So the T-Virus was inadvertently released today...not particularly the best way to start off a Monday. While most people around here and panicking, and some even eating the flesh of others I remain pretty calm all things considered. There's a very small chance it'll spread much further than the Arkalay mountains, so I figured when I clock out today I'll just head down to a local bar in Raccoon and drown my sorrows.

So I was walking through the streets of Raccoon and alot of people seemed to be stressed. Has the virus actually spread? I saw alot of people ripping through entrails and stammering around with bloody mouths. It seems like something is amiss! But fuck all that really...today was a really stressful day, so I need that drink...especially since my chest feels so itchy for some reason, probably has to do with the underlying tension of work...

5 years later, someone disagrees. Kevin is OP with his pop shot ability, if done right you can rapid fire it and delete bosses. Jim is slightly OP because of his dodge (where he throws himself on the ground) and his coin if you get heads three times he will do 45% more damage per hit.

This game and the sequel were a guilty pleasure of mine. I really love that virus mechanic where where the virus spreads faster if you get hurt and you have to find medicine to slow it down. The only thing I hated about the game is you have to quit in order to save your progress and have to restart the level if you die.

Outbreak 2 is still my favorite resident evil game (while the servers were alive). I understand it's not as good of a game as like RE4. But back in the day i used to bring my little 19 inch TV downstairs to the basement and my friend would bring over his ps2. We would set up side by side and play for hours on the harder setting. Sadly the game was designed for co-op. So even on the lower difficulties single player is quite hard, as you can see with pat in the video. One of the biggest selling points was there was a lot of unlockable content. In the second game you could unlock boss rush modes, random room modes where every doors took you to random rooms from other levels and you had to kill all the enemies on a time attack. You could also unlock something like 40 other characters which were more or less remixes of the base ones giving you their unique traits but different starting items. Also i believe there was 5 difficulty settings each one remixed where items/monsters were placed and how to solve the puzzles. I would give my first born for either a remake with both included or just a number 3.

The game isn't that hard solo but it is a matter of knowing what to do. The levels aren't that long so if you fuck up you can generally get back to where you were fast enough. One cool thing about the games is you could transfer unlocked characters between the games so you could use Outbreak file 2 characters in the first game.

@@ZER0O9 Oh they do remember it, RE7, RE2R and RE3R have easter eggs and references to Outbreak, RE3R having the most, and Capcom knows that the fanbase want an Outbreak remake, you can see how the producer of Resistance had to apologize cuz of Resistance not being Outbreak remake, or how when you go to the survey of RE3R and you put that you didnt expect Resistance at all, one of the reasons that you can click on it is "Because i have never played RE:Outbreak", so yeah, they do know the fanbase wants it, its just a matter of time until they make it (most likely after 2022)

Say what you want about this game, but the opening cutscene alone is worth the price of admission. There's also a ton of cut characters that you can find using a Gameshark and it seems like it would've had you playing as HUNK's team, or perhaps just another Umbrella Special Forces team God, this game had so much potential. Why couldn't we have had a remake of this with the cast of ORC instead of the shitshow that ORC was?

I hated Veronica out of the three, n' I generally liked Outbreak File 2 more... playing Outbreak File 1 made me appreciate how better File 2 is as a game in comparison. It was the second RE Outbreak where you could specifically move/aim/shoot. The gun/combat system in the second RE:outbreak is really good. Also the tradeoff for characters with more health, their virus gauge goes up faster.

I actually enjoyed the Outbreak games a fair bit, but they definitely do have their fair share of problems. Hell, here in the UK the first one wasn't even online as the adapter wasn't available here at that point! Also, the amount of custom skins you can unlock is pretty insane. Basically every NPC you meet is playable, plus a load of others. I think Outbreak 2 probably has the better levels overall, especially the police station level, which starts everybody in random points, and has Marvin from RE 2 as an NPC. File 2 also has all of the skins and outfits from the first game, plus a bunch of others. They really aren't all that popular, but I would love an HD re-release compilation for Outbreak. Maybe even combine them into one game. As Pat said a lot of tech holds them back, so adding voice chat for online and the vastly improved load times would really change the game for the better.

This game is actually pretty fun and deserves a remake. If you haven't, go ahead and give it a try. It emulates pretty well actually. The first level is one of the best out of the bunch and unfortunately, imo, the second level is pretty bad but it does get A LOT better afterwards though. If you enjoyed this then there is an "Outbreak File 2" it's a standalone game but is a direct sequel to this

Man, this game consumed me when it came out. I'm glad I got to experience it in its hayday, because it was probably one of the more unique online gaming experiences that will possibly never be created again because there just isn't (and really wasn't) a big market for it. And for the record, I actually liked that there was no online chat. Sure, it resulted in some frustrating moments, but it added to the isolation when you were separated from everyone. You could still hear adlibs from one room over as well as footsteps, which was a relief because it let you know someone else was alive without people typing "lol where is every1" in chat. You could chat in the lobby before and after the game, so it wasn't completely devoid of communication. You could still strategize and stuff before starting a scenario.If a game like this is ever made again, it might be nice with a purely vicinity voice chat/text chat only when in the same room.

The Outbreak games are awesome, yet sadly ahead of their time. They had a few issues and if patching was a thing on consoles back then they'd have fared better. Even though they are MP focused games they work just as well and are great fun single-player - with a lot of replay value. I'd kill for these games to be HD upgraded with fixes to issues on current systems with MP.

This game, I love this game so much, guilty pleasure or not these are some of my favorite resident evil games of all times; Love the stage love the 'characters' love most of the mechanics, and absolutely love you can fucking use melee weapons which, at the time was kind of rare on a zombie game for some reason XD

Maioly installing the game on the hard drive reduces the load times. They're still long loading times though.

I liked that the characters had different personalities, and interacted with each other differently depending on them. Like when he was playing Jim the other Ai mostly didn't help him because the ones with him don't like Jim so they don't hang around for long if they can help it, but if for example you played Yoko, or Cindy then a Ryan, or George Ai will hang around, and help protect you when they can. It was just another awesome bit of depth.

I was kind of poor back then (that plus brazilian console and console add on prices...) so I could not afford a ps2 hard drive... or the stuff necessary for online play; that did not stop me from nearly 100% this game outside of online only shit... I hate the online only shit

when I was a kid I had this and Outbreak: File 2...and the strategy guides for both games..cause you really need them if you want to unlock everything..It was a lot of fun..I remember one time playing all Saturday with snacks and sodas...best time ever!
