragon and steals the gift of immortality from humankind so that no human can ever obtain it .

Interesting still I have some questions about the content. You said the result of Shirou using the Grail for his wish would likely produce the same result as in Fate Zero. I think we both know it's wrong since the mud exists because of "All the Evils in the world" that didn't corrupt the grail back in Apo's 3rd World War. Then comes the "Shirou had it all prepared". While it seems that way, the reserve system of the Grail was activated by a totally neutral 3rd party aka a magus of the 50 men expedition from the ClockTower. This soldier isn't said to have any link to Shirou whatsoever. Shirou isn't said to have intervened and allowed the summoning of 14 servants. Plus how would he know Ruler would be Jeanne d'Arc. I mean he knew a 2nd ruler would be summoned but did you imply he knew that the ruler would be Jeanne? Or did I misunderstand? Well then there's Higashide's poor understanding of the Fuyuki Holy Grail War system and the fact that neither Semiramis nor Jack the Ripper should've been summoned but that's not your fault. It's still interesting videos and giving lore is always welcome.

Tim Tsai actually you are wrong he didn’t see the thing is when he got inside the grail he realized he was going to become the dragon fafnir due to Siegfried hearth so since he was gonna become a dragon he decided to fulfill his wish by stealing shiros wish from humanity also it is said that he was able to beat shiro because he was fighting with one arm and sieg had a blessing of the berserker Frankenstein and the heart of Siegfried that made him able to beat shiro also the big explosion that berserker used and the fact that since he’s an homunculi he’s like a tank of magic reserves

I’m still confused on one front. Since Shirou was not the last surviving master, he shouldn’t have been able to wish on the Grail, right? I can only think of one possibility, and it’s by using his Noble Phantasms (his arms) to break into the Grail before a Master is heeded as victor and therefore was granted a premature wish. The number of servants dropped below seven while Shirou was inside the Grail, so could it also be that he waited for enough Servants to fill the Grail before he could wish upon it? So by the time Sieg had been absorbed into the Grail as the victor of the GHGW, there was a total of twelve Servants and two Rulers dead. Another seven. Allowing for a second wish - Sieg’s wish - to be granted. That’s just my thoughts ;D I liked Apocrypha as a Fate fan, but it was honestly not a good anime, especially for those without the lore behind it all. Plus, yunno, I feel for Shirou, you can’t win against S-Rank Luck and plot armor combined...

The reason because Fate/Zeros grail didnt fullfill his wish was because back than instead a Ruler the Einzberns summonend a Avenger but he got killed due reasons and thus corrupted the grail as he got absorbed into it. Thats why the grail in the Fate Stay timeline with Emyia is a corrupted grail and different from the on in Apo where no Avenger was summonend and thus the greater grail was never corrupted. Tho Shiro wants the ancient root magic rather than the wish fullfilling device/power of the greater grail. (PS if i remember correctly the grail in Zero wasnt a greater grail it was a lesser grail thus it fullfilled the wish according to its own capabilitys of power it had thats why it went out of controle back than with the wish)

No, it went out of control because Angra Mainyu(Avenger/All of the World's Evils) fused with it in the 3rd grail war, corrupted the grail, and became it ego.

So, Angra Mainyu is a concept from the old zoroastrian religion, where people believe that humans are inherently good AND evil. but, if they blame one person (child, from birth) for all the worlds evils, then the rest of the humans can be inherently good and pure. Thus, any bad wishes are from the child itself. So, by bearing the sins of humanity and providing for their happiness/salvation, he qualifies to exist in the throne of heroes. But since he didn't actually DO anything, he has no power, other than his existence as the embodiment of "6 billion curses of humanity". Thus, when he merged with the grail, a wish granting device, the 6 billion evil wishes meant things got pretty messed up.

CEEJ actually at the beginning of the series they said that jeanne needed to posses a body but this is not explained until they see that there is also another ruler (shiro) alive which means that shiro has a body of his own but Jeanne is possessing a girl since the grail granted her but shiro was brought to life thanks to the greater grail
