I find it annoying how Dianna Agron is alway cast as the super-gentile girl, when she’s actually Jewish. It’s weird to alway give a Jewish woman those “shiksa“ roles. It’s like in Glee, when Dianna played the “super-shiksa“, and the Jewish girl was so jealous of her so she wanted to have a nose job to look like her. those plot lines are antisemitic, so when they keep casting her as THE non-Jew in a Jewish film it makes me feel like they’re still using the same stereotypes that were used in Glee

I don’t think you mean to send the message “if you’ve been cheated on, it could have been prevented if you were more attractive.” Jennifer Aniston was cheated on. Princess Diana was cheated on. Freaking Audrey Hepburn was cheated on. Cheating says more about the cheater than the person who has been cheated on.
@nbucwa6621

Unfortunately that's the most realistic part. A cheater could be with a literal goddess and still cheat (pretty sure that's what 90% of greek myths are about)

There is a saying that goes something like this: “It is less about how you feel about the person as it is about how you feel about yourself when you are with them.” You can be with someone beautiful and still not feel good about yourself.
@alexandria6007
@alexandria6007 3 жыл бұрын
I think that’s the whole point (and the reason she often plays roles where she’s cheated on). If a character cheated on a deadbeat who looked awful then the audience could justify it or find ways to even celebrate the cheater. (Ie. They did something awful but upgraded, maybe they should have just met her sooner) When Dianna Agron gets cheated on (or someone else who is the same archetypal perfect person) then the audience is forced the acknowledge that the cheater is the messed up one. If the sugar baby was way hotter than the wife she might feel good about herself, but because Kim is perfect and incredible, the sugar baby realizes how badly she fucked up, how the guy is a complete scrub, etc.

I can certainly relate to the feelings of doing nothing with my life at an age where I should have things figured out. I worry that this movie might be better enjoyed by me when I'm at a point where I can look back and laugh at the past...instead of crying at the present. This looks very good.

I so appreciate your insight on these movies that I know I CANNOT handle watching for one reason or another. But you have a gift of explaining things I wouldn't even have noticed or gained a certain perspective without your videos (and some of the sounds you make are hilarious)! Thank you so much for being so insightful and entertaining 💖

It’s 2 AM where I live and this is just what I needed at the perfect moment. I have been really struggling with my future and not having everything figured out, with ideas of changing majors after only just starting and being in crisis because I don’t know what to do with my life. And it helped a lot to just hear you say that everyone goes through the same, and that you don’t have to have all in order by the time you’re 20. So thank you! You made my night and I truly enjoy watching your videos.

@@TheFreshTrumpet Yes, some bi people do stress about that. Especially until we figure ourselves out. In my case, I hadn't even heard the expression bisexual, so I had no idea what was "wrong" with me since I fell for both boys and girls. All I knew was that I wasn't straight and wasn't gay, so something must be "wrong" with me, since I only knew about liking your own sex and the opposite - not that you could actually like both. Hence - stress. Until I found about the wonderful word: bisexual. :D

Shiva is actually pronounced Shiv-Ah in Hebrew. שבעה in Hebrew means seven (for masculine nouns). It's a shortened version of שבעה ימים (seven days) which is the main period of mourning in Judaism. During this time the family sometimes sits in a white tent outside their house, sometimes even sleeping in there, for a whole week while their family and friends come to visit them and help them mourn (the tent is a more traditional way, a lot of people mourn in their house). After than, there's a period of a month of mourning that proceeds the Shiv-ah. לשבת שבעה (Lashevet Shiv-ah, basically translated to "to sit the seven" or "to sit Shiv-ah) is the verb describing the act of the family's mourning. Also, some traditions may change depending on whether the family is Ashkenazi, Mizrahi or Sepharadi. Just a little lesson from me, a Jewish gal (and a fluent Hebrew speaker) Edit: damnn as a bi Jew I'm here for this movie

$4 on Cineplex and a bargain at twice the price. This immediately earned a spot on my "2021" hidden gem list. I don't know if a comedy played as a horror working this well is a fluke or if Emma Seligman is a straight up genius, but either way, between this and White Lie, Canada is developing a reputation for some fantastic anxiety inducing watching.

Man, I fully appreciate your new ability to make it through this, because I couldn't even make it through your video before the embarassment squick got to be too much for me. I hit the part where all her pics started coming in and went "...Nope. Nope, I can't see what the coming reaction to that is, and I really can't watch it get even worse from here." Incredibly relatable lead, as someone who spent most of their 20s stagnating and endlessly awkward and embarassed feeling when I saw old friends or distant family and had nothing worth talking about to tell them when they asked about my life.

Just so you know it was not a Torah. A Torah is very big and not in people's homes but in the shul and has two scrolls covered, etc... It was probably a sidur which is a prayer book. When it falls to the ground you pick it up and kiss it and put it back. Same thing with any sefer (holy book). This is not a big deal because I can see how people would make that mistake but it is a small correction.
