The service from the 1-star had all the telltale signs of a place that had gotten bad reviews and therefore were trying their hardest to be better. That’s probably why it was slower (ensuring the food is fresh cooked to perfection to avoid mouth cutting or food poisoning) and why they got Matthew to confirm the order was correct. I enjoyed this video! I’d love to see maybe a review/comparison of like a retail store to see how customer service is

Well, I'm thinking about that slogan from way back, when they used to say, Number two tries harder. So the JITB that was 5-star, you received the bun un-toasted; your food arrived so fast, indicating that it was likely already cooked prior to your ordering and sitting there stagnant for awhile; your Sammy was soggy; the fries had no crunch but your churros had a very nice cinnamon-sugar crunch; and the attendant treated you kindly. At the 1-Star JITB, you received what I think was above-average service for a fast-food drive-thru; the food was served hot; the ingredients were fresher; the fries and churros were crunchy; and the attendant was kind, polite, and thanked you for visiting their particular establishment. They tried harder .. they deserve to be upvoted to a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Churros are fried and have cinnamon sprinkled on top before giving to the customers. The churros, onion rings, tacos, chicken nuggets, chicken strips, and all fried items besides fries/hashbrowns/chicken patties should be fresh every order because they’re less likely to be ordered. And there’s no place to store fried items except fries/hashbrowns/chicken patties. Fries/hashbrowns/chicken patties are always a gamble because they could be fresh, old, or old and then refried. One more random thing is that the iced coffee is made by mixing milkshake vanilla cream with the black coffee. 😂 -Former Jack in the Box worker

Having worked in fast food for years, the immediate upsell at the 5-star is 100% a corporate decision and the company Very Strongly Encourages employees to do that. I saw another comment mention that the 5-star is likely corporate owned and the 1-star is likely franchised, so the upselling and the high reviews make sense.

A fast food drive thru 1 star vs 5 star rating is fully dependent at the time of day and how busy they are. A location you go to at 1215pm would be a completely different experience if you went at 4pm.

Mr Maple definitely deserves a raise for his patience and time! As for JITB or any other fast food place, it really comes down to management. If the management is good, employees are happier and they try harder. When food is so very bad &/or inconsistent, you know they're slapping together various items and throwing them under the heat lamps just so they can take a break and trash talk the manager or owner or other coworkers. Visit a couple locations (if able) at different times of day (different shifts, different managers) and then decide which location you like more. You may find you like one more in the morning or at lunch, but another location is better in the evening or late at night. Hope Paul's stomach wasn't dodgy the rest of the day! I don't know if you have fast food frequently or not, but if it's been a long time since I've had it, my stomach is NOT pleased - regardless of how much I loved it.

My theory, complete conjecture - they both can be good or bad depending on when you happen to turn up, whether the food is fresher or older, but the higher rated place is in a location which has more drunk visitors so those customers enjoy the food more 😅

I agree it has to be the location. If the five star one is near a mall for instance, maybe it's a satisfying order after a shopping day, or after a date. So you're in a good mood But maybe the one-star place is a bit out of the way, so you're gonna be irritated as soon as there's something you slightly dislike

The first Jack in the Box looks delicious and fantastically put together. In the UK we have Wimpy, KFC, Burger King, Five Guys and McDonald’s. And Jack in the Box sadly has no plans to operate in the UK hopefully in the future we might.

OMG! I can see what used to be the old "grain elevator" out the side of the window. I worked as a manager in fast food for a long time. It's never the location, it's the crew. You might get impeccable service for breakfast, but if you go back to the same place for dinner, it's trash. Typically all your adult crew work during the day and your evening shifts are made up of high school and college kids. Managers who are barely 18+ not sure of themselves or their crew isn't willing to respect them for whatever reason. This of course isn't always the case, but I don't ever go to any of my old stores in the evening.

I don't think so. Maple was already named when Paul got him. Some people like to put a Mr or Miss prefix on their dog/cat's name. I love these guys and Mr. Maple so much! I was definitely looking for this comment. Even just applying the brakes suddenly to avoid a minor fender bender could result in Maple falling into the back of the seats or onto the floor. In the event of a more serious accident, and if a door were to become compromised or opened, Maple could accidentally exit the vehicle while disoriented, and that could also be harmful. I know how much they adore Mr. Maple, so I'm certain they will consider your advice. ❤
