Hi, Thanks for playing Project Nightmares. We are trying to revive the old terror, influenced by some classic horror movies like The shining, Evil Dead, Demons, The exorcist and some directors like Stanley Kubrick, or authors like Lovecraft. The story line is really different to everything you played before, but we can not show this on early access, spoilers sucks.. The core of the game is procedural, and everything inside the game has a behaviour.. The house has some kind of poltergeist stuff. We don't wanna copy other gamers, we don't wanna abuse of jump screams, we wanna you feel inside that house and try to discover why are you there. Case 36 is one of the cases of Project Nightmares. We are just two guys from Argentina working on this, so we coudn't make a kickstarter account. Kickstarter doesn't admit an account from Argentina. That's why we decided to upload the game on Steam Early Access in this state. We are trying to get translations because we wanna every gamer could play the game in his language. In another thread we are working on the full game, but everyone who buy the game in early access, is buying the final game. When the game be completed, you receive an update from Steam and that's it. If you need more information, just ask!

Game looks great! My only suggestion is that you might want to get a writer first, before the translators, and have the writer punch up the English. It's pretty awkward in its current state, and it makes the game appear cheap, despite the nice graphics.

I agree with Vokoca. This is one of the better games they’ve played on this shitstorm, and it’s really impressive for a two man team, but the English needs just a little touching up to sound a little less awkward. Also find it super cool that you guys commented here.

Chiming in on the agreement of a writer and really good job not doing the pop up scares. There used to be a point where ‘jump scares’ were done well and had an execution that wasn’t just the equivalent of scream prank, which you seemed to have properly captured. Graphics are gorgeous and aesthetically appropriate with some AMAZING lighting. Would love to see a micro horror game like this come to as many platforms as possible. A few more gameplay mechanics couldn’t hurt to be added, maybe a sanity meter to play off the environmental events like the blood on the couch and such? Looking forward to the final product!!

This is phenomenal, job well done! I liked the candle mechanic (was so immersive!) and the evil spirits angle is great, loved the salt idea! A suggestion could be letting your character have run set to a button? How it's implemented here is creative, but giving your player the freedom to run when they want can be beneficial to you (the player could alert a spirit by being too loud). That's my opinion. Still great game! I'm excited to see how the game continues to develop!

Graphically it looks good, but it has my least favorite kind of scares in it: the loud in-your-face-jump-scares. The candle tilting is a nice touch.

I'm not sure if it was meant to do this, but the slow walking really creeped me out until I figured out that there was a safety zone. If they keep ambiguity of danger in the future I think the jump scares will be worthy of themselves.

Not only that but the level design is pretty boring and kinda ruins immersion by not being realistic/reasonable. Also the menus are kind of bland looking. In-game graphically it's definitely got something.

I'm starting to realize that Amnesia: the Dark Descent holds up because jumpscares are either subtle or made by the player's reaction to their situations... Moments in games where monsters grab you, take away your controls and scream in your face just feels like a tax rather then an experience; it's like the horror scene slept through Frictional Games' Advent and just woke up for Slender. Yet games where your control is limited, ala Five Nights at Freddy's, the jumpscares are punishment for screwing up; it's essentially a puzzle game. Jumpscares aren't scary because they don't feel natural, and fear is a very natural feeling

The ghost/creature/thing at the end of this is a bit too fast (almost blink-and-you-miss-it kind of movement) but it still made me jump. Something that freaks me right the fuck out and will never stop me freaking the fuck out is when a ghost advances towards you at insanely high speed. I can think of two exaples off the top of my head: Laura in The Evil Within 2 and the mama ghost from the movie Mama. The way they close the distance is "just right" to essentially add a freaking X2 multiplier on the scare factor for me. It's fast enough to count as a good ol' jump scare but also slow enough to make you go "OH SHE COMIN'!"
